Sweden Opts Out of Joint Probe Into Nord Stream Leak, Declines to Share Findings, Citing National Security

Sweden has opted out of a proposal to set up a formal joint investigation team with Denmark and Germany to investigate the recent leaks of the Russian-owned pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2. Mats Ljungqvist, the Swedish prosecutor involved in the country’s criminal investigation of the leaks in the Swedish economic zone, told Reuters that the country wouldn’t join a joint investigative team from the judicial cooperation agency Eurojust.

According to Eurojust, a joint team is “one of the most advanced tools used in international cooperation in criminal matters, comprising a legal agreement between competent authorities of two or more States for the purpose of carrying out criminal investigations.” Such teams are established for a fixed period that’s typically 12 to 24 months.

Doing so would mean that Sweden would have to share confidential information from its Nord Stream probe that has been withheld. Ljungqvist told Reuters that the information subject to confidentiality is “directly linked to national security.”

U.S. B-52 Stratofortress Bombers to Lead NATO Nuclear Drills over Europe

U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bombers will lead fighter jets from Belgium, Germany, and 12 other countries across Europe’s skies on annual nuclear exercises Monday, amid reports Russia has increased the number of strategic bombers close to its border with NATO-member state Norway.

The annual NATO training is going ahead despite rising fears President Vladimir Putin might consider a real nuclear strike in Ukraine.

War of Words: Russian Army Will Be ‘Annihilated’ if Putin Uses Nukes, Says EU’s Top Diplomat

In another round of escalating rhetoric, the European Union’s top diplomat said that the Russian military would be “annihilated” if Vladimir Putin launches a nuclear strike in Ukraine.

The war or words surrounding the war in Ukraine continued on Thursday, with EU Foreign Affairs Chief Josep Borrell saying that “such a powerful response” would come from the West in response to any nuclear action from Russia, that its military would be wiped out.

Dutch Farmers Promise Fresh Protests After Govt Backs Plan to Forcibly Seize Farmland

Dutch farmers’ organisations have vowed to launch more protests in the Netherlands in response to advice from the government’s mediator, who has called for the forceable relocation of farming firms and the seizure of up to 600 farms deemed to be the heaviest nitrogen emitters.

Farmers Defence Force leader Mark Van den Oever announced this week that Dutch farmers will once again take to the streets after the government expressed its intentions to adopt the plan presented by former deputy prime minister Johan Remkes to meet the nitrogen standards demanded by the European Union.

Christians Who ‘Audibly Pray’, ‘Recite Scripture’, or ‘Cross Themselves’ in Abortion ‘Safe Zone’ Face Prison

Christians who are caught “praying”, “reciting scripture”, or “crossing themselves” near an abortion centre could be sentenced to up to six months in jail in the United Kingdom.

British officials are pushing to have Christians who practice their faith too close to abortion centres jailed under revamped crackdown rules aimed at curbing protests against the practice.

European Prosecutor Investigating COVID-19 Vaccines

A European prosecutor said Oct. 14 it is investigating COVID-19 vaccines.

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) said it has an “ongoing investigation into the acquisition of COVID-19 vaccines in the European Union.”

“This exceptional confirmation comes after the extremely high public interest. No further details will be made public at this stage,” the office said in a statement.

The office declined to answer questions about the investigation, including whether the probe spans the entire European Union (EU) or only certain countries.

“We cannot share more than we did in our statement. If there are any developments we can share, we will do so proactively (as we did today),” a spokesperson told The Epoch Times via email.

Israeli Ministry of Health Confirms Leaked Video Is Real, Issues False Statements

Israel’s Ministry of Health has confirmed that a leaked video showing an expert warning the agency about potentially facing lawsuits over COVID-19 vaccine side effects is real, but issued false statements about the discussion.

Video footage recorded during a meeting held behind closed doors over the summer showed that experts hired to analyze post-vaccination adverse event reports said the analysis proved a causal relationship between some of the events and the vaccines and warned about presenting the data in a certain way in order to avoid lawsuits.

In an official report authorities released about two months later, in August, they said, “The report presents all the cases that were reported in close proximity to the receipt of the coronavirus vaccine, and does not necessarily indicate a causal relationship between receiving the vaccine and the reported phenomenon.”

The ministry, or MoH, repeatedly declined to comment to The Epoch Times about the video and also did not return queries from Yaffa Shir-Raz, a health journalist and professor who obtained the video from a source.

Officials present during the meeting also declined to comment or did not respond to comments and have not commented publicly on the situation.

US Sending $725 Million More in Weapons to Ukraine

The Department of Defense (DOD) has announced that the United States will provide $725 million in additional security assistance to meet Ukraine’s “critical security and defense needs” as it battles a Russian invasion.

“This authorization is the Biden Administration’s 23rd drawdown of equipment from DoD inventories for Ukraine since August 2021. The United States has delivered unprecedented security assistance to Ukraine and will continue to work with allies and partners to ensure Ukraine has the support it needs,” the DOD said in an Oct. 14 statement.

As part of the assistance, the United States will hand over 23,000 155-millimeter (mm) artillery rounds, 5,000 155mm rounds of Remote Anti-Armor Mine (RAAM) Systems, 500 precision-guided 155mm artillery rounds, and additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS).

Ukraine will also receive 5,000 anti-tank weapons, more than 200 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs), High-speed Anti-radiation missiles (HARMs), small arms and more than 2 million rounds of small arms ammunition, and medical supplies.

Since January 2021, the United States has committed more than $18.2 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, of which $17.6 billion was spent after Russia invaded the country in late February. Since 2014, the United States has spent more than $20.3 billion on Ukraine’s security.

PHOTO – CBP Seizes Pumpkins Filled with $402K Worth of Meth in Condoms: ‘Not a Gourd Hiding Spot’

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Eagle Pass, Texas, recently found Halloween decorations filled with a large amount of methamphetamine.

“On Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, CBP officers assigned to Eagle Pass Camino Real International Bridge encountered a 2012 Ford Escape arriving from Mexico. A CBP officer referred the vehicle for further inspection,” the agency said in a press release Wednesday.

Following another examination, officers found nearly 44 pounds of alleged liquid methamphetamine inside 136 condoms hidden within four pumpkins that had been placed in the car.

Ex-FBI Agent Uses ‘Baseless Assertion’ to Reject Testimony Request: House Republicans

Former FBI agent Timothy Thibault has refused to cooperate with a Republican House probe into allegations of abuse and misconduct within his agency, particularly surrounding the Hunter Biden investigation.

Thibault, who left the FBI in August, is being accused by GOP senators of having a political bias against former President Donald Trump and slow-walking the agency’s investigation into Hunter Biden in 2020. In late September, three Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Thibault, demanding the former agent submit himself to a transcribed interview, saying that his testimony was necessary for their oversight of the Justice Department and the FBI.

“Whistleblowers have come to Congress alleging that you were part of a scheme to undermine and discredit allegations of criminal wrongdoing by members of the Biden family. Accordingly, we believe that you possess information relating to our investigation and we request your assistance with our inquiry,” the September letter says.

‘Wild Ride’ Begins With Court Clash Over First US Law to Ban Child Transgender Surgeries

When America’s first law banning “gender transition procedures” for minors was passed in Arkansas last year, it spawned a wave of similar legislation.

But legislative proposals in a dozen other states withered on the vine, while the Arkansas law faced an immediate court challenge that temporarily blocked the law from taking effect in July 2021.

Since then, Alabama and Arizona moved forward and passed their own versions of the Arkansas act, while California took a 180-degree turn to counteract the bans. Last month, California became the nation’s first “sanctuary” state welcoming out-of-state youths who seek puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries.

And now, the Arkansas law, called the Save Adolescents From Experimentation (SAFE) Act, remains closely watched from all sides as it heads to trial in Little Rock starting Oct. 17.

Virginia Democratic Lawmaker Backs Down From Legislation That Would’ve Made It a Crime for Parents Not to Affirm LGBT Child

A Democratic Virginia state delegate has backed down from introducing legislation to expand the definition of child abuse to include inflicting “physical or mental injury” on children because of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

In her interview with local ABC7 on Oct. 13, state Del. Elizabeth Guzman (D-Prince William) said that under the proposed legislation, parents who don’t affirm their children’s choice of gender identity could incur Child Protective Services (CPS) charges that might cause harm to the parents’ employment.

Guzman noted that she wanted to do this to counter the transgender student policy recently released by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). The draft policy requires public schools to acquire written parental consent before treating a student as a different gender.

DOJ Sued for Refusing to Explain Why It Won’t Protect Conservative Supreme Court Justices’ Homes From Protests

A conservative group is suing the U.S. Department of Justice for refusing to explain why it won’t enforce a federal law forbidding what the group called “the recent intimidatory protests carried out by radical abortion supporters” outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices in connection with the reversal of Roe v. Wade earlier this year.

Raucous protests began at the homes of the six right-leaning justices in Maryland and Virginia in the wake of the unprecedented May 2 leak of a draft opinion foreshadowing the court’s June 24 decision to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion precedent, and escalated after the ruling itself was issued.

Nicholas John Roske was arrested on June 8 for his alleged plan to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his Maryland home. Roske reportedly said he wanted to kill Kavanaugh to prevent him from voting to overturn abortion rights and gun control laws.

Section 1507 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code makes it unlawful to picket or parade at or near a residence of a judge with the intent of “influencing any judge … in the discharge of his duty.” Violators face up to a year in prison, a fine, or both. The section has been challenged in previous legal proceedings but has survived constitutional scrutiny.

Body Language Experts Share Advice on How to Tell When Politicians Lie

With midterm elections looming, some voters are still undecided about candidate choices.

And when campaign claims conflict, some wonder, who’s being honest?

That doesn’t have to be a mystery anymore, body language experts told The Epoch Times.

But first, voters seeking to root out the truth must forget everything they’ve been told about how to spot a lie. Wrong are the generations-old myths, such as a liar’s inability to look into the eyes of the person he’s trying to deceive.

“Averting eyes is not a clue of deception, and not looking up to the right, and not looking up to the left—all of that science has been debunked” by at least 22 peer-reviewed studies, says Susan Constantine, an expert on body language.

So what does expose a lie?

There’s no one sign for any person. But there are behaviors all liars have in common, experts say.

More National Security Threats Come From Domestic Left-Wing Extremists: Experts

News Analysis

National security analysts, scholars, and a federal indictment reveal that threats from left-wing extremist groups in the United States are more dangerous than right-wing and “MAGA Republican” groups recently cited by the Biden administration as “threats to democracy.”

According to the U.S. government, some of the left-wing groups are being funded by Russian influence operations to “sow discord, spread pro-Russian propaganda, and interfere in elections within the United States.”

On July 29, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the indictment of a Russian national for working on behalf of the Russian government to sow discord in the United States.

“From at least December 2014 until March 2022, Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov, a resident of Moscow, together with at least three Russian officials, engaged in a years-long foreign malign influence campaign targeting the United States” the indictment alleged.

Ohio Softball Coach Pleads Guilty to Having Sex with 17-Year-Old Student

A former Ohio, high school softball coach faces several years in jail after pleading guilty to multiple sex-related offenses with a student, court records show.

Ashley Rison, a 31-year-old former softball coach, and teacher’s aide, allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student while she worked at New Miami High School in Ohio.

Will James Comey and Robert Mueller Be Prosecuted for Lies John Durham Uncovered?

News Analysis

While special counsel John Durham’s prosecution of Steele dossier source Igor Danchenko appears to be headed toward acquittal, Durham has used the trial to make public a number of revelations that cast the entire Trump-Russia collusion narrative in a fresh light.

Most prominently, Durham revealed that on Oct. 3, 2016, the FBI had offered dossier author Christopher Steele up to $1 million to provide any information, physical evidence, or documentary evidence that could back up the claims in his dossier. But despite the huge reward on offer, Steele did not provide any such information.

Crucially, despite Steele’s failure to back up his dossier, a mere 18 days later the FBI proceeded to obtain a FISA warrant against Trump 2016 presidential campaign adviser Carter Page. In its application to the FISA court, the FBI used the Steele dossier—specifically, its claim that Page was acting as an agent of Russia—as evidence.

Economists: Probability of Recession in 2023 Reaches 60%, Up 10 Points Since September

The probability of a 2023 recession has reached 60 percent, up 10 points since September, according to a Bloomberg monthly survey of economists.

The poll was conducted from October 7-12 with 42 experts predicting a recession.

Chief international economist at ING, James Knightley, told Bloomberg the recession is due in part because of President Joe Biden’s inflation.

Kanye West To Buy Parler

Kanye West, formally known as Ye, is set to acquire the conservative social media platform Parler just days after getting kicked off Twitter.

Parler’s parent company, Parlement Technologies, announced Monday that “it has entered into an agreement in principle to sell Parler” to Ye, who has been “taking a bold stance against his recent censorship from Big Tech.”

“The terms of the proposed transaction would include ongoing technical support from Parliament and the use of private cloud services via Parliament’s private cloud and data center infrastructure,” the statement continued. Ye and Parliament Technologies are expected to close the deal in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Biden’s America: 1 in 4 Americans to Skip Thanksgiving to Save Money

One in five Americans are unsure if they will be able to cover the costs of Thanksgiving this year, and one in four plan to skip it to save money, a recent Personal Capital survey found.

The state of economic affairs in President Joe Biden’s America is affecting Americans’ holiday plans. According to the survey, one quarter of Americans are planning to skip Thanksgiving this year to save money, and one in five “doubted they would have enough money to cover the costs of Thanksgiving this year.”

Retail Sales Fall Flat as Consumer Gets Battered By Inflation

The U.S. consumer pulled back on purchases in September as prices on a wide array of goods and services rose rapidly and interest rates were yanked up by the Federal Reserve.

Retail and restaurant spending was flat for the month, falling short of analyst forecasts for a rise of 0.3 percent, data from the Commerce Department showed Friday. Yet prices on many categories of consumer goods were rising in the month, implying that real sales were down.

BlackRock Downgraded by UBS Over Growing ESG Investing Risks

BlackRock’s focus on the latest Wall Street craze—environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing—has turned into a risky affair for the world’s largest asset manager, a UBS analyst recently said.

Brennan Hawken, an analyst at the bank, downgraded the stock of BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) to Neutral from Buy and slashed the stock price target to $585 from $700 over growing pushback to its ESG efforts.

“We are downgrading BLK to Neutral based on environmental pressure to earnings and risk from the firm’s ESG positioning,” Hawken wrote in a note, stating that BlackRock could face increased regulatory inspection and the possibility of diminished fund management business.

“BLK’s early and energetic adoption of ESG principles in its fund management and shareholder proxy activities have positioned the firm as an ESG leader in our view. However, as performance deteriorates and political risk from ESG has increased, we believe the potential for lost fund mandates and regulatory scrutiny has recently increased.”

According to Market Beat, the average analyst rating is a “Moderate Buy,” with a price target of $776.46.

4 Things to Know About Highest Social Security Cost-of-Living Increase in Decades

Social Security payments will increase by an average of more than $140 per month after the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced the largest cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) since the early 1980s.

The COLA will increase by 8.7 percent for 2023, the SSA confirmed on Oct. 13. But not all federal retirees will see that amount added to their checks. Those in the Federal Employee Retirement System will receive a 7.7 percent COLA starting in January.

The hike came in at 8.7 percent, an attempt to close the gap caused by inflation that reached as high as 9.1 percent in June before tapering off slightly over the summer. Between 2010 and 2020, Social Security COLAs averaged just 1.7 percent.

Overwhelming Majority of CEOs Say They’re Preparing for Recession

Almost all CEOs say they are preparing for a recession in the United States, a recent survey shows.

When asked to describe the economic conditions in the next 12–18 months, 98 percent of CEOs said they were preparing for a U.S. recession in the recent Conference Board Measure of CEO Confidence survey.

However, most of the CEOs believed the recession in America will be “brief and shallow.”

Most CEOs also observed that demand for their company’s products or services increased or remained the same over the past three months.

The survey was conducted between Sept. 19 and Oct. 3 with 136 CEOs participating.

CEO confidence has sunk to its lowest level since the Great Recession, said Dana Peterson, chief economist of The Conference Board.

“However, despite expectations of slow growth, tight labor market conditions and wage pressures persist, while hiring plans remained robust,” he said.

Political and governmental instability, energy access and energy security, and the continued Russia-Ukraine conflict were listed as the three major global challenges by the CEOs.

Alaskan Snow Crab Fishery Closed as Canada, Russia Report Bumper Harvests

Alaskan crabbers and their communities are facing another difficult year after regulators announced that the East Bering Sea will be closed for the 2022 season to snow crab fishing.

“The Bering Sea snow crab fishery is closed for the first time ever,” Jamie Goen, executive director of Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers, said in a statement. “Second and third generation crab-fishing families will go out of business due to the lack of meaningful protections by decision-makers to help crab stocks recover.”

Meanwhile, eastern Canada’s snow crab fishery in the Labrador Sea reported bumper harvests of snow crabs this year, with processors unable to keep up with the workload.

Humans as Bioreactors: How DARPA pioneered the idea behind mRNA vaccines

A nucleic acid vaccine is a vaccine that uses gene delivery methods, such as lipid nanoparticles or viral vectors, to deliver some quantity of either DNA or RNA into a cell. The cell’s own machinery, in the form of RNA polymerases and ribosomes, uses these nucleic acids as instructions to synthesize proteins. In the case of a nucleic acid vaccine, the protein in question is usually one of the structural proteins of a virus, with the aim of generating an antibody response against that specific protein, but this isn’t the only type of product that nucleic acid transfection can produce. Gene transfection into cells can, in fact, make those cells produce any kind of protein, with the right instructions, including monoclonal antibodies, designer receptors, anything imaginable.

In the case of the COVID-19 vaccines, the media and the medical establishment tried getting around this by arguing that since the vaccines did not change the recipient’s DNA, that meant that they weren’t gene therapy. The introduction of foreign nucleic acids into the body to generate foreign proteins is, by definition, gene therapy, regardless of whether or not the subject’s own genes are changed by it. DNA and RNA are genetic material, and if the immune system catches a cell producing non-human proteins, some seriously bad things will happen to that cell.

Unlike a virus, which only binds to specific host factors expressed by specific cell lines and is endocytosed in those specific cells, cationic lipids, like the LNPs used in mRNA vaccines, are capable of transfecting basically any type of cell with instructions to make proteins. LNPs were investigated for many years as a means of delivering Alzheimer’s drugs to the brain, because theyreadily bypass the blood-brain barrier.

When the thing being delivered is a toxin, like SARS-CoV-2 Spike, however, there are serious consequences.

In China, It’s “You Spy, I Spy, We All Spy For Xi Spy”

When Chen picked up his phone to vent his anger at getting a parking ticket, his message on WeChat was a drop in the ocean of daily posts on China’s biggest social network.

But soon after his tirade against “simple-minded” traffic cops in June, he found himself in the tentacles of the communist country’s omniscient surveillance apparatus.

Chen quickly deleted the post, but officers tracked him down and detained him within hours, accusing him of “insulting the police”.

He was locked up for five days for “inappropriate speech”.

His case — one of the thousands logged by a dissident and reported by local media — laid bare the pervasive monitoring that characterises life in China today.

Its leaders have long taken an authoritarian approach to social control.

But since President Xi Jinping took power in 2012, he has reined in the relatively freewheeling social currents of the turn of the century, using a combination of technology, law and ideology to squeeze dissent and preempt threats to his rule.

Ostensibly targeting criminals and aimed at protecting order, social controls have been turned against dissidents, activists and religious minorities, as well as ordinary people — such as Chen — judged to have crossed the line.

Courts Could Allow Chemical Castration of 10-Year-Old Son But Not Haircut: Texas Father

Texas father Jeff Younger is prepared to file a federal lawsuit if his ex-wife moves to California in an attempt to chemically castrate their 10-year-old son under the state’s new transgender sanctuary law.

Younger made the announcement concerning his high-profile custody battle on Saturday at the Patriarch Convention, a conference on fatherhood and family issues held as part of the 21 Summit in Orlando, Florida, this weekend.

The Patriarch Convention is one of three conventions being held simultaneously under the 21 Summit umbrella, which includes the anti-feminist 22 Convention “to make women great again,” and the 21 Convention to improve views about masculinity and “make men alpha again.”

In a text to The Epoch Times, Younger added he would take his fight to save his son, James, to the U.S. Supreme Court.

“You need to stop looking for leaders that talk … you need to start looking at people who have done things,” he told the audience.

Younger, an orthodox Christian, said psychology and medicine have been weaponized against conservatives, who do not have a strategy to stop the progressive left from their decades-long push to take over democratic institutions.

“They are going to take your children; they’re going to educate them to destroy everything that you’ve built—that is the goal,” he said.

Popular Athletic Clothing Brands Have High Levels of Hormone Disrupting Chemical BPA: Watchdog Group

Sports bras and athletic shirts made by some of the major global sports brands were found to contain dangerous levels of the estrogen-mimicking chemical bisphenol A, commonly known as BPA, posing a considerable risk to people’s health, according to legal notices sent by the Center for Environmental Health (CEH).

BPA—an endocrine disrupting chemical that upsets the body’s functioning through blocking or mimicking hormones—is linked to developmental and health problems mostly for young children. For adults, studies have found that high levels of the chemical results in heart problems, while experts have connected BPA to obesity, diabetes, ADHD, and other ailments, with more research pending for definitive conclusions.

The CEH has sent legal notices to Athleta, PINK, Asics, The North Face, Brooks, All in Motion, Nike, and FILA regarding sports bras, and The North Face, Brooks, Mizuno, Athleta, New Balance, and Reebok for its activewear shirt collection. Testing conducted on branded clothing showed that individual wearers were exposed to 22 times the safe limit as permitted under California law.

“Studies have shown that BPA can be absorbed through skin and end up in the bloodstream after handling receipt paper for seconds or a few minutes at a time. Sports bras and athletic shirts are worn for hours at a time, and you are meant to sweat in them, so it is concerning to be finding such high levels of BPA in our clothing,” said Kaya Allan Sugerman, director of the Illegal Toxic Threats Program at CEH.

Investigations by the agency have discovered BPA in polyester-based clothing with spandex, including socks made for infants.

“Even low levels of exposure during pregnancy have been associated with a variety of health problems in offspring,” said Dr. Jimena Diaz Leiva, science director at CEH, in the press release. The resultant abnormal developmental growth can increase the likelihood of “developing breast or ovarian cancer later in life.”

The Epoch Times reached out to Nike, Fila, New Balance, Reebok, The North Face, Mizuno, and Asics for comment. Athleta, Pink, Brooks, and All in Motion could not be reached.

Scientists Discover How Cancer Cells ‘Hijack’ Cells and Spread Around the Body

Many patients with cancers die as a result of metastasis, a process whereby the cancer spreads from the primary organ to other organs around the body.

“These findings are among the most important to have come out of my lab for three decades,” said Richard Gilbertson, one of the leading researchers of a recent study and the director of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute.

Researchers from the U.K. and the U.S. collaborated in a September study published in Nature Genetics to uncover how cancer cells “hijack” normal cells to metastasize around the body. They identified a protein, NALCN, as a key that regulates metastasis.

“If validated through further research, this could have far-reaching implications for how we prevent cancer from spreading and allow us to manipulate this process to repair damaged organs,” Gilbertson said.

Normally, the sodium leak channel non-selective protein (NALCN) is responsible for maintaining resting charges of cell membranes in excitable tissues, including respiration and circadian rhythms.

In this study, scientists uncovered the role of NALCN in excitable tissues such as skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle cells. They found that NALCN regulates the release of malignant and normal epithelial cells—a type of cell that covers the inside and outside surfaces of the body—into the blood. NALCN also regulates the trafficking of both malignant and normal epithelial cells to distant sites where they form metastatic cancers or apparently normal tissues, respectively.

Study: Video Games Can Be Lethal for Children With Heart Conditions

A new study by the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network has found that electronic gaming can be deadly for children with heart conditions.

The study, published Oct. 10 in the journal Heart Rhythm,  revealed that playing video games can cause life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia—an irregular heartbeat—in susceptible children, who may have an undiagnosed heart condition.

Australian researchers reviewed 69 reports on cardiovascular risks from electronic gaming, identifying 22 children and teens who lost consciousness while playing video games and experienced irregular heart rhythms and other heart complications.

Nineteen of the primarily male gamers, age 7-16, experienced ventricular arrhythmia, a severe abnormal heartbeat that can cause cardiac arrest. Six had heart attacks, and four died suddenly.

In a news release, lead investigator Claire M. Lawley, with The Heart Centre for Children in Sydney, Australia, pointed out the hidden dangers video games might pose.

“Video games may represent a serious risk to some children with arrhythmic conditions; they might be lethal in patients with predisposing, but often previously unrecognized arrhythmic conditions,” she said. “Children who suddenly lose consciousness while electronic gaming should be assessed by a heart specialist, as this could be the first sign of a serious heart problem.”

Of the 22 cases in the study who suffered heart problems, 86 percent were male and 14 percent were female.

Quercetin’s Effect on Blood Pressure

A Japanese study identified one mechanism behind the blood pressure-lowering actions of quercetin. It is related to the action of negative chloride ions in the cell’s cytosol, influencing volume-dependent high blood pressure

Quercetin is often combined with vitamin C or bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme found in pineapple stems. The combination increases the absorption and bioavailability of the supplement

Quercetin is known to combat inflammation and support your immune system. It has strong antiviral properties and likely is a far safer alternative to antiviral drugs like Tamiflu, which shortens flu by only hours and has significant side effects such as convulsions, hallucinations and memory deterioration

Other lesser-known health benefits of quercetin include the prevention or treatment of metabolic syndrome, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), gout, mood disorders and against aluminum-induced neurodegenerative changes

Ghost Towns Resurfacing as Lakes Recede Amid Worsening Western Drought

Every two or three years, Lake Isabella’s shoreline pulls back almost like clockwork, and the former town of Old Kernville, California, rises from its watery grave to reveal its crumbling skeleton.

Retired Hollywood cinematographer Chuck Barbee has watched the lake give up its famous ghost town many times with interest.

The main difference today, he said, is that the abandoned town, once known as Whiskey Flat, has been exposed far longer than usual. Part of it is due to dam activity and the western drought that began in 2000.

“The town itself is fascinating. It has quite a history,” said Barbee, who lived in the town next door, which became the new Kernville, as a teenager and later moved back after a long career in movies and television.

A PR firm that represents big pharma companies like Pfizer and Moderna has been revealed to staff certain divisions in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the pandemic, sparking questions regarding potential conflicts of interest.

Based in New York, Weber Shandwick is reportedly the second-largest PR firm in the world with revenues of over $830 million and around 4,700 employees worldwide. It has employees working inside the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD)—the section of the agency that implements vaccine programs and oversees the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), according to an exposé newsletter by investigative journalist Paul D. Thacker.

A “$50 million contract allows PR firm to be ‘embedded at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta as part of the Division of Viral Diseases team,’” said Thacker in a tweet Tuesday, adding details like Linkedin information on employees of the PR firm working within the CDC.

“I started sending questions to the CDC last week, contacting CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, yesterday. The CDC still refuses to respond,” he said.

Weber Shandwick won a CDC contract potentially worth $50 million in October 2020 to promote influenza vaccines as well as the agency. Based on NCIRD documents, Weber employees would handle communications, marketing, and promotion tours for suggested actions during outbreaks and vaccine recommendations.

Thacker pointed to a Linkedin account of a former Weber employee detailing his duties at the CDC “focuses on boosting vaccination rates for flu, HPV, whooping cough, and COVID-19.”

In November 2020, Pfizer announced that its COVID-19 vaccine met all primary efficacy endpoints during clinical trials, and the following month, the FDA granted the company Emergency Use Authorization for its vaccine rollout.

How Cancer Deaths From the COVID Jabs Are Being Hidden

Analysis of U.S. Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) data suggests the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been filtering and redesignating cancer deaths as COVID deaths since April 2021 to eliminate the cancer signal

The signal is being hidden by swapping the underlying cause of death with main cause of death

Uncontrollable turbo-charged cancers the medical establishment had never seen before only started to occur after the rollout of the COVID jabs

Before it was manipulated to eliminate the safety signal, data from the Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) showed cancer rates among military personnel and their families tripled after the rollout of the shots

After the rollout of the COVID jabs in 2021, cancer patients have gotten younger, with the largest increase occurring among 30- to 50-year-olds, tumor sizes are dramatically larger, multiple tumors in multiple organs are becoming more common, and recurrence and metastasis are increasing

Why Additional Engineered Pandemics Are To Be Expected

Early on in the COVID pandemic, Francis Boyle, Ph.D., was sure it was the result of a lab leak. He believes monkeypox is another lab creation, as it now suddenly has 30 mutations from the wild monkeypox found in Africa

President Biden recently signed the Executive Order on Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation for a Sustainable, Safe and Secure American Bioeconomy, and this order basically promises we’ll see additional manmade pandemics

Section 12, paragraph VII in Biden’s executive order states that the purpose of the order is to “develop and work and promote and implement … dual-use research of concern, and research involving potentially pandemic and other high-consequence pathogens”

That means they intend to perform gain-of-function research on deadly pathogens, any one of which could be released to create a global pandemic when a scare event is necessary to trick populations into choosing a false sense of safety over freedom. Boyle believes there’s no doubt there will be additional pandemics, because they’re intentionally creating them

Boyle believes monkeypox was engineered and released in an effort to scare governments and populations into accepting the World Health Organization’s pandemic treaty, which would make the WHO the sole decision-maker in pandemic situations

Menstrual Abnormalities Lasting for Months Following COVID-19 Shot ‘Very Concerning’: Doctor

The data collected from Israel’s adverse events reporting system showing that some women experienced menstrual disorders for more than 12 months after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine raises concerns, according to Dr. Shelly Cole, an obstetrician-gynecologist in Texas.

“Looking at the Israeli data is very concerning,” Cole told The Epoch Times.

Military Officers Decry Pentagon’s Lack of Response to Senator’s Queries About COVID-19 Vaccine Labeling

Military officers have criticized the Department of Defense (DoD) and other agencies for their lack of response to a senator’s queries regarding the labeling of COVID-19 vaccines distributed to service members.

In August, a group of military whistleblowers delivered a 41-page memorandum to members of Congress, alleging that the DoD had “unlawfully administered” Emergency Use Authorized (EUA) vaccines, as opposed to vaccines that had received full Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.

They argued that EUA vaccines do not fall under the Pentagon’s vaccine mandate because the mandate said it applied to “COVID-19 vaccines that receive full licensure from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in accordance with FDA-approved labeling and guidance.”

Although the Pentagon has issued a policy (pdf) saying the FDA-approved Comirnaty and EUA Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are interchangeable, the legality of this policy is contested by some service members.

The memo also alleged that new Comirnaty-labeled vials, which ostensibly have full FDA approval, carry lot numbers associated with EUA vaccines.

We Need to Talk: There’s a Serious Veterinarian Shortage Right Now

There’s a big problem for everyone seeking medical care for their new family members, and they might not even know it: We’re in the middle of a veterinary workforce crisis.

“There is a constant need for veterinarian help in both relief and full time capacities,” Dr. Marisa Altieri, a relief small animal veterinarian who works in both Colorado in and New York, tells The Wildest. “As a member of various veterinarian relief groups on social media, this appears to be the resounding theme nationwide.”

“It’s now common to see emergency clinics diverting patients or closing their doors for days at a time because they don’t have enough staff to meet the demand,” Dr. Alycia Washington, a veterinarian in North Carolina, confirms. “Diverting used to be reserved for extreme circumstances, and shutting down was unheard of, but now hospitals are living in crisis mode and have been for the past few years.”

But while the crisis may have reached alarming heights during the pandemic, in reality, it has been building for years — and for many reasons.

The Gift of Perseverance Is Never Obsolete

Most Americans and Canadians probably still remember the popular anthology television series called The Twilight Zone, created by Rod Serling, which aired from 1959 through 1964, and continues in syndication today. Each episode tells a story in which the characters deal with often disturbing or unusual events, usually with a surprise ending and a lesson to be learned. Even today the phrase “twilight zone,” inspired by the series, is used in popular Western culture to describe strange or difficult-to-explain experiences.

One of the most memorable episodes was The Obsolete Man (Season 2, Episode 29, 6/2/1961). It described a future society ruled by a totalitarian state that took the tenets of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao to a greater extreme. Citizens determined to have no useful function to the state were declared obsolete, or nonessential, and executed. Romney Wordsworth was brought in and put on trial before the Chancellor to determine his existence in society. He professed his occupation as a librarian, and his belief in God. Since the state had eliminated books and libraries, it determined there was no use for librarians. Also, since the state had determined that God did not exist, all those who expressed faith in God were deemed to be without value. After an acerbic exchange, the Chancellor determined Mr. Wordsworth to be obsolete and sentenced him to death.

Clinton Associate Testifies He Lied About Claim That Made Its Way Into Dossier

A longtime associate of the Clinton family admitted under oath on Oct. 13 that he lied when he said he spoke to a Republican friend about GOP drama.

“I lied. I got it off cable news,” Charles Dolan, the associate, testified during Igor Danchenko’s criminal trial in U.S. court in Virginia.

Dolan provided information to Danchenko, a key source for the anti-Donald Trump dossier that Hillary Clinton helped fund.

Danchenko is on trial for allegedly lying to FBI agents when he said he had not communicated with Dolan about any of the allegations in the dossier, according to charging documents. Danchenko actually sourced from Dolan at least one of the allegations he provided to dossier author Christopher Steele, a Clinton supporter who harbored animus against Trump.

On Aug. 20, 2016, Dolan messaged Danchenko, relaying what he portrayed as inside information about Trump campaign officials Corey Lewandowski and Paul Manafort.

“I had a drink with a GOP friend of mine who knows some of the players and got some of what is in this article, which provides even more detail. She also told me that Corey Lewandowski, who hates Manafort and still speaks to Trump, regularly played a role. He is said to be doing a happy dance over it,” Dolan said, including a link to a news article. “I think the bottom line is that in addition to the Ukraine revelations, a number of people wanted Manafort gone. It is a very sharp elbows crowd.”

Dolan admitted on Thursday he fabricated the “GOP friend.”

“Mr. Danchenko had brought me some business. I wanted to tell him that his sources were good. The woman was on cable news,” Dolan said on the stand. “Lewandowski hating Manafort, it was pretty common knowledge and all over the news at the time.”

Dolan’s information eventually made its way into the dossier, which included numerous allegations that have since been discredited.

According to court filings via the Atlanta Constitution-Journal, Arthur Lee Confield Jr., 31, allegedly impersonated movie mogul Sidney Kimmel, 94, and convinced financial services company Charles Schwab to wire $11 million from the billionaire’s bank account to a company in Idaho to purchase 6,106 American Eagle gold coins.

Arizona Democrat Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail for Ballot Harvesting

An Arizona Democrat has been sentenced to 30 days in jail because of her involvement in a local ballot harvesting scheme during a 2020 municipal election.

Guillermina Fuentes, a 66-year-old school board member and former mayor of the border town of San Luis, was ordered Thursday to turn herself in to the Yuma County Jail, according to the office of Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. She was also placed on two years of probation.

Fuentes, alongside her associate Alma Juarez, earlier this year pleaded guilty to one count each of ballot abuse. She was accused of illegally collecting early ballots from four individuals who were not her family members during the August 2020 primary. Investigators reported at that time that she was using her position in the San Luis community to persuade local voters to let her or her acquaintances deposit their ballots.

According to the report (pdf), the Arizona Attorney General’s office started investigating Fuentes following a complaint of a potential case of voter fraud. Video evidence provided to investigators apparently showed that Fuentes was collecting and filling out ballots at a table outside a polling place.

“A group of subjects, lead by Guillermina Fuentes were seen on video manning a table and appearing to be supporting particular candidates,” the report reads. “A female identified as Alma Juarez approached the table and made contact with a second female identified as Guillermina Fuentes. Fuentes is ultimately observed taking a ballot from Juarez.”
