ALERT FOR ALL NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS
New Jersey Wants More Vaccines Mandated, Including Flu Vaccine
New Jersey Department of Health officials are holding a Stakeholders Meeting
on Friday, August 18, 2006, at the New Jersey Department of Health and
Senior Services, 3635 Quakerbridge Road, Mercerville, NJ, Conference Room C
from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to obtain input from key health care
professionals and other affected constituents regarding the draft public
health rules of NJAC 8:57-4 Immunization of Pupils in School, which apply to
children attending school or a licensed child care center in New Jersey.
The Vaccine Preventable Disease Program (VPDP) has drafted revisions to NJAC
8:57-4 and plans to implement them in September 2007. The Aug. 18 meeting
will take place prior to the formal submission of the rule before the New
Jersey Public Health Council.
NJ Health Department officials want to add the following vaccines to the
list of state mandated vaccines: pneumococcal, influenza, meningococcal and
hepatitis A. It appears state health officials also want to revise language
for penalties for non- compliance with vaccine mandates.
If you are a New Jersey resident and would like to voice your opinion about
the proposed new vaccine mandates or penalties for non-compliance, you may
want to attend this meeting. You can also voice your concerns to your local
state elected representatives or the Governor of New Jersey. The Governor's
address is:
