The Power Hour

Knowledge is Power

Today’s News: August 28, 2023

Today’s Top 5:
Word twisting and spin at its finest … after the interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling (on Trump’s arrest in Fulton County, GA), CNN analyst and former FBI chief Andrew McCabe said Friday on “Inside Politics” that former Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-AK) comments on civil war over the arrest of former President Donald Trump were encouraging “political violence.”

1.Sarah Palin: Civil War Is ‘Going to Happen’ — ‘We’re Not Going to Keep Putting Up with This’

Former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) said Thursday on Newsmax TV’s “The Balance” that a civil war was “going to happen” over former President Donald Trump’s indictments.

Eric Bolling asked, “We’ve talked about the two tiered justice system but when you see it happening, when you see the former president being fingerprinted, having to show up turn himself in. You see the mug shots of the other seven or eight who turned themselves in already. Do you have concern for the country as I do?”

This should send a huge message to black voters!

2.Former Black Voices for Trump Director Still in Jail as Others Post Bond in Fulton Case: Records

One of former President Donald Trump’s co-defendants in the election fraud case in Georgia remained in jail Friday after Trump and the 17 others charged in the case had reported to jail and posted bond.

Court records showed defendant Harrison Floyd, the former leader of Black Voices for Trump, was due to appear in court on Friday morning. However, Judge Scott McAfee told reporters that he would not appear after all.

Later, the judge said court records contained “misinformation” about Mr. Floyd’s case, although he did not elaborate. “Mr. Floyd is entitled to a first appearance … one will not be happening today here,” Mr. McAfee told reporters.

As we predicted last week on The Power Hour …

3.The Best Trump Mugshot Memes Taking over Social Media

So far, that mugshot has generated another $7.1-million in donations to the Trump 2024 campaign!

While democrats celebrated what they consider to a be a victory over MAGA, conservatives recognize the timeless iconic quality of former President Donald Trump’s mugshot as the result of refusing to back down against the deep state. At the same time, conservative meme makers were busy cooking up images that are now spreading like wildfire on social media.

FAA: Nearly 5,000 Pilots Allegedly Lied About Having Medical Conditions Which Would Bar Them from Flying

Nearly 5,000 pilots are suspected to have lied about having mental health conditions and other health disorders which would prevent them from flying.

The Washington Post broke the news that nearly 600 of those pilots being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) fly planes for passenger flights and over 4,800 are veterans receiving disability benefits. The Post reported:

The pilots under scrutiny are military veterans who told the Federal Aviation Administration that they are healthy enough to fly, yet failed to report — as required by law — that they were also collecting veterans benefits for disabilities that could bar them from the cockpit.

Veterans Affairs investigators discovered the inconsistencies more than two years ago by cross-checking federal databases, but the FAA has kept many details of the case a secret from the public.

FAA spokesman Matthew Lehner acknowledged in a statement that the agency has been investigating approximately 4,800 pilots “who might have submitted incorrect or false information as part of their medical applications.” The FAA has now closed about half of those cases, he said, and has ordered about 60 pilots — who Lehner said “posed a clear danger to aviation safety” — to cease flying on an emergency basis while their records are reviewed.

Data collected by the National Transportation Safety Board shows that pilots’ medical issues were the cause of 9 percent of fatal aviation accidents from 2012 to 2022.

Kevin McCarthy Orders U.S. Capitol Flag Lowered to Half-Staff to Honor 13 Troops Killed in Afghanistan

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) ordered the U.S. Capitol flags to be flown at half-staff to honor the 13 troops killed two years ago in President Joe Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.

“Two years ago today, we tragically lost 13 brave servicemen and women in Afghanistan,” McCarthy said in a statement online. “I have directed the flags at the U.S. Capitol to be lowered to half-staff in honor of these American heroes.”

Las Vegas Hotel Guests Test Positive For Legionnaires’ Disease: Health District

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) said on Aug. 24 that it was investigating cases of Legionnaires’ disease—a severe form of pneumonia—among guests who stayed in two Las Vegas hotels between Aug. 1 and Aug. 23.

Two guests who stayed at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino and one guest who stayed at The Orleans Hotel and Casino had been diagnosed with the disease, the health district stated in two separate releases.

Legionnaires’ disease stems from Legionella bacteria, which can cause fever, cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, and headaches, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Biden Admin Invests $24 Million in mRNA Technology to Treat Cancer, Other Diseases

The Biden administration is investing up to $24 million to develop messenger RNA-based (mRNA) platforms and technology aimed at more effectively fighting cancer and other diseases.

The administration’s new biomedical research agency, the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), is providing the $24 million investment in the “Curing the Uncurable via RNA-Encoded Immunogene Tuning” (CUREIT) project, according to an Aug. 23 statement from the White House.

CUREIT will be led by a team at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Recent Mask Mandates Lifted Amid Pushback

Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa, California, on Aug. 24 reversed a recent policy that would require masks in its hospital after it reinstated the mandate days before. A Hollywood studio also said it would do away with its mandate.

Officials for the hospital system told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat that the mask policy applies only to staff, not patients. It said that it is “strongly encouraging masks for patients, members, and visitors in the hospital and medical offices in the Santa Rosa Service Area in response to this latest increase in COVID-19 cases.”

“Our intent was to communicate that as of Tuesday, we have expanded the masking requirement for our employees and physicians to medical offices and clinic settings; we apologize for any confusion among Press Democrat readers,” Kaiser said in its latest statement.

Sen. Johnson Sounds Alarm on Return of COVID-19 Mask Mandates

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) is sounding the alarm after a small number of offices, hospitals, and schools reinstated mask mandates in recent days.

Describing the mandates as “alarming,” Mr. Johnson told the Moms for Liberty group on Aug. 23 that they are ineffective and said he would keep fighting them.

“It’s alarming that the mandates are kicking in again,” he told the group. “It’s like, OK, we noticed masks didn’t work, particularly for children. We always knew they didn’t work for kids.”

The Wisconsin Republican said, “N-95 masks can have some marginal benefits—but not to deny people freedom.”

Mr. Johnson has said he was always skeptical of federal vaccine mandates and has been an advocate for people who claimed to have been injured by COVID-19 vaccines. He also called on the Biden administration to admit that its COVID-19 policies didn’t work.

“They’ll never admit they were wrong in how they handled COVID. I don’t see how anybody can take a look at how the federal government—really, over the course of two administrations—how they handled COVID, and say it was anything but a complete and miserable failure,” he told the Washington Examiner in May.

IRS Bows to Pressure, Grants 2-year Reprieve on 401(K) Catch-Up Contribution Rule

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has agreed to put a two-year freeze on implementation of a contentious new rule that requires catch-up contributions by higher-income participants in 401(k) and similar retirement plans to be designated as after-tax Roth contributions.

Bowing to public pressure, the IRS has agreed to provide an administrative transition period until 2026 that postpones enforcement of a new provision in the SECURE 2.0 Act that requires catch-up contributions by higher-earning retirement plan participants to be designated not as pre-tax contributions to plans like the 401(k) but as after-tax contributions to Roth IRA accounts.

The new Roth catch-up contribution rule (Section 603 of the SECURE 2.0 Act) applies to people who participate in 401(k), 403(b), or 457(b) plans and whose prior-year Social Security wages exceeded $145,000.

A work stoppage by nearly 150,000 UAW workers at GM, Ford and Stellantis would result in an economic loss of more than $5 billion after 10 days, according to Anderson Economic Group.

The Michigan-based consulting firm estimates the total economic loss by calculating potential losses to UAW workers, the manufacturers and to the auto industry more broadly.

During the last round of bargaining in 2019, a breakdown in negotiations between the Detroit automakers and the UAW led to a national 40-day strike against GM that cost it $3.6 billion.

AI Humanoid Pilot Might be Able To Solve Pilot Shortage

Our readers know there’s yet to be a quick solution to the US pilot shortage, which may linger until 2032. Current data shows a staggering 17,000-pilot gap. This shortfall can be attributed to several factors:

  • Early retirements spurred by the pandemic.
  • The unyielding retirement age of 65.
  • A dwindling number of pilots from the military.
  • The unappealing prospect for civilians to embark on a pilot career.

Microsoft Files For a Face-Tracking Patent

A patent filed in the US shows that Microsoft is working on technology that would allow it to track a person’s face in a way so comprehensive that the device powered by the tech could be referred to as a “face reader.”

And it could be used for gaming, but also for tracking remote employees. And who knows what else in between.

Microsoft says it needs the patent approved to develop mixed reality headsets that would be cheaper yet better at “understanding” expressions on human faces.

The patent filing doesn’t go into many considerations other than those of a purely technical nature, and this in a nutshell is how the under-development technology works.

Currently, converters are used that are not only bulkier to render high resolution tracking but also cost more to manufacture.

Now Microsoft wants to replace this method of tracking with elements directly embedded, circumventing the need for converters, and also what’s referred to as processing circuit area.

While the Maui firestorm details are still being unraveled, nearly 40 million acres of forest has incinerated in Canada since late spring. This staggering number equates to nearly 60 thousand square miles, an area nearly the size of the state of Georgia that has gone up in flames in only a few short months. Other countries that have been and are incinerating include Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, France, the Canary Islands, Kazakhstan, the UK and more. Where is mainstream media coverage of these incinerations? Constant “high pressure heat domes” are baking numerous parts of the world including the US where Kansas just hit a record shattering heat index temperature of 134 degrees. Last week ABC news stated the firestorms are going to “get worse”. Fisheries are collapsing along with crops as ocean temperatures continue to skyrocket. Ninety Percent of Sea Salt Contains Plastic

Salt in your diet … Research da􏰄ta show 90% of sea salt sold worldwide contains plastic microparticles, leading researchers to believe most􏰄 people consume nearly 2,000 particles a year in their sea salt. Your body requires a specific sodium-to-potassium ratio to normalize your blood pressure. Low salt intake may result in an increased risk of heart􏰄 disease and osteoporosis, and low magnesium levels accompanied by a long list of other potential health risks.  Today, salt is mined from deep in the earth or extracted from saltwater sources. Your best option to salt your whole foods is Himalayan sea salt, created long before the environment was polluted by plastics and chemical toxins.

Five ways to take control of your health … and stay out of the hospital!

  1. Get one hour of daily sunshine (with minimal clothing).
  2. Eliminate vegetable seed oils (soybean, cottonseed, canola, corn and safflower) from your diet.
  3. Avoid ALL processed and ultra-processed foods (restaurant-created foods, sauces and salad dressings).
  4. Walk one hour a day (ideally outdoors; you can combine #1 that way), with a goal of 8,000 steps once or twice a week.
  5. Improve mitochondrial function in your cells in any way possible (with supplements from The Power Mall).

Weedkiller’s cancer link: New review adds to the case

It’s unfortunate that the term “weedkiller” has become so closely associated with cancer – just look no further than the ongoing litigations between cancer patients and Big Agricultural powerhouse Monsanto, the notorious creator of Roundup.

But as industry-backed “experts” continue to claim that the link between the world’s most popular herbicide and cancer is “controversial,” we continue to see more evidence showing just how plausible and indeed probable it is that this toxin is causing serious harm to humans.

Tame sunburn pain with these 3 natural remedies

Clear skies, blue water, and silky sand under a radiant sun – is there a more perfect recipe for summer bliss?  But, without common-sense precautions, even this glorious experience can send you home with a painful souvenir: sunburn.

An inflammatory reaction caused by overexposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, sunburn affects one out of three Americans every year.  Fortunately, minor cases of sunburn can be addressed with natural interventions that help minimize damage and speed healing.  If you realize too late that you’ve overdone it on the sun, you may want to whip up one or more of these cooling, evidence-based sunburn soothers.

Chamomile tea contains a “trifecta” of healing compounds to ease sunburn

Brewed from the yellow-and-white flowers of the chamomile plant, chamomile tea contains bisoprolol, chamazulene, and apigenin – a trio of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory compounds that can accelerate cell renewal and soothe irritated skin.  Botanically known as Matricaria recutita, chamomile also has antimicrobial properties that help prevent skin infections.  Highly prized in herbal healing for its therapeutic properties, chamomile has earned the endorsement of many contemporary practitioners as well.

For example, board-certified cosmetic dermatologist Dendy Engelman, M.D., FACMS, FAAD, advises topical chamomile for skin care.  While clinical research on chamomile for skincare is limited, animal studies suggest that the essential oil can alleviate atopic dermatitis.  To use, simply soak a clean washcloth in cooled chamomile tea and place it over sunburned areas.  Before using chamomile tea to ease sunburn, check with your holistic healthcare provider.  And don’t use it if you are allergic.  (A sensitivity to ragweed and members of the aster family – such as daisies, marigolds, and chrysanthemums – makes a reaction more likely).

Cool sunburn with aloe vera gel

Aloe vera gel, from the spiky plant botanically known as Aloe barbadensis, has a venerable history in herbal medicine for alleviating burns.

Aloe’s therapeutic effects are believed to arise from its content of aloin, an anthraquinone with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and painkilling properties.  (Antioxidant vitamins and beneficial fatty acids may also contribute to aloe vera’s ability to maintain moisture and promote skin healing).

Aloe vera’s reputation received a solid boost in 2022 when a review published in Cureus showed that aloe vera gel was superior to silver sulfadiazine in speeding the healing of second-degree burns.

Many holistic doctors advise using pure aloe vera gel straight from the plant.  Snip the leaves close to the stem, where healing compounds are the most concentrated.  After washing and drying, trim the spiky edges and scoop out the clear gel at the center.  Apply the chilled gel to affected areas several times a day.  If you don’t have access to a live aloe plant, try to purchase 100 percent pure aloe vera gel rather than an “aloe-based” lotion or cream, which may contain alcohol or other irritants.  Of course, check with your holistic doctor before using aloe vera for sunburn.  —> Get premium aloe gel from The Power Mall:WILLARD WATER ALOE GEL

Baking soda is a trusted “old-school” remedy for sunburn

Sodium bicarbonate – commonly known as baking soda – can be a surprisingly effective remedy for sunburn.  With a pH of 9, this alkalizing powder seems to have the “right stuff” for reducing pain and calming inflamed tissues.  Simply mix two tablespoons with enough cool water to make a paste.  Apply, leave on for ten minutes, and carefully rinse off.

Alternately, you can add three heaping tablespoons of baking soda to a tub of cool water and soak for 20 minutes.  For a calming aroma and added comfort, splash in a few drops of lavender essential oil, which has been shown in studies to have mild painkilling and relaxant properties.

After a baking soda bath, you should apply a gentle, dye-free moisturizer or oil intended for sensitive skin.  Convenient, inexpensive and safe, good old-fashioned baking soda can be a useful weapon against sunburn.  Again, get the “thumbs-up” from your holistic physician before trying baking soda on your sunburn.

Delayed Headaches Occurring After COVID Shot Raise Red Flags: Researcher

Reports of headaches after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine have been common. While most are nonserious and treatable, researchers in Iran who conducted a new study published in Frontiers in Neurology warn that delayed headache onset “should be considered a red flag.”

According to a survey of nearly 2,000, primarily female respondents, the prevalence of headaches after the first, second, or third vaccine doses was 36.5 percent, 23.3 percent, and 21.7 percent, respectively.

Some people are at high risk of postvaccination headaches, including people with primary headaches, post-COVID-19 headaches, headaches following a previous dose, postvaccination fever, and those who received vector vaccines (such as AstraZeneca and the Johnson & Johnson vaccines), according to the researchers.

Mask Mandates Will Not Come to These US States

Mask mandates will not be coming to Texas and Florida, based on posts published by the states’ governor and Surgeon General, respectively.

While Greg Abbott said in a brief post on X that “There will be NO mask mandates in Texas,” the Health Officer and Surgeon General of Florida, Joseph Ladapo, had a bit more to say: “What do you call re-imposing mask policies that have been proven ineffective or restarting lockdowns that are known to cause harm? You don’t call it sanity. These terrible policies only work with your cooperation. How about refusing to participate…”

Mandate discussions are gaining steam on online platforms and otherwise as institutions are gearing up to reintroduce the mask—part of the COVID restrictions brought about after the pandemic spread all over the world.

Who Best Avoided the COVID Religion?

Commentary – One of the greatest contributions that the United States gave to the world was and is religious freedom. In 2020, that freedom was taken away from all religions in the United States. We’ve not yet come to terms with this awful reality and what it means for the future of faith.

The lockdowns were a major blow to religious institutions and practice. Every major survey shows that attendance at weekly religious services is down from pre-lockdown times.

“The share of all U.S. adults who say they typically attend religious services at least once a month is down modestly but measurably (by 3 percentage points, from 33 percent to 30 percent) over that span,” Pew writes. “And one-in-five Americans say they now attend in person less often than they did before the pandemic.”

Oliver Anthony Slams Fox News for Playing His Song ‘Rich Men North of Richmond’ at GOP Debate, Calls It Ironic: “I Wrote That Song About Those People” (VIDEO)

Singer-songwriter Oliver Anthony took to social media to criticize Fox News for using his hit song “Rich Men North of Richmond” during the GOP debate last Wednesday, hilariously revealing that the song was originally written about the very individuals on the stage.

In her opening remarks for Wednesday night’s first Republican primary debate on Fox News, Martha MacCallum made the song the night’s first focal point of discussion.

Exclusive — Fake News Busted: Donald Trump Jr. Did Not Acquire Mar-a-Lago

Former President Donald Trump’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. did not acquire Mar-a-Lago in the weeks leading up to his father’s arrest in Fulton County, Georgia, Trump Jr. told Breitbart News exclusively.

“I woke up this morning to numerous media reports claiming that my dad transferred ownership of Mar-A-Lago to me, and while anyone would love to be gifted one of the most beautiful properties in the entire world, it is nothing more than total and complete fake news,” Trump Jr. told Breitbart News exclusively on Friday. “A lot of media outlets should be embarrassed with themselves for running such a phony story, but we all know that most of them won’t even retract their reports because they have no shame. SAD!”

The fake news claims spread online in the past couple days, after media outlets falsely claimed Zillow listings showed the property was sold. Outlets as far-ranging as the Daily Express and Newsweek among others pushed the inaccurate reports.

Giuliani to Seek Removal of Georgia Election Case to Federal Court

Attorney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said on Wednesday, after surrendering at the Fulton County jail and being released on bail, that he would seek to move his case to federal court in about a week.

“I will, within the next week or so, file a motion of removal,” he said on a 77 WABC radio show on his way back to New York from Georgia.

The conditions of his bond, which was negotiated at $150,000, prevent him from speaking to other defendants, but Mr. Giuliani said he expects former President Donald Trump to do the same and believes the case will be removed.
