Activated Charcoal is known for trapping harmful chemicals and toxins in it’s tiny pores, a chemical process called adsorption. In this process, activated charcoal adsorbs chemicals and toxins from your bloodstream so they will no longer cause harm to your body.
My reason for taking 2 charcoal tablets every night at bedtime is that charcoal actually helps in premature aging. It aides with supporting the adrenal glands and aids in preventing cellular damage to the liver and kidneys. Goodness!!! Who wouldn’t want that ???
When taking activated charcoal you rid your body of unwanted substances. Charcoal is “activated” by processing it at very high temperatures. This process changes it’s internal structure, reducing the size of its’ pores and increasing it’s surface area. Just an FYI, if you want to whiten your teeth, charcoal can work wonders. A little messy, but well worth it. Place a little charcoal on a wet toothbrush and brush way! It works to whiten teeth by adsorbing plaque and microscopic particles that stain your teeth.
A charcoal poultice can also be prepared and used to help relieve some pain and pull toxins out of your body. The charcoal attracts the toxins and then bonds to them as they leave the body, they enter the charcoal. To make your poultice you will need activated charcoal powder, water, some type of cloth or bandage, or a strip of cloth and plastic wrap. Mix your charcoal with some water, spread over your cloth then place on injured body part. Wrap with plastic wrap then cover entire area with an ace bandage to hold in place. Leave on for about 10 hours. Replacing when area is dried up. You may also add 3 tablespoons of flax seed or use cornstarch to keep your poultice moist.
Always make a fresh poultice, do not re-use.
