PLEASE TELEPHONE NEW MEXICO ENVIRONMENTAL SECRETARY RON CURRY AT HIS
TOLL FREE NUMBER, 1 (800) 219-6157 AND ASK HIM, HIS DEPUTY SECRETARY, AND
THE GENERAL COUNSEL, TO USE THEIR POWER TO TAKE THE FIRST SERIOUS STEPS TO
BAN ASPARTAME IN NEW MEXICO FROM HUMAN CONSUMPTION. THEIRS COULD BE A
PRECEDENT FOR EVERY STATE IN THE UNITED STATES.
The war has been going for a long time, but the New Mexico battle
regarding aspartame is entering a new level of skirmishes, soon to turn
into a major battle. Tomorrow, June 7, The New Mexico Environmental
Improvement Board is going to hear a presentation by:
Stephen Fox, Founder of New Mexico Nutrition Council Dr. George Schwartz,
M.D., Toxicologist and Editor of Principles and Practice of Emergency
Medicine Dr. Grant La Farge, M.D., Pediatric Cardiologist, and former
Professor of Medicine at Harvard University Medical School Dr. Ken Stoller,
Pediatrician, Professor of Medicine at UNM Medical School and author of
numerous papers on the neurotoxicity of mercury in vaccinations and in
dental amalgams.
The Environmental Improvement Board has the power to revoke approval of
aspartame, by reaching a decision that it is poisonous or deleterious,
according to the statutes involved. That is what we are going to ask them
to do, and this is the first presentation, ultimately leading to a formal
hearing in August or September of 2005.
I want everyone involved in the anti-aspartame movement to call Secretary
Curry as soon as possible to ask him to lead the nation by moving in this
direction, to get rid of aspartame by statute, starting on June 7, as well
as:
2.Derrith Watchman-Moore, the Deputy Secretary. She is a Navajo and former
chief of staff to the President of the Navajo Nation. You could remind her
that the devastating effects of aspartame on Navajos and Native Americans
in general in the convenience stores which dot the reservations and
pueblos is horrendous indeed.
3.Tracy Hughes, the General Counsel
Coca Cola and Pepsi, by the way, have already found out about this
meeting, and may have their lobbyists, shills, lawyers,
"rent-a-medical-experts," and so on at the meeting.
When you talk with these officials or their staffs, please be polite, be
cordial, be logical, be detailed, be accurate, and if you are an aspartame
victim, mention that too. Do not be shrill or negative: these folks are
potentially and eventually going to be our very best allies. Leave your
name and address and ask for a reply.
I really urgently need your help on this matter. If your talk goes well
with the Environment Department, please call New Mexico Governor Bill
Richardson next, at (505)827-3000.
Thanks so much,
Stephen Fox
