Douglas County Elections Results‏

In this election, any candidate that received 50% + one vote won their seat and no November run off is necessary. Here are the election results for Marilyn Kittelman and Loma Wharton.

Commissioner: Kittelman 29.84% (incumbent) Morgan 55.31%

County Clerk: Wharton 14.86% Nielsen 80.19% (Incumbent)

The results are being contested as there were irregularities. One machine used for counting the ballots was shut down for up to 2 hours. A belt was replaced for feeding the ballots through the machine. Upon replacement of the belt, the machine was immediately place into service with out a test count being made. Other items were also noted.

To say the least, the results in this primary election are suspecious and many voters are angered by the results in many of the political races. A hand recount of 63,000+/- ballots is officially requested. It was noted by the Elections Division that there was an over 61% turn out. Unless a recount of the ballots happens we are looking at the above per centages for our candidates as official. We in the Kittelman/Wharton campaigns are a bit shocked at the results. This is not at all what we were hearing from our face to face encounters with the public.

We thank all who have financially supported our candidates. With your support we were able to get out signs that were absolutely needed. We will keep you in touch with finalization of this matter.

Thank you all.
