The Dept of the Navy has announced plans to
spend $600K to alter the Navy Seabees Barracks
at the Coronado Naval Base, San Diego.
Increasing numbers of people became aware of the
Swastika building as a result of the efforts of
the listeners of The Power Hour and many others
who contacted government offices after reading
the news release of July 13, 2006.

Dave vonKleist and co-host wife Joyce Riley,
publicized the Google Earth photos of the
swastika and wrote certified letters to the Dept
of the Navy, the Sec. of Defense, base commander
and several human rights organizations in July
of 2006, asking for an explanation as to why
such a building was constructed in the first
place. The responses gave no indication that the
controversy would be resolved.
It was only after listeners to the radio show
and growing numbers of people viewing the
swastika on-line began to express their outrage
to local officials, that the Navy was forced to
address the situation (over a year after the
original news release). L.A. Times writer Tony
Perry broke the story nationally and the story
was reported internationally.

The grass roots efforts of people from all
over the country who listen to The Power Hour
and circulated the news release are themselves
directly responsible for affecting a change and
are the real newsmakers of the story. The people
are having their voices heard.
