VIDEO: 14 Killed In Mexican Town After Villagers Rise Up Against Cartel

Authorities in Mexico continue to investigate a brutal clash that killed 14 men and injured several others. The deaths occurred when a group of villagers took up arms against the ruling cartel in response to the raising of extortion fees collected from farmers.

The clash took place on Friday morning in the town of Texcaltitlan in Mexico State. The battle resulted in the killing of 14 individuals, including ten suspected cartel members, authorities said. According to information released by the Mexico State Attorney General’s Office, the clash took place between locals and a group of gunmen from the cartel known as La Familia Michoacana.

Ukrainian Gas Company Halved Hunter Biden’s Salary After Father Left White House in 2017, Indictment Reveals

After salary cut, Hunter Biden would continue to work with Burisma for two more years, leaving the company in April 2019.

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, saw his salary from a Ukrainian natural gas company cut in half after his father left office in 2017, new charging documents indicate.

The younger Biden was charged in California federal court on Thursday with two felony tax evasion charges, a felony charge for filing a false tax return, and six additional misdemeanor offenses for failure to pay taxes between 2016 and 2019.

A federal indictment in the case describes the president’s son’s sources of income for the period in which he was charged, including his work on the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings.

Arab Leaders Urge US to Demand Ceasefire in Israel-Hamas War

“What is ongoing is eroding the credibility of the international rules-based order,” said Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry.

A delegation of diplomats from Arab and Islamic nations is calling on the United States to demand a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Officials from Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia said the United States’ continued failure to condemn Israeli war crimes was causing many nations to doubt the legitimacy of the rules-based international order.

Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry said that many worried the United States was shirking its commitment to human rights in Gaza.

US Blocks UN ‘Article 99’ Ceasefire Resolution, Citing Security Council’s ‘Moral Failure’

The US deputy ambassador to the UN Security Council said the draft resolution was ‘disconnected’ from reality

The United States on Friday vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution advocating for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war and criticized the council’s failure to condemn the Oct. 7 terror attacks as a “serious moral failure.”

In remarks to the Security Council, U.S. Deputy Ambassador to the U.N. Robert Wood said the draft text was “disconnected” from reality.

“We still cannot comprehend why the resolution’s authors declined to include language condemning Hamas’ horrific terrorist attack on Israel on October 7,” Mr. Wood said.

UN climate attendees gorge on meat while calling to limit meat consumption

‘We are striving to show the world how climate-friendly food can be tasty, healthy and affordable’

Attendees at the UN’s COP28 climate summit in Dubai this week are being treated to a wide array of meat cuisine options even as many attendees — including the UN itself — urge governments to limit meat consumption for taxpayers.

COP28 is offering its 70,000 participants a selection of nearly 100 restaurants and food carts, at least a third of which specialize in beef and dairy dishes. Attendees can choose “juicy beef” and “slabs of succulent meat,” barbecued chicken and steak, hamburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, shawarma, carne asada, Tex Mex chicken, birria, kebabs, “melt-in-your-mouth BBQ,” smoked meats, and more.

“Our focus at COP28 UAE is on delivering environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, delicious, and nutritious food and beverage,” said the summit’s website. “This is a key priority for the Presidency, and we are striving to show the world how climate-friendly food can be tasty, healthy and affordable.”

“Working with Nutritics, we aim to ensure that 50% of the food served within sustainable limits for carbon and water intensity and is within UAE nutritional guidelines,” the site added.

Ireland’s Tragic Demise

Opinion by John Mac Ghlionn

The Ireland of today is very different to the Ireland of yesteryears. Irish eyes are not smiling, and for good reason. Today, my homeland is a horrific place to live: riots on the streets, vehicles ablaze, innocent children being stabbed, and women being raped and murdered.

Crime statistics released earlier this year by the Garda Síochána, Ireland’s national police force, paint a rather troubling picture. Since 2019, serious criminal offenses, including murder, rape, and sexual assaults, have skyrocketed. As the statistics show, in the space of four years, reports of rape have increased by 13 percent. Moreover, over the past 12 years, the number of sex crimes have increased by a whopping 75 percent. Last year, 44 cases of murder or manslaughter were recorded. In 2021, 25 cases were recorded. That’s a significant jump.

Report: 5,000 Illegal Migrants Are Released into the U.S. Daily, Biden Admin Privately Tells Congress

Biden administration officials have privately told lawmakers that an average of 5,000 illegal migrants are released into the U.S. each day, and more than 670,000 evaded Border Patrol in fiscal year 2023, Fox News reported Saturday.

Fox News exposed that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials told the Arizona congressional delegation, House and Senate Judiciary committees and the House and Senate Homeland Security committees that there were approximately 670,000 known “gotaways” at the border in FY2023.

Barbados Prime Minister Demands $4.9 Trillion in Slavery Reparations

Former slave-trading colonial powers should pay Barbados $4.9 trillion (£3.9 trillion) in reparations, the Caribbean country’s leftist prime minister demanded.

Speaking at the London School of Economics this week, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley redoubled her push for slavery reparations, saying that the movement demanding payment for historical wrongs had become a more pressing issue following the resurgence of Black Lives Matter and the killing of George Floyd in the United States in 2020.

The leftist Bajan leader, of the Barbados Labour Party, claimed that her country was owed a staggering $4.9 trillion in reparations for slavery from former colonial powers, but acknowledged that repayment of the supposed debt would “take time”.

“We’re not expecting that the reparatory damages will be paid in a year, or two, or five because the extraction of wealth and the damages took place over centuries. But we are demanding that we be seen and that we are heard,” Mottley said according to the left-wing Guardian newspaper.

Appeals Court Affirms, Narrows Trump Gag Order

‘He must stand trial in a courtroom under the same procedures that govern all other criminal defendants,’ a judge wrote for the panel.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia affirmed a gag order that U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan originally issued, prohibiting former President Donald Trump from making statements that target several groups of people involved in a case accusing him of interfering with the 2020 elections.

The 68-page opinion and order provided some additional specifics to Judge Chutkan’s original order, narrowing the gag order.

The former president is prohibited from “making or directing others to make public statements about known or reasonably foreseeable witnesses concerning their potential participation in the investigation or in this criminal proceeding.” Previously, the order prohibited President Trump from making any statements that would “target” any potential witness, or the content of their potential testimonies.

Trump Reverses Course, Won’t Testify in New York Trial Again

He announced the new move on social media on Dec. 10.

Former President Donald Trump said on Dec. 10 that he’ll no longer take the witness stand in the bench trial for a civil fraud case against him in New York.

“As everyone knows, I have very successfully and conclusively testified in the corrupt, Biden-directed New York State Attorney General’s rigged trial against me,” he wrote on the Truth Social platform. “World-renowned experts, highly respected bank and insurance executives, real estate professionals, as well as others, both honest and credible, have stated, clear and unequivocally, that I, and my very successful company, did nothing wrong!

“Financial statements were conservative, liquid, and ‘extraordinary.’ The only fraud committed was by the highly partisan and out-of-control judge and racist AG.”

Elon Musk Appeals SEC Case to US Supreme Court, Alleges Violation of Free Speech Rights

The industrialist asked the US Supreme Court to undo a part of a deal he made with the SEC, which he says violates his free speech rights.

Elon Musk asked the U.S. Supreme Court to undo a part of a deal he made with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that required vetting of his online posts, alleging that the deal violates his free speech rights, Mr. Musk’s lawyer, Ellyde Thompson, confirmed with The Epoch Times on Thursday.

The billionaire businessman asked the high court in a Dec. 7 petition to hear his appeal of a lower court’s decision in May that upheld a 2018 consent decree that he negotiated with the SEC, escalating a years-long feud between the industrialist and the powerful regulatory agency to the nation’s highest court.

The consent decree resulted from settlement negotiations of a 2018 lawsuit brought by the federal agency against Mr. Musk, which alleged that Mr. Musk made “false and misleading” statements to investors when he posted on Twitter (now X) in August of that year that he had “funding secured” to take private his electric car company, Tesla.

Hunter Biden Says Critics ‘Trying to Kill Me’ to Undermine Father’s Presidency

Hunter Biden says he believes his father’s political opponents are trying to “kill” him to inflict enough emotional pain on his father to destroy his presidency

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden says he believes his father’s political opponents are trying to “kill” him to inflict enough emotional pain on his father to destroy his presidency.

The president’s son joined a podcast hosted by musician Richard Melville Hall—who goes by moniker “Moby”—and discussed his struggles with drug addiction, and being in the public spotlight as the president’s son. The podcast episode comes as the younger Biden faces multiple federal criminal charges and was published on Friday, just hours after special counsel Robert Weiss filed new criminal charges for tax evasion.

Throughout the podcast, the president’s son said he believes the criticisms he’s faced are meant to distract his father from the tasks of the presidency and make President Biden “think that he could lose his son that he just had regained from an almost death through addiction.”

Judge Bans Separating Illegal Immigrant Families at US Southern Border for 8 Years

The judge said the separation of families ‘represents one of the most shameful chapters in the history of our country.’

A federal judge on Friday ruled to ban the separation of families at the U.S. southwest border for the next eight years, except in certain cases, approving the settlement of a years-long Trump-era lawsuit.

The decision comes as part of the settlement of a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in 2018, addressing the separation of families entering the country illegally as family units at the U.S.-Mexico border.

U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw approved the settlement, saying that the separation of thousands of families “represents one of the most shameful chapters in the history of our country.”

Biden’s TSA Designates Special Airport Screening Line for Migrants Without Required ID

Migrants recently released by the Border Patrol waited patiently to board flights leaving the region at the Tucson International Airport on Friday afternoon. The event marks their last day on the southwest border and their first day of free movement across the United States.

Despite the firm requirements for United States citizens and legally admitted international travelers to possess valid forms of identification to board aircraft, the migrants were shuffled through a “special” security screening line set up by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), specifically for migrants — many without any identification whatsoever.

BREAKING: Sheila Jackson Lee Loses Race for Houston Mayor. It Wasn’t Even Close and Reactions Are Great

We have good and bad news to report.

First, the good news for the people of Houston, Texas.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) was running to become mayor of Houston. But she found herself in a difficult race with the powerful state Sen. John Whitmire, also a Democrat. She got the endorsement of Hillary Clinton, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

But even with those heavy hitters coming out for her, she still lost. Badly.

Houston held the run-off election on Saturday, and Whitmire just completely trounced Jackson Lee by almost 30 points.

5 NY Democrat Politicians Urge State Elections Board to Bar Trump From 2024 Ballot

State senators Brad Hoylman-Sigal (D-Manhattan) and Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan) are among the five New York Democrat politicians who want the bi-partisan New York State Board of Elections (NYSBOE) to exclude former President Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential primary and general election ballot.

Ms. Krueger, Mr. Hoylman-Sigal, and three other state senators signed a Dec. 7 letter addressed to NYSBOE co-chairs Peter S. Kosinski and Douglas A. Kellner requesting they comply with their oath to support the U.S. Constitution.

“The January 6 insurrection was a violent uprising against the United States that tragically resulted in loss of multiple lives,” the letter states. “That dark day in our nation’s history was led, facilitated, and encouraged by Trump. The Board must not allow those who participated to run again for office against the mandate of the Constitution.”

‘Pissgate’: Vivek Ramaswamy Has Embarassing Bathroom Hot Mic During X Spaces Call

Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy had an embarrassing hot mic moment during an X Spaces broadcast in front of over 100,000 users when it sounded as if he had been relieving himself in the bathroom after forgetting to hit the mute button on his phone.

Deemed “pissgate” by the internet, the moment occurred as X owner Elon Musk explained his decision to allow famed conspiracy theorist Alex Jones back onto the platform after a lengthy ban. It was then that Vivek Ramaswamy uttered these prophetic words, “Gentlemen, I have to go.” And by “go,” he meant go…

As the conversation persisted, what sounded like someone urinating could be heard, though it is possible the sound could have been from hand-washing, considering no flush could be heard.

“Somebody’s got their phone in the bathroom,” Alex Jones said.

“That’s your phone, Vivek, I’m not able to mute you,” host Mario Nawfal responded.

New York Democrats Nominate Former Rep. Tom Suozzi to Fill Santos’ Seat

Mr. Suozzi, a moderate, served in the House from 2017 to 2023.

Democrat officials in New York’s 3rd Congressional District have put up former Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.) to succeed former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.).

The announcement, first reported by Jewish Insider, was made on Dec. 7.

Instead of a primary, the local Republican and Democrat parties will pick a nominee to face off to serve the remainder of Mr. Santos’ term. The race is expected to be competitive as the district leans Democrat, according to the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.

New Mexico Files Lawsuit Against Meta Claiming Facebook, Instagram Steer Child Predators to Kids

Facebook and Instagram are steering children toward explicit content — even in cases when no interest is expressed — and allowing child predators to find and contact minors, New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez said in a announcement this week revealing a lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta.

“Our investigation into Meta’s social media platforms demonstrates that they are not safe spaces for children but rather prime locations for predators to trade child pornography and solicit minors for sex,” AG Torrez said, announcing the lawsuit.

He’s Back! Tucker Carlson Announces Launch of New Streaming Service

You all probably remember the day Tucker Carlson was unceremoniously yanked off the Fox News airwaves in April. He’s been posting interviews and monologues to social media platform X in the months since, but it just wasn’t quite the same as watching him host the highest-rated cable news program in the nation.

The firing came in the wake of a massive $787.5 million settlement Fox made with Dominion Voting Systems after they sued the network for defamation for questioning the integrity of their machines. Various other theories have also been floated about the exact reason for his termination.

But now he’s taking his next step: a new streaming service set to debut Monday. He announced the move on Twitter/X:

The announcement was short but to the point, and delivered with his usual enthusiasm and humor:

Hey, it’s Tucker Carlson!
We’ve been out of work for seven or eight months now, hard to know. Time flies when you’re unemployed, but actually, we have been working in secret and producing an awful lot of material for months now. Interviews, et cetera, and all of it has now found its way to TuckerCarlson.com.
We’re launching a brand new thing very soon and we’d love for you to see it. So go to TuckerCarlson.com to see it first.

The service will be known as “Tucker Carlson Network” and will host a variety of content, according to insiders:

It will be home to at least five different shows by midweek, they said, including interviews, short-form videos and monologues.

Tucker Carlson Network, whose logo resembles a red pill, will cost $9 a month—or $72 a year—and will initially be solely available through Carlson’s website, they said. Some of the content will be available without a subscription and will be ad-supported, while some interviews and monologues will be available exclusively to subscribers, who will have access to that content without ads.

Trump Warns of Exodus of Businesses From New York if He Loses Fraud Case

Former President Donald Trump said that if he loses the fraud case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, businesses will flee New York in droves.

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that if he loses the fraud case brought against him by New York Attorney General Letitia James, it will have a deeply chilling effect on businesses in the Big Apple.

“Businesses are watching this case,” President Trump told reporters outside a Manhattan courtroom on Dec. 6. “No business will go back into New York, no business will frankly stay in New York, some businesses are talking about leaving New York because of this action, this very serious action.”

The case centers on allegations that the former president and his company, The Trump Organization, defrauded banks, insurers, and others by allegedly overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth in documents used in deals and to secure loans.

Americans Are Getting 2 SSI Payments in December 2023. Here’s Why

Americans who receive the payments will receive two payments this month.

Americans who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments will receive two payments this month.

The second SSI payment will go out on Dec. 29, about four weeks after the first one was sent on Dec. 1, according to the Social Security Administration’s schedule.

The reason why two payments are sent is due to scheduling that happens several times a year, and it’s because the first day of the next month occurs on a holiday, which in this case is New Year’s Day. According to the schedule, there were several other months with double SSI or Social Security payments because the first of the month fell on a holiday or a weekend.

IRS Expansion Led to 53 Percent Increase in Prosecutions: ReportAdditional staffing and a post-pandemic focus on tax fraud have led to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and its U.S. Sentencing Commission (USSC) prosecuting 53 percent more tax offenders in the past two years, according to a December report from Scholaroo. According to its research, in a state-by-state breakdown, those attempting fraud against the IRS in the states of Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wyoming had the greatest chance of getting caught.

But according to Scholaroo’s research, to be in the IRS crosshairs, you must make some serious money. “The IRS suggests that approximately 75 percent of tax fraud is committed mainly by individuals in the middle-income range,” the Scholaroo data team shared in a written statement to The Epoch Times. “However, the highest incidence of evasion is observed among the wealthiest 5 percent, with an income of at least $200,000. In this elite group, taxpayers hide more than 20 percent of their income from the tax authorities.”

IRS Raises 2024 Employee FSA Contribution Limit to $3,200

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) raised the contribution limit to a key employee health care account while also increasing the amount of money that can be carried over to the next year.

Flexible Spending Arrangement (FSA) is a type of savings account that employees can use to pay for medical expenses. The contributions come from the wages of employees. “For 2024, there is a $150 increase to the contribution limit for these accounts,” the IRS said in a Dec. 8 press release. “An employee who chooses to participate in an FSA can contribute up to $3,200 through payroll deductions during the 2024 plan year. Amounts contributed are not subject to federal income tax, Social Security tax, or Medicare tax.” For 2023, the contribution limit was $3,050.

For couples, they can jointly contribute up to $6,400 for their household. If the plan allows it, the employer can also contribute towards the employee’s FSA.

Illinois Property Taxes Make Biggest Jump in 30 Years Thanks to New Backdoor Tax Hike

The state of Illinois has some of the highest property taxes in the country and this year that number climbed, with some homeowners seeing a near 30-percent rise year over year in their tax burden.

Last year, Illinois had the second highest rate of property taxes in the country — topped only by New Jersey — with an annual average burden of $4,942 per home. But with the changes made this year, it seems likely that Illinois may claim the top spot for the worst property taxes anywhere.

HEALTH

8,000 IU of Vitamin D a day (on average) … way more than what we’re taking in now!

Why Official Vitamin D Intake Recommendations Are Grossly Inadequate

Three November 2023 studies demonstrate that the current governmental dosing recommendations for vitamin D are woefully inadequate, and you need an individualized approach to boost your vitamin D to optimal levels

Two of the studies were presented before the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2023 in Philadelphia. The third, from Germany, revealed that personalized guidelines were more effective than a one-size-fits-all approach in athletes

Vitamin D deficiency in athletes is associated with a reduction in endurance parameters, core muscle injuries, muscle strains, bone injuries and stress fractures. Less-than-optimal levels are also associated with uterine fibroids, higher mortality from cancer, respiratory disease, heart disease, all-cause mortality and a higher risk of dementia

Choline in Eggs Reduces Inflammation

Dr. Mercola Opinion – I believe egg yolks are one of the two most nutrient-dense foods in existence, which is why I eat six of them a day – with only one of the whites.

Choline is a crucial nutrient for healthy fetal development and the function of your brain, nervous system, mitochondria and cardiovascular system. It also plays a role in metabolism and DNA synthesis

According to recent research, eggs, which are rich in choline, have anti-inflammatory activity and can be particularly useful in those with insulin resistance and/or metabolic syndrome

A small amount of choline is produced by your liver. The rest must be supplied through your diet. The recommended adequate intake for choline is about 550 milligrams a day, but many get nowhere near this amount. Some estimates suggest 90% of the U.S. population is deficient in choline

Studies have linked higher choline intake to a range of benefits, including a decreased risk for heart disease, a 24% decreased risk for breast cancer, and the prevention of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

NAFLD is the most common form of liver disease in the U.S., and prevalence has skyrocketed among children in recent years. Choline deficiency may be driving factor in this trend because if you don’t have enough choline, any dietary fat, and any food the liver can turn into fat, such as refined sugar and ethanol (alcohol), will promote the accumulation of liver fat

Biden Wants to Seize Patents of Pricey Drugs and Use Government to Make Them Cheaper

The Biden administration has proposed a new rule that would allow federal authorities to seize the patents of costly drugs that were developed using taxpayer dollars and to let third parties use those patents to make the drugs available more cheaply.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, on Dec. 7 published a set of draft guidelines for government agencies to evaluate when it might be appropriate to invoke what are known as “march-in” rights under the legal framework of the Bayh-Dole Act.

The Bayh-Dole Act, which is shorthand for the University and Small Business Patent Procedures Act of 1980, grants the government the authority to suspend the patents of products of inventions that were developed with federal funding if those products or inventions are not made available to the public.

Why Your Doctor Doesn’t Talk About Your Microbiome

Practices, procedures, and guidelines may be stifling treatment at your doctor’s office. Public awareness and demand could speed up care.

Manipulating the gut microbiome—usually by increasing various strains of bacteria and fungi—can be a powerful tool for healing painful, life-altering symptoms in the gastrointestinal tract.

Evidence that this can work is growing. But it’s as if medical doctors are examining the issue through a fogged mirror. In part, that’s because they rely on guidelines developed by professional associations to direct their care. Without those guidelines, they’d be stuck.

The American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) explained that their guidelines can take up to two years to develop for any specific condition. That is, one disease is matched with specific sets of symptoms treated with proven interventions under certain circumstances. When the highly technical guidelines are released, they spell out the sequence of diagnostic and treatment approaches for each phase of the disease the patient is in, which takes previous treatments into account. Clinicians follow the guidelines like a flow chart.

I guess this woman is going to have to go to California to have her abortion … unless Texas wants to pay for taking care of her severely afflicted baby!  This is what happens when politics gets in the way of healthcare!  Then again, maybe health care can’t be trusted with the correct diagnosis … they didn’t get “the jab” right, did they?

Texas Supreme Court Halts Pro-Abortion Order by Lower Court

The Texas Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a pregnant woman from getting an emergency abortion, a lower court decision in a lawsuit by a pregnant woman seeking a court-authorized abortion, with the move blocking her ability to terminate the pregnancy.

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday temporarily halted a lower court’s decision that granted a pregnant woman the ability to get an emergency court-authorized abortion despite the state’s strict rules against getting one.

The high court’s Dec. 9 decision came after a district court a day earlier granted a request for an emergency abortion in a lawsuit brought by Kate Cox, a woman who is 20 weeks pregnant and whose unborn baby was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a condition that causes multiple structural abnormalities that doctors said gave it no chance of survival after birth.

‘Perfectly Healthy’ 15-Month-Old Girl Dies Two Days After Routine Vaccination

Melody Rain Palombi-Malmgren died at age 15 months from cardiac arrest and organ failure, just two days after receiving the varicella, DTaP and Hib vaccines. Her mother is already working to help other families avoid the same fate.

A 15-month-old girl from Greenwood Lake, New York, died two days after receiving routine vaccinations during a wellness checkup, leaving her family searching for answers.

Melody Rain Palombi-Malmgren went into cardiac arrest and died on Oct. 19, after receiving three vaccines — for varicella, DTaP and Hib — at her 15-month wellness visit on Oct. 17 with the Herbert Kania Pediatric Group in Warwick, New York, according to News12 the Bronx.

“She was a perfectly healthy child,” her mother, Katherine Palombi, told News12. “I’m in complete shock.”

Palombi told News12 that Melody had waved goodbye to her that morning as she dropped her off at her grandmother’s before leaving for work. As soon as she got to work, Palombi’s mother called, saying Melody was having trouble breathing.

“I was in complete shock. Like, what just happened?” Palombi recalled. “Is she choking on something? Did she get into something? That was my first thought because I’m like, this child is perfectly healthy,” Palombi said.

Melody was rushed to St. Anthony’s Hospital by ambulance after her grandmother performed CPR while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

Palombi rushed home, where she found a police officer waiting. He offered to rush her to the hospital “because he knew how serious it was,” she recalled.

“By the time I got to the hospital, they put me in a room,” Palombi said, “and they just kept saying, ‘We’re working on her.’”

“They were going over everything from that morning because she’d gotten into something,” she said, and “I just kept saying, ‘She had vaccines. A couple of days before this, she had vaccines.’”

Despite several hours of resuscitation efforts by EMTs and medical staff, Melody could not be revived.

“They brought me in the room, and I saw her lying there,” Palombi said. “They said, ‘Time of death: 11:13.’ And I just completely hit the floor.”

Hospital records show Melody suffered liver and kidney failure along with cardiac arrest. The cause of her sudden death remains under investigation pending an autopsy.

Long-Term ADHD Medication Use May Increase Heart Disease Risk: Study

The longer an individual used ADHD medication, the higher their risk was of developing cardiovascular disease.

A new study indicates that long-term use of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medication may increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and that the risk increases the longer the drug is used.

The results of the study conducted in Sweden were published in JAMA Psychiatry, bringing to light the potential risks of long-term ADHD medication.

About 6 million, or 1 in 10, children ages 3 to 17 have been diagnosed with ADHD, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Approximately 8.7 million adults in the United States also have ADHD. Individuals with ADHD may have difficulty paying attention, find it hard to sit still, or act without thinking; the symptoms and specifics vary from person to person.

Lab-grown meat is cleared for sale in the United StatesWed June 21, 2023

Cultivated meat, also known as lab-grown meat, has been cleared for sale in the United States.

Upside Foods and Good Meat, two companies that make what they call “cultivated chicken,” said Wednesday that they have gotten approval from the US Department of Agriculture to start producing their cell-based proteins.

Good Meat, which is owned by plant-based egg substitute maker Eat Just, said that production is starting immediately. Cultivated or lab-grown meat is grown in a giant vat, much like what you’d find at a beer brewery.

Elon Musk says X will reinstate Alex Jones’s account after poll of users

The social media platform X will reinstate the account of the US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones after a poll of the site’s users backed his return, its owner, Elon Musk, has said.

“The people have spoken and so it shall be,” Musk posted in reply to a poll on Saturday on whether to reinstate the Jones account. Close to 2m votes were cast by the time the poll closed, with about 70% voting in favour of Jones’s return.

Reuters could not immediately verify whether the account was restored early on Sunday.

Since Musk’s takeover of X, it has reinstated previously suspended accounts, including that of the former US president Donald Trump.

The platform formerly known as Twitter banned Jones and his website Infowars in 2018, saying that the accounts had violated its behaviour policies.

Tesla Whistleblower: Elon Musk’s ‘Autopilot’ System Isn’t Safe Due to Hardware and Software Problems

A former Tesla employee has come forward, voicing serious concerns about the safety and readiness of Tesla’s ‘Autopilot’ system for public road use. According to the whistleblower, “I don’t think the hardware is ready and the software is ready.”

BBC News reports that Lukasz Krupski, a former Tesla employee in Norway, has recently expressed skepticism regarding the safety of Tesla’s ‘Autopilot’ system. In an interview with the BBC, Krupski raised concerns about both the software and hardware aspects of Tesla’s driver assistance technology. He leaked around 100 gigabytes of data, including customer complaints about Tesla’s phantom braking and the Full Self-Driving package, to the German business newspaper Handelsblatt.

Couple returns home to find armed intruder inside. But homeowner also has a gun — and exercises deadly force with it.

A couple returned to their Texas home Wednesday to find an armed intruder inside — but the homeowner also had a gun and fatally shot the intruder.

What are the details?

Sgt. Jason Brown with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office told KRPC-TV deputies responded to a shooting that occurred around 5 p.m. in the 19200 block of Westfield Place in north Harris County.

The man who was shot was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the station said.

ACLU Will Represent NRA In Free Speech Case Before Supreme Court

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has found an unlikely ally in of the left-leaning American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which will represent the gun rights advocacy group at the U.S. Supreme Court in a case that centers of the constitutional right of free speech.

The NRA in 2018 brought a lawsuit against Maria Vullo, former superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services (DFS), alleging that she violated the First Amendment by pressuring regulated financial institutions like banks and insurers to stop doing business with the gun rights group.

The case made its way through the courts, eventually landing before the Supreme Court, which in November agreed to take it up.

CDC Reveals New ‘Fastest-Growing’ COVID-19 Variant in US

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicated that the JN.1 COVID-19 subvariant is increasingly across the United States, comprising potentially a third of all cases.

The variant comprised about 0.1 percent of all COVID-19 cases in the United States as of late October, according to the federal health agency in a Dec. 8 update. But as of Dec. 8, it now makes up about 15 to 29 percent of cases, it said.

“CDC projects that JN.1 will continue to increase as a proportion of SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences,” the CDC said. “It is currently the fastest-growing variant in the United States.”

Pfizer mRNA jab leaves 1 in 3 recipients with ‘unintended immune response’: Cambridge study

A peer-reviewed University of Cambridge study published Wednesday in the scientific journal Nature has revealed the Nobel Prize-winning technique that paved the way for synthetic messenger ribonucleic acid vaccines is far from flawless.

To trick the body into allowing cellular interventions by synthetic mRNA-based therapeutics, scientists discovered they first had to make chemical modifications to the building blocks of the mRNA. Researchers indicated this week that encounters with repeat base modifications often lead to cellular miscommunications, which ultimately trigger immune flare-ups in vaccine recipients.

Since the mRNA technology rushed to market during the pandemic is now being used to treat various cancers and diseases, the researchers stressed the urgency of addressing this issue.

Anne Willis, a co-author of the study and biochemist from the University of Cambridge’s Medical Research Council Toxicology Unit, said it is “essential that [mRNA] therapeutics are designed to be free from unintended side effects.”

Major Donor Cuts $100 Million Donation for University of Pennsylvania After President’s Testimony

A major donor just announced they cut off a $100 million donation for the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) following UPenn President Liz Magill’s testimony on campus antisemitism that received wide backlash.

In a letter to UPenn’s Senior Vice President Wendy White on Dec. 7, Ross Stevens, founder and CEO of Stone Ridge Asset Management, said via his lawyers that his company would “retire” his donation units worth about $100 million from the university. The donation was supposed to fund the Stevens Center for Innovation in Finance at UPenn.

“Mr. Stevens and Stone Ridge are appalled by the University’s stance on anti-Semitism on campus,” the letter said. “Its permissive approach to hate speech calling for violence against Jews and laissez-faire attitude toward harassment and discrimination against Jewish students would violate any policies or rules that prohibit harassment and discrimination based on religion, including those of Stone Ridge.”

How often you should take your dog to the vet

As a dog parent, you know that regular visits to the veterinarian are essential to ensuring your pet’s health and happiness. But how often should you take your dog to the vet, and what can you expect when you’re there?

When it comes to veterinary visits, the right frequency depends on age, health, and lifestyle. Generally speaking, annual checkups are recommended for most adult dogs, while more frequent visits may be necessary for seniors or dogs with medical conditions.

Here’s how to plan and what to expect at your pet’s visit to a vet’s office.

How Often Should I Take My Puppy to the Vet?

The youngest of puppies need to visit the vet every 3–4 weeks — up to the age of 16 weeks — to receive core vaccines for conditions like rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus.

They’ll also need to be dewormed every couple of weeks between 2 and 8 weeks old; this will likely take place before you’ve taken your furry friend home.

These vaccination visits will stop at around the 16–20 week mark, but you’ll need to take them to the vet again at the age of 6 months. At this visit, your vet will make sure your dog is growing properly and examine their teeth, eyes, ears, and paws. Your vet can help you decide when the best time is to have your pup neutered (spay for females, castration for males). This can depend on their lifestyle, size or breed, temperament, and other factors.

How Often Should I Take My Adult Dog to the Vet?

A generally healthy adult dog should visit the vet once a year.

“During [an annual] visit, the vet will perform a comprehensive physical examination to ensure your dog is healthy,” explains veterinarian Dr. Kirsten Ronngren. “This will include steps like listening to the heart and lungs, palpating the abdomen, feeling lymph nodes, assessing overall body condition, and examining the oral cavity for things like dental disease, among other things.”

How Often Should I Take My Senior Dog or Dog with Chronic Conditions to the Vet?

For senior dogs or dogs with pre-existing medical conditions, more frequent vet visits may be necessary. Twice a year is a good rule of thumb. However, your veterinarian may suggest a more frequent schedule depending on your dog’s specific needs.

12-Year-Old Alabama Boy Turns Clay Spinning Into Pottery Business Selling Bowls From Home

What is the sound of success?

It resounds with a “ding” or makes a ringing sound when you tap it.

That’s what 12-year-old William Knox hears resonating from his hand-spun, kiln-fired, clay bowls which he recently made into his own upstart pottery enterprise.

William may still be in elementary school in his hometown of Mountain Brook, Alabama, and although he loves to play sports every fall, winter, and spring season, none of that stopped him from becoming a pre-teen entrepreneur.

It all started when William squished his bare feet into some real, cold, slimy clay in the creek behind his home. Pretty soon, he was making pinch pots and then on to spinning bowls on a pottery wheel, using clay from an art store in Birmingham.
