Biden Administration Weighs Shutting Another Pipeline, White House Confirms

Epoch Times – The Biden administration is reviewing shutting a pipeline in Michigan after anonymously sourced reports said federal officials were quietly studying its potential environmental impact, a White House spokeswoman confirmed on Nov. 8. When pressed by a reporter during a news conference, White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre disputed reports saying President Joe Biden is going to terminate Enbridge Inc.’s Line 5 pipeline, which stretches from Canada into Michigan. However, she conceded that the Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing the matter. “Yes, we are. We are,” Jean-Pierre said. “I thought you were saying that we were going to shut it down, but that is not inaccurate. The Army Corps of Engineers is preparing an environmental impact [statement] to look through this.” She added that “any reporting indicating that some decision has been made, again, is not accurate,” and an Environmental Impact Statement “will help inform any additional action or position

Louisiana Business Owner Challenges Biden Vaccine Mandate in Court

Epoch Times – A Louisiana business owner is suing the Biden administration over its COVID-19 vaccine mandate for companies with 100 or more employees, claiming the demand is “wrong” and that he “won’t stand for it.” Brandon Trosclair employees hundreds of workers across 15 grocery stores in Louisiana and Mississippi that would require him to fire workers who fail to comply with the new COVID-19 vaccine mandate. “Over the past 20 months, my employees have showed up to work and served their communities in the face of COVID and hurricanes,” Trosclair said in a statement. “Now I’m being told by the government to insert myself into their private health decisions? That’s wrong and I won’t stand for it,” he added. The lawsuit (pdf) was filed with help from the Liberty Justice Center on Friday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans.

Man Says He Was Pointing Gun at Rittenhouse When Teenager Shot Him

Epoch Times – The man who survived a gunshot wound by Kyle Rittenhouse in Wisconsin last year said on Nov. 4 that he was pointing his gun at the teenager when the then-17-year-old shot him. Witness Gaige Grosskreutz, who was one of three people shot by Rittenhouse during protests against racial injustice in Kenosha and the only survivor, was testifying during Rittenhouse’s murder trial in Kenosha, where the shootings happened on Aug. 25, 2020. “It wasn’t until you pointed your gun at him, advanced on him with your gun … that he fired, right?” Corey Chirafisi, part of Rittenhouse’s defense team, asked Grosskreutz. “Correct,” he replied. Rittenhouse had earlier fired on Joseph Rosenbaum, who witnesses said was acting aggressively and lunged at the teenager in the parking lot of a car dealership. Rosenbaum died from his wounds. After Rittenhouse took off running, he was attacked by Anthony Huber, who swung a skateboard at his head. .

‘Many’ More Durham Indictments Likely in Connection to Steele Dossier: Former Director of National Intelligence

Epoch Times – Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said he expects special counsel John Durham’s team to indict more suspects in connection to the origins of the Trump-Russia probe and the discredited Steele dossier. Last week, a grand jury empaneled by Durham indicted Russia analyst Igor Danchenko, who previously worked for the left-leaning Brookings Institution, for allegedly lying to the FBI. Danchenko had been the main source for the dossier created by former UK spy Christopher Steele that was, in turn, used by the FBI during its inquiry into whether the 2016 campaign of Donald Trump colluded with Russia. “When I became the director of national intelligence, I said, ‘Listen, I want to see all of the intelligence about this supposed Russian collusion,’ Ratcliffe said during a Fox Business interview on Sunday.

What’s Next as 27 States, Multiple Businesses Sue to Stop Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

Daily Signal – One court already has temporarily halted the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate for private employers and legal battles are emerging across the nation as 27 states and multiple businesses and nonprofits sue to block the mandate on its likely path to the Supreme Court.

Plaintiffs have brought lawsuits in federal appeals courts for the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 11th circuits as well as the one in Washington, D.C. The next step will be a “lottery” process to determine which federal circuit hears the case.

Then, the federal government likely will file a motion to vacate the ruling Saturday by a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals imposing a temporary stay on enforcing the new federal rule implementing the mandate.

The Labor Department last week issued the emergency rule to require employers with 100 or more workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine, or get tested for the disease each week.

President Joe Biden has said that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, part of the Labor Department, will start enforcing the mandate Jan. 4 through fines of $13,600 per violation per business.

The mandate on businesses and other organizations is estimated to affect about 84 million American workers. Biden’s social spending bill, now before the House, calls for raising the penalty for a willful violation to $700,000.

Billions and Billions to Be Wasted

CATO Institute – The only good thing about the infrastructure bill that Congress just passed is that it doesn’t include any money for high‐speed rail. Unfortunately, it did include far too much money for things like Amtrak, urban transit, and rural broadband.

The infrastructure bill is really two bills in one: first, a reauthorization of existing federal spending on highways and transit; and second, brand‐new spending on highways, transit, Amtrak, electric vehicles, airports, ports, clean water, clean energy, and broadband. This entirely new spending is almost entirely unnecessary as the infrastructure crisis was mostly fabricated in order to get Congress do what it always does, which is throw money at problems that are perceived to exist, whether they are real or not.

Elon Musk: The Modern Torch Bearer For Historic Technocracy

Tecnnocracy News – The last week of October, Bill Gates (net worth: $138 billion) celebrated his 66th birthday in a cove off the coast of Turkey, ferrying guests from his rented yacht to a beach resort by private helicopter. Guests included Jeff Bezos (net worth: $197 billion), who after the party flew back to his own yacht, not to be confused with the “superyacht” he is building at a cost of more than $500 million.

The world’s richest person, Elon Musk (net worth: $317 billion), did not attend. He was most likely in Texas, where his company Space X was preparing for a rocket launch. Mark Zuckerberg (net worth: $119 billion) wasn’t there, either, but the day after Mr. Gates’s party, he announced his plan for the metaverse, a virtual reality where, wearing a headset and gear that closes out the actual world, you can spend your day as an avatar doing things like going to parties on remote Aegean islands or boarding a yacht or flying in a rocket, as if you were obscenely rich.

The metaverse is at once an illustration of and a distraction from a broader and more troubling turn in the history of capitalism. The world’s techno-billionaires are forging a new kind of capitalism: Muskism. Mr. Musk, who likes to troll his rivals, mocked Mr. Zuckerberg’s metaverse. But from missions to Mars and the moon to the metaverse, it’s all Muskism: extreme, extraterrestrial capitalism, where stock prices are driven less by earnings than by fantasies from science fiction.

Dr. Mercola Files Lawsuit Against US Sen. Elizabeth Warren

Mercola – In early September 2021, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren sent a letter to Andy Jassy, chief executive officer of Amazon.com, demanding an “immediate review” of Amazon’s algorithms to weed out books peddling “COVID misinformation,” stressing that Amazon’s sale of such books was “potentially unlawful”.

Warren specifically singled out my book, “The Truth About COVID-19,” co-written with Ronnie Cummins, founder and director of the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), as a prime example of “highly-ranked and favorably-tagged books based on falsehoods about COVID-19 vaccines and cures” that she wants banned.

As a government official, it is illegal for Warren to violate the U.S. Constitution, and pressuring private businesses to do it for her is not a legal workaround.

Cummins and I, along with our publisher, Chelsea Green Publishing, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who wrote our foreword, are now suing Warren, both in her official and personal capacities, for violating our First Amendment rights and scaring book sellers into pulling and/or suppressing sales of our book.

Ironically, Warren’s claims of misinformation are themselves misinformation that puts lives at risk

Vitamin D Papers Top List of Most Popular Studies of the Year

Mercola – Vitamin D optimization is likely the easiest, least expensive and most fundamental beneficial strategy that anyone can do to minimize their risk of COVID-19 and other infections.

October 31, 2020, I published a scientific review in the journal Nutrients, co-written with William Grant, Ph.D., and Dr. Carol Wagner. Our paper is the second-most downloaded study from this journal in the past 12 months. It’s also No. 2 in citations for articles in the past 12 months, and No. 4 for views.

The study with the most downloads in the past year and the all-time highest number of views is another vitamin D paper, which found vitamin D supplementation reduced the risk of influenza and COVID-19 infections and deaths.

A third vitamin D paper nabbed the No. 1 spot for most-cited study in the past 12 months. This study found vitamin D supplementation improved survival in frail elderly hospitalized with COVID-19.
To improve your immune function and lower your risk of viral infections, you’ll want to maintain a vitamin D level between 60 ng/mL and 80 ng/mL (150 nmol/L and 200 nmol/L). Vitamin D optimization is particularly important for dark-skinned individuals, as the darker your skin, the more sun exposure you need to raise your vitamin D level, as well as the elderly

Cleveland Clinic Identifies Melatonin May Be an Important Adjunct To COVID-19 Treatment

Mercola – Melatonin has also been shown to play a role in viral infections and according to a June 2020 research paper in Life Sciences journal, it may be an important adjunct to COVID-19 treatment. According to the authors, melatonin attenuates several pathological features of COVID-19.

They point out that melatonin is also “effective in critical care patients by reducing vessel permeability, anxiety, sedation use, and improving sleeping quality, which might also be beneficial for better clinical outcomes.”

The scientific review paper, “Melatonin Potentials Against Viral Infections Including COVID-19: Current Evidence and New Findings,” published October 2020 in Virus Research journal, also summarizes the many potential mechanisms by which melatonin can protect against and ameliorate viral infections.

The authors review research looking at melatonin’s beneficial effects against a variety of viruses, including respiratory syncytial virus, Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus, viral hepatitis, viral myocarditis, Ebola, West Nile virus and dengue virus. Based on these collective findings, they believe melatonin may offer similar protection against SARS-CoV-2.

Biden Administration Pushes Court to Lift Block on OSHA COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

Epoch Times – COVID-19 presents a “grave danger” to businesses because the illness spreads in workplaces and people who haven’t gotten a vaccine continue to be hospitalized and die, the U.S. government told a court late Monday in trying to get a stay against its private employer COVID-19 vaccine mandate lifted. The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) unveiled the mandate as an emergency temporary standard last week for every business with 100 or more workers. A federal appeals court panel over the weekend stayed the mandate, or blocked it for now, citing “grave statutory and constitutional issues.” That stay should be lifted as the flurry of legal challenges against the mandate proceed, Biden administration lawyers asserted in a response to a request for a permanent injunction of the standard.

Singapore No Longer Covering COVID-19 Medical Bills for People Who Are ‘Unvaccinated by Choice’

Epoch Times – Singapore’s health ministry announced Monday that people who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine but choose not to take it will not have their medical bills covered by the government after Dec. 8. “Currently, unvaccinated persons make up a sizable majority of those who require intensive inpatient care, and disproportionately contribute to the strain on our healthcare resources,” part of the announcement reads. “Hence, from 8 December 2021, we will begin charging COVID-19 patients who are unvaccinated by choice. This will apply to all unvaccinated COVID-19 patients admitted on or after 8 December 2021 to hospitals and [COVID-19 Treatment Facilities]. COVID-19 medical bills for those who are ineligible for vaccination will still be fully paid for by the government, i.e. children under 12 years old or medically ineligible persons.”

Biden Administration Sends Notices to Appear to Tens of Thousands of Illegal Immigrants Inside US

Epoch Times – President Joe Biden’s administration is sending notices to tens of thousands illegal immigrants who were released into the U.S. interior without being given a date to appear in court, the government confirmed to The Epoch Times. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “is mailing charging documents to place noncitizens in removal proceedings who have been paroled or released under prosecutorial discretion by Customs and Border Protection,” an ICE spokesman told The Epoch Times in an email. The illegal immigrants, numbering about 78,000, will receive packets of documents, including ones directing them to report to the ICE office closest to where they’re living, and that they will be processed for possible deportation.

Michigan Township Closes Schools After Staff Has ‘Negative Reaction’ to COVID-19 Booster

Epoch Times – A township in Michigan announced schools would be closed on Monday after several staff members experienced a “negative reaction” to COVID-19 booster shots. In a statement posted on its website, Saginaw Township Community Schools said, due to staffing issues, the district would be closed on Monday. “A large number of our staff had a negative reaction to the COVID booster shot given at a voluntary clinic over the weekend,” the bulletin said. “There is a substitute teacher/staff shortage throughout the state, further complicating the availability to cover those absences.” In a Facebook response to a comment on Monday, the school system also said it is planning to open Tuesday. The school district did not provide more details. The Epoch Times has contacted it for comment. Booster shots have been approved by the federal government for adults who took the Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Relief from High Prices Unlikely, Analysts Say Ahead of Consumer Inflation Data Release

Epoch Times – With investors closely eyeing two major data releases this week on inflation—one on producer input costs and the other on consumer prices—Wells Fargo analysts say it’s unlikely sticker-shock-weary consumers will see relief as the persistent supply-side crunch will “keep fanning the flames on inflation in the near term.” On Tuesday, the Labor Department will release data for October’s producer price index (PPI), which tends to front-run consumer inflation data as at least some production costs get passed on to consumers. Economists expect a year-over-year rise of 8.7 percent in the PPI inflation measure, which would be the highest reading in the history of the series. Last month’s PPI came in at 8.6 percent, a record high. And on Wednesday, the Labor Department will issue figures for October’s consumer price index (CPI), a key measure of inflation from the perspective of end consumers of goods and services.
