FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FILMMAKER WANTS AMERICANS TO WAKE UP BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE
In
the new film America: Freedom to Fascism,
Hollywood producer/director Aaron Russo (The Rose, Trading Places) calls on
all Americans to put partisan politics aside to stop the erosion of civil
liberties and the destruction of the Constitution.
Los
Angeles, CA October 3, 2006 –- While billed as necessary tools for the “War
on Terror,” the Surveillance and Detainee Treatment bills passed by Congress
could have dire implications for Americans who still think they live in the
land of the free.
"For the first time in our nation’s history our representatives have just
voted for the right to hold you indefinitely in a secret detention facility,
put you on trial based on evidence you cannot see and sentence you to death
based on hearsay or testimony that has been gathered from torture," says
filmmaker Aaron Russo.
"Subsection 4(b) (26) of section 950v. of HR 6166 claims you can be tried in
a military court if you are, 'Any person subject to this chapter who, in
breach of an allegiance or duty to the United States, knowingly and
intentionally aids an enemy of the United States, or one of the
co-belligerents of the enemy.' Can you -- or anyone you know -- define what
a 'co-belligerent' is? And how do we know who’s been classified as an
enemy?"
In his new film
America: Freedom to Fascism, Russo uncovers the government’s
plan for stolen elections, a police state with a national ID card and
ultimately a new world order. “The truth is this country is being forced
into fascism by fear and intimidation coming from our own government," Russo
warns. "They are destroying our Constitution and the media isn’t even
covering it!”
Because he believes there is little time left before all civil liberties are
gone, Russo is making his film available immediately at his website even
though it’s just now opening in theaters. Last weekend it received standing
ovations and sold out crowds in Denver and Portland and will be opening
wider on Friday October 6th in Beverly Hills, Tempe, Tucson, Salt Lake City,
Nashville and Dallas.
“We’re at a critical moment in our nation’s history right now,” Russo says.
“And if that means I have to take a hit financially, so be it. It’s time to
stop being good Democrats. It’s time to stop being good Republicans -- and
it’s time to start being good Americans. People from all political parties
should get the film at
FreedomToFascism.com and hold house party screenings before it’s too
late. Realize that our government, and that means both political parties,
along with war profiteers, want to stifle, intimidate and now eliminate
people -- and that, we have to stop.”
