Klaus Schwab Declares China To Be A ‘Role Model’

Once upon a time, the Soviets had a tightly controlled network of internationalists known as the COMINTERN to promote their communist model to Europe and beyond.

As it stands now, the Red Chinese have gone them one better: They’ve got Klaus Schwab.

According to Fox News:

World Economic Forum founder and Chair Klaus Schwab recently sat down for an interview with a Chinese state media outlet and proclaimed that China was a “role model” for other nations.

Schwab, 84, made these comments during an interview with CGTN’s Tian Wei on the sidelines of last week’s APEC CEO Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

Schwab said he respected China’s “tremendous” achievements at modernizing its economy over the last 40 years.

“I think it’s a role model for many countries,” Schwab said, before qualifying that he thinks each country should make its own decisions about what system it wants to adapt.

“I think we should be very careful in imposing systems. But the Chinese model is certainly a very attractive model for quite a number of countries,” Schwab said.

A role model? A country of zero freedom, low social mobility, social credit scores, and constant government surveillance? Who the heck, even among the revolutionary wokester crowd, is openly calling for a Chinese model for their own countries?

China in fact is a giant prison, complete with slave labor, sweatshops, low wages, continuous lockdowns and actual laogai, or Gulags. Challenge the government in any way and you’ll be packed off to one for years upon years in no time. In the case of the Uighurs, just being the wrong nationality is enough for such punishment.

Far from being an attractive role model, China is a country people flee from. In 2019, by China’s own statistics, 11 million have gotten the heck out and moved to other countries just to get away from it, with about a third coming to the U.S. China has the third-highest global emigration rate after India and Mexico, and we all know what’s next to Mexico on its north side is what’s bringing them. It’s largely the same with China.

China Tightens Security After Mass Protests Over CCP’s Draconian COVID Policies

The Chinese regime tightened security in some cities in the aftermath of major protests that flared across the country over the weekend. The protests were a rare show of defiance against Beijing’s draconian zero-COVID policy, which has uprooted daily life for the past three years.

Police on Nov. 28 stopped and searched people at the sites of weekend protests in Shanghai and Beijing, after crowds there and in other Chinese cities took to the streets in the largest public display of opposition to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in decades.

The large-scale public disobedience, during which protesters called for CCP leader Xi Jinping to step down, presents a major challenge to Xi, who personally advocated the zero-COVID approach which calls for mass testing, aggressive contact tracing, and prolonged lockdowns.

There was no sign of new protests on Nov. 28 in Beijing or Shanghai, but dozens of police were in the areas where the demonstrations took place.

Police have been asking people for their phones to check if they had virtual private networks (VPNs) and the Telegram app, which had been used by weekend protesters, residents and social media users said. VPNs are illegal for most people in China, while the Telegram app is blocked from China’s internet.

England No Longer a Christian Nation as Atheism and Islam Make Gains – Census

Less than half of people in England and Wales are Christian, the census has revealed, with both atheism and Islam making major gains.

The majority of people in both England and Wales are not Christian for the first time probably since the 7th century AD, data from the 2021 census published on Tuesday has revealed.

According to the information released by Britain’s Office of National Statistics, both England and Wales have lost their status as majority-Christian nations, with only 46.3 per cent of the population of England reporting themselves as being Christian, while only 43.6 per cent of the Welsh population now describe themselves as being adherents to a denomination of Christianity.

Former White House ‘Disinformation Czar’ Nina Jankowicz Registers as Foreign Agent

Nina Jankowicz, who briefly served as the Biden administration’s “disinformation czar,” has registered as a foreign agent of a nonprofit organization based in the United Kingdom.

According to registration documents received by the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) unit, Jankowicz filed for her foreign agent status this month (pdf). The name of the foreign principal is listed as the Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) from the United Kingdom. The nonprofit is founded and directed by Adam Rutland, a UK citizen, and Ross Burley, a dual UK–U.S. national.

The entity is financed by a “foreign government, foreign political party, or other foreign principal,” the documents show. It receives grants from the UK government, including the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development offices.

According to its website, CIR “is an independent, non-profit social enterprise dedicated to countering disinformation, exposing human rights abuses, and combating online behavior harmful to women and minorities.”

At CIR, Jankowicz is tasked with supervising research, executing business strategy, overseeing the establishment of CIR’s research, communicating with the media, and briefing individuals and officials on the organization’s research, according to her registration documents.

She will work with CIR employees from the UK via online communication platforms in order to “further the goals” of the organization.

We Will Be Sacrificed for Global Standardization of Systems

Agenda 21 (Agenda for the 21st Century) is the inventory and control plan for all land, water, minerals, plants, animals, construction, means of production, food, energy, information, education and all human beings in the world

This roadmap for global totalitarianism was agreed to by 179 nations, including the U.S., at the 1992 Sustainable Development conference in Brazil

We’ve seen various facets of Agenda 21 being implemented throughout the last three years, under the cover of biosecurity and the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Green New Deal (Green Agenda), “Build Back Better,” the Fourth Industrial Revolution (the transhumanist movement) and The Great Reset all further and facilitate the implementation of Agenda 21

Agenda 21 is based on the ideology of “communitarianism,” which argues that “an individual’s rights should be balanced against rights of the community.” Community, however, in the mind of the globalists, is made up of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), corporations and government, which are to dictate what happens around the world. The people are not really part of the equation

“Sustainable development” is NOT about recycling or making sure there’s enough food and resources for everyone. It’s about moving populations from rural and suburban areas into concentrated city centers where they and their use of resources can be monitored and controlled

Parliament Installs Free Tampon Machine in Men’s Bathroom

A vending machine distributing free tampons has been installed in at least one men’s bathroom in Ireland’s parliament building.

Free tampons are now reportedly available in at least one men’s bathroom in Leinster House, the parliament building for the Irish state, after a machine distributing the sanitary product was installed in recent days.

“Medical Assistance in Dying” (MAID): Canadian Government Literally Proposes State Execution of Living Babies

he corporate media has an established track record of promoting suicide as a solution to climate change, among other trendy political problems.

Social engineers euphemistically rebrand state-facilitated suicide as “medical assistance in dying” (MAID). The Canadian government even produces educational “activity books” to indoctrinate children into the new paradigm early, like this one by Canadian Virtual Hospice:

Proponents of the practice frame state-facilitated suicide as a peculiar form of self-empowerment, taking back the right to end your life on your own terms rather than “someone else”:

“From early-adopting Switzerland to latest-to-the-table Australia, more and more countries are legalising the practice. It is now available to over 280 million people in 11 countries around the world. It was on offer to my mother, who recently (and gratefully) used Canada’s legislation to orchestrate her own wise demise…  If we don’t claim the design of our own deaths, it’s likely someone else will…”

All social engineering programs are slippery slopes, moving predictably from the most reasonable and appealing arguments based on rationality to the most extreme, ideologically driven ones.

In this case, the more reasonable government suicide argument starts with older adults nearing the end of their life, in unbearable physical anguish due to one illness or another. That’s how it’s initially sold.

Then, in 2021, Bill C-7 amended the Canadian Criminal Code to “repeal the provision that a person’s natural death be reasonably foreseeable in order for them to be eligible for MAID.” Accordingly, the parameters under which a patient can legally request that the state kill them expanded to include mental illness.

The “kill yourself because you’re depressed” narrative is a tacit acknowledgment of the failure of the psychiatric profession.

Since the 80s, the medical industry pumped “antidepressant” selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors into tens of millions of Americans’ bloodstreams. The entire pharmacological premise of these drugs, that depression is caused by neurochemical imbalance, has been recently debunked. They made billions while depression worsened.

Then we have “anti-anxiety” benzodiazepines like Valium and Xanax that actually just take a neurochemical shotgun to your brain and render you an emotional zombie for 10 hours. Those didn’t work to improve long-term mental health outcomes either.

So they now throw their hands up: “Fuck it, just kill yourself.”

This is not theoretical. The Belgian government already killed an otherwise physically healthy 23-year-old on mental health grounds this year:

“A 23-year woman who had survived a terror attack when she was a teenager has died after she chose to be euthanised… Though Shanti escaped the explosion physically unscathed, mentally she suffered every day since… Shanti sought help from a psychiatric facility in her home town of Antwerp and was even put on anti-depressant medications. However, the psychological trauma was too heavy and she attempted suicide twice; once in 2018 and once in 2020. Finally, in May of this year, she opted to be euthanised.”

Now, having crossed the mental health frontier, as it was destined to from the start, the agenda moves to the Holy Grail: killing children. So we arrive at the Canadian Paediatric Society’s (fittingly acronymized as CPS) treatise on the topic, “Medical Assistance in Dying: A Paediatric Perspective“:

“Ensuring that newborns, children and youth receive the highest possible standard of care as they are dying is a privilege and a responsibility for physicians and allied professionals. Bringing a thoughtful, respectful and personal approach to every end-of-life situation is an essential and evolving duty of care, and the process should meet each patient’s (and family’s) unique social, cultural and spiritual needs.”

So the medical system gets official permission from the Public Health© authorities (the CPS being the foremost authority on children’s medicine) to kill children… as long their decision-making is “respectful” towards “social, cultural, and spiritual needs.”

The Canadian Paediatric Society refers to the children it aims to mercy-kill as “mature minors,” an Orwellian term apparently intended to convey that they are intellectually developed enough to decide to kill themselves.

Sri Lanka’s Neoliberal Nightmare, Widespread Famine Triggered by Covid-19 Lockdown and an Unpayable External Debt

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), Sri Lanka faces a “serious food crisis,” with 6.3 million people—close to 30% of the 22 million population—being food insecure. Food inflation has reached a record-high of 90%, making staples such as rice unaffordable for millions of people. Overall, inflation is running at 60%.

“What we are really worried about now is the food crisis—we are looking at even the dangers of a famine in the near future,” says Ahilan Kadirgamar, a political economist and senior lecturer at the University of Jaffna, located in the capital city of the Northern province of Sri Lanka.

“Starvation is already hitting some sections of the population.”

Sri Lanka, which is very import-dependent, ran out of foreign exchange in April, leaving it unable to import food supplies, fuel, medicines and fertilizer. Buses, trains, ambulances and many cars cannot be driven and electricity power cuts have become common, crippling farming, fishing and factory production.

Sri Lanka defaulted on its $56 billion external debt in May, its first default. The country has obtained 16 loans from the International Monetary Fund and tried to obtained a 17th loan in May but was not able to come to an agreement.

Widespread public protests against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s government drove him out of the country in July. Rajapaksa appointed political rival Ranil Wickremesinghe prime minister before leaving. Wickremesinghe then took over as president, swiftly cracking down on protests by tear-gassing and jailing dozens of demonstrators under draconian counterterrorism laws.

The immediate causes of the Sri Lankan crisis were the unsustainability of its $56 billion external debt when faced with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a drop in tourism and migrant worker remittances from abroad, as well as tax cuts carried out by the Rajapaksa regime.

The pandemic disrupted supply chains for Sri Lanka’s main exports of textiles, garments and tea, resulting in reduced revenues.

Worker remittances, which were a major source of foreign exchange, hit a 10-year low in 2021, partly due to COVID-19.

Bomb blasts in 2019 in Colombo (Sri Lanka’s capital), along with COVID-19 both reduced tourism revenue, from $5 billion in 2018 to only $200 million in 2021. This compounded the pressures on Sri Lanka.

In 2019, the government implemented massive tax cuts, causing its revenue to plummet. The value-added tax was reduced from 15% to 8% and seven other taxes were eliminated. As a result, the state lost vital tax revenue from a million taxpayers.

Eighty-one per cent of Sri Lanka’s external debt is owed to Western financial institutions as well as Japan and India. The financial institutions are mainly commercial banks and vulture funds, namely: BlackRock, JP Morgan Chase, Prudential (all three U.S.), Ashmore Group, HSBC (both U.K.), Allianz (Germany), UBS (Switzerland). These corporations own 47% of Sri Lanka’s debt, the largest portion. The Asian Development Bank owns 13% of Sri Lanka’s debt, the World Bank 9%, Japan 10%, China 10% and India 2%.

There are, however, deeper reasons for Sri Lanka’s collapse. Kadirgamar blames colonialism, neocolonialism and neoliberalism:

“The economic trajectory for this crisis was set in 1977 by the Junius Jayewardene government, which subjected Sri Lanka to neoliberal reforms, liberalizing trade and finance,” Kadirgamar says. “But this trajectory has to be contextualized in the long history of colonialism and neocolonialism.”

Hawaii’s Mauna Loa Volcano Erupts; US Agency Issues ‘Code: Red’ Warning

The world’s largest active volcano, Hawaii’s Mauna Loa, erupted for the first time since 1984, which prompted a warning from the U.S. Geological Survey.

Mauna Loa, located on the island of Hawaii, erupted at around 4:30 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time on Nov. 28, according to U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in a recent alert.

The USGS, which also tracks earthquakes, said that it boosted the volcano alert level from “advisory” to “warning.” Currently, the USGS lists the eruption as “Warning, Color Code: Red.”

“At this time, lava flows are contained within the summit area and are not threatening downslope communities,” the USGS said in a statement. “Winds may carry volcanic gas and possibly fine ash and Pele’s hair downwind,” referring to a type of lava.

Residents in the vicinity of the volcano were advised to “review preparedness and refer to Hawai’i County Civil Defense information for further guidance,” according to the USGS.

“Based on past events, the early stages of a Mauna Loa eruption can be very dynamic and the location and advance of lava flows can change rapidly,” the agency warned, adding that if the eruption stays in the Moku’āweoweo summit caldera of Mauna Loa, it likely will be contained.

“However, if the eruptive vents migrate outside its walls, lava flows may move rapidly downslope,” which would pose more danger to people in the area, according to the alert.

Maricopa County Votes to Certify Election Results

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted to certify the November midterm general election results despite angry voters claiming the county mishandled the election—if not rigged it.

“It is what it is,” said District 5 board member Steve Gallardo, a Democrat, at the Nov. 28 public meeting in Phoenix.

“This election was safe, secure, and in my opinion, this election is over.”

More than 1.5 million county voters cast ballots, 290,000 on election day alone, a large percentage of them Republican.

However, an estimated 70 of the 223 county voting centers on election day reported printer malfunction that resulted in approximately 16,000 ballots that couldn’t go through the electronic tabulators.

Here’s Where the Warnock–Walker Race Stands After Early Voting Starts in Georgia Runoff

More than 180,000 voters have cast their ballots during early voting in the Georgia U.S. Senate runoff election between Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) and Republican candidate Herschel Walker, according to state election data.

About 69,297 Georgians turned out to vote on Nov. 26, the first day of early voting in the state after several courts ruled against a state order that had previously blocked voting on that day. A day later, on Nov. 27, another 87,168 people voted in the runoff, according to Gabriel Sterling, a top state election official.

“So far 181,711 Georgians have cast their votes in the December 6 Runoff. We expect solid turnout for the 5 days of Early Voting today. Make a plan for your vote, be it this week, by absentee by mail, or on Election Day,” Sterling wrote on Twitter on Nov. 28.

The Georgia Secretary of State’s office noted on Nov. 28 that under state law, any Georgia voter who’s registered to vote by Nov. 7 can cast a ballot in the runoff. That’s regardless of their previous voting history, and the voter didn’t need to have voted in the Nov. 8 General Election in order to cast a ballot in the runoff, according to an emailed statement.

Gun Boom Continues: FBI Ran 192,749 Background Checks on Black Friday

Numbers released Monday show that the FBI ran 192,749 National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background checks on Black Friday 2022.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) noted that the 192,749 NICS checks on Black Friday 2022 “[rank] it third in the Top 10 Highest Days for NICS checks and…[represent] a 2.8 percent increase from Black Friday 2021.”

U.S. to Auction Almost 1 Million Acres Off Alaskan Coast for Oil Drilling

The United States will auction nearly one million acres off the Alaskan coast for new oil and gas drilling in December, mandated in the so-called “Inflation” Reduction Act (IRA).

The United States Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), inside the Department of Interior, will put hundreds of thousands of acres off Alaska’s southcentral coast up for auction on December 30 for new oil and gas drilling projects. The lease sale has to be completed by the end of the year to comply with the IRA, which was added to the piece of legislation to win support from West Virginia Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin.

Not Happy Thanksgiving: Biden Stuffs America’s 401(k)s With ESG

On Tuesday, the Department of Labor finalized a rule that provides regulatory cover for retirement plan sponsors who want to emphasize environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in plan management.

Since 1974, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) has rightly required that plan sponsors act “solely in the interest” of employees and beneficiaries when selecting and monitoring investments and casting shareholder votes.

The Trump administration reinforced that principle by prohibiting retirement plans from considering investment attributes that aren’t material to risk or performance. Trump’s DOL explicitly prohibited funds with ESG principles from being used as the default investment for plan participants.

With Biden’s Thanksgiving week move, that’s all out the window, setting up tens of millions of Americans to have their retirement potential clipped as woke corporations corral their money into ESG-tainted investments.

The administration knows it’s doing something that a broad swath of society would find objectionable: In choosing Tuesday of Thanksgiving week to post the rule, the White House was clearly aiming to minimize reporting and public awareness.

In Orwellian fashion, Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh issued a statement declaring that “removing the prior administration’s restrictions on plan fiduciaries will help America’s workers and their families as they save for a secure retirement.”

However, by its very nature, ESG reduces diversification by eliminating broad swaths of the investment universe. That means leaving money on the table. An ESG-managed 401k plan, for example, would have likely prevented employees from benefiting from the 79% year-to-date gain in Exxon Mobil.

As if that weren’t bad enough, the Biden ESG rule is also a handout to asset managers — with the expense borne by employees who are just trying to save for a comfortable future. As Kenneth P. Pucker and Andrew King wrote in the Harvard Business Review in August:

“ESG funds typically charge fees 40 percent higher than traditional funds, making them a timely answer to asset management margin compression.”

But there’s more at stake than dollars and cents. This is just one more scheme by which society is being force-marched into the depths of the broad progressive agenda.

Housing Supply and Property Taxes

In many cities, a shortage of housing supply has led to high housing prices. One problem is that strict zoning rules have undermined the construction of multifamily housing.

Property taxes are another barrier to increased housing supply. The Wall Street Journal has an interesting piece suggesting that taxing buildings as much as, or more than, land induces landlords to hold onto land undeveloped, rather than pushing ahead with building projects.

The article highlights land in New York City near the U.N. that is zoned for construction of 1,500 apartments but has been empty for 17 years while the “owner has paid relatively little in taxes on the property because it doesn’t contain any buildings.” Apparently, “U.S. cities are littered with vacant or sparsely built sites like this one. New York City alone has more than 77,000 lots that are either vacant or have a building that is less than half the size of what zoning allows.”

All taxes distort, but the argument is that property taxes on land distort less than property taxes on buildings. The article continues:

Some economists and housing advocates say there is a common factor behind all this vacant land: a property tax system that combines low taxes on land with high taxes on buildings.

Lawmakers in Detroit, Philadelphia and Richmond, Va., have proposed reforms that would fundamentally change the way property taxes are calculated. When Andrew Yang ran for mayor of New York in 2021, he called for a higher tax on vacant land.

“There can be no doubt that if you shift the tax off of buildings and onto land, you will encourage buildings and discourage land speculation,” said Nicolaus Tideman, a professor of economics at Virginia Tech.

More Warnings About Glyphosate

Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup and other commonly used herbicides, is the most commonly used herbicide in the U.S. Each year 280 million pounds of glyphosate are applied to 298 million acres of U.S. crop land

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) identified glyphosate as a probable human carcinogen in 2015

Significant additional health concerns have been raised, with research linking glyphosate to fatty liver disease, kidney disease and disturbances in the expression of genes associated with fibrosis, necrosis and mitochondrial membrane dysfunction

Glyphosate has synergistic health effects in combination with exposure to other chemicals, like Syngenta’s weedkiller paraquat

Home test kits are available to find out your glyphosate levels. If your glyphosate levels are high, you would be wise to address your diet and consider buying more organic foods, as well as taking steps to detoxify

Twitter Suffers From ‘Ridiculous’ Number of ‘Psy Ops,’ Elon Musk Says

Twitter owner Elon Musk said Monday that the platform suffers from a “ridiculous” number of professional psychological operations (or, “psy ops”), a concept that typically refers to the dissemination of propaganda or, when used by state actors like the military, psychological warfare tactics meant to manipulate one’s enemies.

“The amount of pro psy ops on Twitter is ridiculous!” Musk wrote in a post on Twitter.

He added jokingly that “at least with new Verified, they will pay $8 for the privilege—haha.”

Musk later qualified his statement, responding to a Twitter user’s comment that the psychological operations are “mid”-level rather than professional. Musk conceded that “it’s mostly basic.”

While it’s not clear what, specifically, Musk was referring to in his post on the prevalence of “pro psy ops,” Twitter has, in the past, struggled to deal with foreign state-linked information operations on the platform, including activity it has deemed malicious.

Nutrition and Natural Strategies Offer Hope Against COVID-19

The only real defense against COVID-19 is your own immune system, which works best when fed right. While changing your diet is a commonsense solution for the long term, a rapid-response strategy would be to use vitamin C

Vitamin C strengthens your immune system and kills pathogens, including viruses, when taken in high doses

Other important immune boosting nutrients are vitamin D, magnesium and zinc

A Korean doctor who’s giving patients and hospital staff 100,000 IUs of vitamin D and 20 to 24 grams of vitamin C by IV reports virus-infected patients are getting well in a matter of days

If you own a sauna, now’s the time to put it to regular use. By increasing your core body temperature, which is what happens when you have a fever, your body becomes more efficient at killing pathogens

Why You Must Supplement with Zinc Every Day

It’s a fact that zinc is highly involved in the health of your body. Of all the 59 Trace Elements, Zinc participates in every activity of the human body. Even though zinc is a trace mineral, meaning that the body only needs small amounts, it is required for almost 100 enzymes to carry out vital chemical reactions. Zinc also plays an essential role in making DNA, growth of cells, building proteins, wound healing, blood clotting, thyroid function, and supporting a healthy immune system. Since zinc is not stored in your body, you can see why you need a good source of zinc daily.

Let’s talk about the significance of zinc and why it can be difficult to get enough. Minerals are the most significant deficiency on the planet due to our soils being depleted and sprayed. They are also at the heart of being cofactors for enzymes, making vitamins, like B-12, and making antioxidants and even phytonutrients. Zinc is one of the most widespread micronutrient deficiencies in crops and pastures worldwide and causes considerable losses in crop production and crop quality. Zinc’s primary function in the soil is to help plants make chlorophyll. Plant leaves can lose their normal color, and plant growth becomes stunted when soil is zinc deficient. Phytates (phytic acid) in whole grains, bran, rice, and corn also block zinc. So many things in today’s world can block a sufficient amount of zinc and cause zinc deficiency.

Estimates indicate that more than two billion people are zinc deficient. Zinc is considered the most known micronutrient deficiency and the fifth most important risk factor for disease in developing countries, which is likely due to it being challenging to get and maintain.

Cadmium, a very toxic metal, also inhibits zinc. If you have the proper amount of zinc in your body and then experience exposure to cadmium, there is less of a toxic effect. However, the opposite is also true — the less zinc you have, the more poisonous cadmium becomes. Also, taking an antacid, a Diuretic, or Statins can deplete your zinc, which means you quickly become zinc deficient.

Anthony Fauci’s Daughter Works for Leftist Organization Helping Groups Push Vaccines

One of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s daughters, Alison Fauci, is listed as a software engineer for a leftist organization that, in part, helps groups push coronavirus jabs on the American public.

It has been publicly known that the outgoing White House chief medical advisor’s daughter Alison or “Ali,” works as a software engineer, but her current line of work appears to align with the objectives touted by her father, who is among federal health officials who has been pushing vaccines for the Chinese coronavirus on the American public.

NBC News Reporter Not Seen on Air Since Paul Pelosi Attack Report Retracted

NBC News correspondent Miguel Almaguer has not appeared on the air since a Nov. 4 report on details surrounding the attack targeting Paul Pelosi last month was retracted without explanation.

Almaguer is usually featured on NBC’s “Today” and “Nightly News” programs. Reports earlier this month indicated that he was suspended by the network after the video report was retracted, and he has not been seen on NBC since then.

Meanwhile, NBC News or its parent company has not issued any statements on why Almaguer is gone, if he was suspended, and for how long. Almaguer also has not publicly commented on the matter.

NBC News has not returned a request for comment on Monday on if or when Almaguer will return. The Epoch Times also contacted Almaguer for comment.

After the report was pulled down from its “Today” website, NBC included an editor’s note saying, “This piece has been removed from publication because it did not meet NBC News reporting standards.”

Elon Musk Says Apple Has ‘Threatened’ to Remove Twitter From App Store

Elon Musk on Monday claimed that Apple Inc. is “threatening to withhold Twitter” from its App Store and implied the big tech giant hates “free speech.”

“Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?” he asked. “Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store,” Musk wrote, “but won’t tell us why.” Musk also asked CEO Tim Cook in a post: “What’s going on?”

Musk’s comments about the iPhone maker come following several events that have led to speculation that Apple or Google would potentially block Twitter from their app stores. The head of Apple’s App Store appeared to delete his account last week, while Apple removed all the Twitter posts from its official account around the same time—although Cook’s account is still active.

Also last week, Musk wrote he would make his own phone if Apple and Google were to jettison Twitter from their stores. “I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone,” he said.

‘Longtermism’ and ‘Effective Altruism’ Are The New Faces Of Transhumanism

Futurists don’t just predict coming events. They also seek to shape them. Each prediction is framed to bring about change in a certain direction, whether by bold promises or doomsday prophecies.

For instance, when you hear warnings that artificial intelligence could outsmart humankind and destroy us all—or more precisely, if you believe those claims—there is no choice but to rethink your long-term strategy. Maybe you smash the machines preemptively. Or maybe you teach the AI to be nice and then jam a Neuralink trode in your brain to keep up with the conversation.

To the extent our immediate decisions are guided by these imagined futures, we’re all unwitting tools of the futurist.

After the spectacular crash of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, the twin philosophies of “effective altruism” and “longtermism” have invaded the public consciousness. Like an infestation of eusocial termites, once you notice the first effective altruist crawling around the house, you start to see them everywhere.

Effective altruism is an egghead academic movement focused on helping large numbers of people, or perhaps all conscious entities, on a global scale. One popular proposal is to accumulate as much money as possible, then give it away to charity. These strategies often rely on the sorts of elaborate calculations and convoluted ethical frameworks that only “experts” could concoct.

Longtermism takes this do-gooder ball and runs with it into the distant future. Its proponents imagine how our altruistic actions today might benefit all the conscious minds that will eventually come to exist. In theory, that includes untold trillions of humans living in space, as well as mind uploads and AI bots living in vast digital simulations.

You may have problems today. But if we’re gonna be serious about utilitarianism, the highest moral priority belongs to all the cyborg space invaders yet to be. Sorry, but at the end of the day, there are more of them than you.

Dogs Are Helping to Cure Cancer in Humans

About 4 million dogs are diagnosed with cancer each year in the U.S. Most of the cancers they suffer from are the same that affect humans. Researchers are now enrolling man’s best friend into clinical trials to see if they can find cancer treatments that will benefit both humans and canines alike.

According to CBS News, this technique is called comparative oncology and is being funded in part by the White House’s Cancer Moonshot Initiative. Scientists from the National Institutes of Health recently collected DNA samples from a dog show to launch their investigation.

“Dogs live in our world. They get the same diseases we do. They eat our food,” says Elaine Ostrander, Ph.D., a senior geneticist at NIH. “They’re exposed to the same environmental pollutants. But they also have all the same genes that we do. And they have mutations in those genes that make them susceptible to everything you and I get — whether it’s diabetes or cancer or neuromuscular diseases. Everything humans get, dogs get.”

Ostrander said it is easier to study genes in dogs because they have been bred over the past 200 years to have distinct features such as noses, tails, and specific sizes. She says that means there are a smaller number of genes responsible for most of the major differences that are easier to ferret out.

Since some breeds of dogs get cancer more frequently than others, it’s easier for researchers to locate the genes responsible for the disease. Bladder cancer is 20 times more common in Scottish terriers, for example, than the average mixed breed dog, says CBS News. This makes it easier, says Ostrander, to pinpoint the genetic culprit.

Amazon Turning Democrat Mega-Donor Sam Bankman-Fried’s Cryptocurrency Scandal into TV Show

Amazon Studios is turning the Sam Bankman-Fried FTX cryptocurrency scandal into a limited drama series, with Disney-Marvel veterans Joe and Anthony Russo set to produce and direct, according to a Variety report.

The eight-episode series will dramatize the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, which was co-founded and led by Democrat mega-donor Bankman-Fried — known as “SBF” — who ranks as the party’s second biggest donor for 2022 after George Soros.
