Today’s News: June 13, 2023

Today’s Top 5:

1. WH Brings Back Face Masks, Social Distancing for the Unvaccinated

If you thought Democrats were done pushing the Covid hysteria, think again.

Despite announcing an end to the authoritarian Covid-19 government mandates, the Biden White House requires guests to practice social distancing and wear masks during their visit.

The mandates, however, will only target those who are unvaccinated.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will welcome the NCAA men’s and women’s national championship teams to “College Athlete Day” at the White House on Monday.

In an email from the White House Office of Legislative Affairs addressed to members of Congress, Covid protocols were listed, notifying lawmakers that they would need to show a negative Covid test before being allowed to attend the event. If unvaccinated, the attendees must wear a mask and social distance.

“Masking guidance: Fully vaccinated guests are not required to wear a mask on the White House grounds. Guests who are not fully vaccinated must wear a mask at all times and maintain at least six feet distance from others while on the White House grounds,” the email states.

2. First Thing: Donald Trump to be arraigned over classified documents

The former president, who faces 37 criminal counts related to his handling of classified documents after leaving the presidency, is to make his first court appearance in the case in Miami

a). Proof It Was a Setup? Trump Was 1st POTUS in 40 Years Who Feds Didn’t Help Archive Classified Docs, Attorneys Say

Was the president set up by the federal government?

That is a possible defense that floated into a letter to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in April by Trump’s attorneys, in which they allege the National Archives and Records Administration “has become overtly political and declined to provide archival assistance to President Trump’s transition team” — the first such incidence of this to happen in 40 years.

3. Jonathan Turley: Trump Could Face ‘Terminal Sentence’ If DOJ Proves 1 Count

George Washington University professor and Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley said that if the federal government proves just one count against former President Donald Trump, it could be a “terminal sentence” for him.

“The problem is, he’s got to run the table—he’s 76 years old,” Turley told Fox News over the weekend. “All the government has to do is stick the landing on one count, and he could have a terminal sentence. You’re talking about crimes that have a 10- or 20-year period as a maximum.”

4. Ron Johnson: FBI, DOJ Interfering in 2024 Presidential Election as They Had in 2016, 2020

During an appearance on this week’s broadcast of FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) called the Justice Department’s prosecution of former President Donald Trump interference in the 2024 presidential election.

The Wisconsin Republican noted the trend of the DoJ’s involvement in the past two presidential elections, adding this was a continuation of 2016 and 2020.

“Well, when you consider the exoneration of Hillary Clinton, when you consider the fraudulent and corrupt investigation on Russian collusion, which was a complete lie, and the FBI knew it was, you put all these things together, the FBI, Department of Justice interfered in the 2016 election, in the 2020 election,” he said. “And here we go again. They’re going to be interfering in the 2024 election. They already have. What a mess. Obviously, President Trump’s going to have an ability to defend himself. But will he be able to defend himself quickly? Or is this going to drag on and on and on?”

5. Poll: Americans Don’t Want a Central Bank Digital Currency

A poll from the Cato Institute indicates that, while about half of Americans do not have an opinion regarding whether the Federal Reserve should “begin offering a government-issued digital currency, called a ‘central bank digital currency’ (CBDC),” among those with an opinion on the matter over twice as many — 34 percent of poll participants — oppose the prospect as support it — 16 percent.

This result of the poll conducted from February 27 through March 8 in collaboration with YouGov is promising for Americans concerned about the threat a CBDC, which the Federal Reserve and big financial companies have been testing in preparation for its potential introduction, poses to freedom and privacy in America.

Great Reset: Dutch Government To Buy Farms As Thousands Face Shut Down

The Dutch government launched its long-anticipated Great Reset-style farmer buyout scheme on Monday, which could potentially see upwards of ten thousand farms shut down forever to fall in line with the green agenda of the European Union.

Following years of political wrangling, the government of The Netherlands has launched its programme for buying out farms that do not comply with the EU’s Natura 2000 scheme supposedly meant to protect environmentally sensitive areas. The buyout programme will initially impact approximately 3,000 privately-owned farms which are deemed to emit too much nitrogen.

Starting next month, farmers will be able to apply for a buyout, which will be set at 120 per cent of the farm’s value. In addition to the top nitrogen emitters, the government will also offer buyouts for dairy, pig and poultry farmers to shut down in exchange for a payout of 100 per cent of their farm’s value. It is expected that some 8,000 farmers will be eligible for the second scheme, Dutch public broadcaster NOS reports.

Biden Administration Confirms Chinese Spy Base in Cuba, Shifts Blame to Trump

The White House stated on June 12 that the existence of a Chinese spy base in Cuba is not a recent development and dates to the time when President Donald Trump was in office.

During a press briefing at the White House, John Kirby, spokesman for the National Security Council, confirmed that the Biden administration is aware of China’s intelligence collecting capabilities in Cuba and is taking them seriously.

“We’re not going to be able to get into too much detail about our own counterintelligence efforts,” Kirby said. “As we’ve communicated over the weekend, this is not a new development that China’s been trying to achieve some intelligence gathering capabilities in Cuba and, frankly, elsewhere in the hemisphere, and that from day one, when we came in, we took this issue seriously.”

The remarks came after several media outlets reported that Beijing has been operating a spy base in Cuba since 2019.

China Calls Cuba Spy Base Report ‘Crappy’ Gossip After Biden Administration Tries to Blame Trump

The Global Times, a Chinese government propaganda newspaper, dismissed a Wall Street Journal report accusing Beijing of setting up a “spy base” in Cuba as an attempt to sabotage a rumored visit by Secretary of State Antony Blinken to China this month.

The state newspaper, which serves as a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party, mocked the report as an “old-fashioned and crappy … script” fabricated by anti-Chinese actors within the U.S. government and a repeat of outrage surrounding the invasion of American airspace by a Chinese vessel in January later identified as a “spy balloon.” The administration of President Joe Biden allowed the balloon to cross the continental United States, reportedly collecting intelligence over sensitive military sites, before shooting it down in Atlantic waters.

Grassley: Burisma Executive Who Allegedly Paid Bidens Has Audio Recordings

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Monday announced on the Senate floor that the Burisma executive who allegedly paid President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden kept 17 audio recordings of his conversations of them as an “insurance policy.”

Grassley said an FBI document, known as an FD-1023, that was shown to the House Oversight Committee last Thursday — but that he has also seen — has a redacted reference to the executive possessing 15 audio recordings of phone calls between himself and Hunter Biden and two audio recordings of phone calls between himself and then-Vice President Joe Biden.

Abortion Ohio ballot measure

One of the next big battles in the abortion rights fight is set to take place in Ohio later this summer, when voters will consider a ballot measure that could make it harder for the state to enshrine protections for the medical procedure.

Ohioans are set to vote Aug. 8 on a proposal that, if passed, would require at least 60 percent of voters to pass any amendment to the state’s constitution — up from the current threshold of 50 percent.

Louisiana Sovereignty Resolution Should Be Model for Entire Nation as DC Government Becomes Increasingly Lawless

Few things concern American citizens more than the steady encroachment of the federal government on our constitutionally protected liberty. WB Yeats’ words aptly describe the way millions of Americans feel about their own government: “The falcon cannot hear the falconer; things fall apart; the center cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world.” The federal government seems to have no mechanism of self-restraint.  We feel suffocated by its excesses.

It is appropriate in this context to celebrate the passage of SCR 21, Senator Stewart Cathey’s Joint Concurrent Resolution. SCR 21, passed in both chambers this yesterday, affirms Louisiana’s sovereign constitutional right “to nullify unconstitutional acts of the federal government.” The Resolution rests on the foundational writings of the men who ratified the Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the guarantees made to the 13 free and independent States who formed our Constitution, and US Supreme Court precedent going back two centuries.

EXCLUSIVE: Report Alleges Catholic Hospitals Linked to Transgender Surgeries, Abortions

The largest Catholic health system in the nation has allegedly funded and performed transgender surgeries and other “gender-affirming” medical interventions, defying traditional Catholic teachings, according to an investigative report released to The Epoch Times.

The report by the Lepanto Institute, a Catholic research and education organization, released on June 12, exposes CommonSpirit Health, a Catholic entity, for its alleged performance and funding of transgender surgeries and therapies,” including prescribing and providing cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to patients.

A promotional video accompanying the report asserts: “The transgender craze has seized the world by the throat and is choking the life out of the bedrock of civilization: the family. And this is happening right under the nose of the Vatican.”

Poll: 69 Percent of Americans Oppose Men Competing in Women’s Sports

A majority of Americans reject the radical notion that men should be allowed to play on women’s sports teams just because they “identify” as women.

A new Gallup News poll found that opposition to transgender athletes playing on teams that match their “gender identity” is rising, up to 69 percent in 2023 from 62 percent in 2021. At the same time, fewer Americans believe transgender athletes should be allowed to deviate from biological reality to play on teams in accordance with their “gender identity,” at 26 percent down from 34 percent in 2021.

Trump Is ‘Stronger Today Politically’ After DOJ Indictment: Graham

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said the recent indictment of Donald Trump over his alleged mishandling of classified documents is a boon for the former president.

“I know you don’t get what I’m saying, but people on my side believe it, and I think Donald Trump is stronger today politically than he was before,” Graham told ABC’s “This Week” on June 11.

Federal Judge Hears Challenges to Oregon’s New Gun Laws

A trial held in Portland last week aims to determine whether Oregon’s voter-approved gun-control measure is constitutional in light of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last summer.

Should Ballot Measure 14 survive this legal test, the state would have among the strictest gun laws in the nation.

The measure at issue would ban the manufacture and sale of magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds and require anyone who wishes to obtain a firearm to get a permit first. Permits will require taking a safety course, demonstrating competency with a firearm, paying fees, and completing a federal background check.

WEF demands 75% global reduction of cars by 2050

The World Economic Forum (WEF) Great Reset agenda was on full blast recently after the organization published a blueprint to drastically cut the number of personal vehicles globally from 1.45 billion to 500 million by the year 2050.

WEF demands 75% global reduction of cars by 2050

If achieved, the massive cut to car ownership would be a 75% reduction in the total number of cars in the entire world.

Why do we need personal vehicles if we’re all confined to our WEF-mandated 15-minute cities anyways, right?

National Geographic Says Climate Change Is ‘Greatest Threat to Human Health.’ It Also Flies Billionaires Around the World on Its Private Jet.

National Geographic says climate change is “the greatest threat to human health,” but it’s not so grave that it prevents them from jetting the elite to what the magazine describes as some of the world’s “far-flung destinations” on a massive private jet.

National Geographic raises funds by flying deep-pocketed travelers around the world on its “specially outfitted” Boeing 757 jet, which features “comfortable VIP-style leather seating,” “plush, sleek interior design,” a private chef, and a “dedicated luggage handler.” The trips, most of which cost roughly $100,000, allow millionaires and billionaires to “fly in exceptional comfort” as they visit “far-flung destinations” and encounter “legendary wildlife”—including the same coral reefs National Geographic says in its pages are dying.

Travelers on one of the 24-day “expeditions” fly nearly 30,000 miles. Planes, on average, produce 53.3 pounds of carbon dioxide per air mile, meaning the trip’s flights would emit more than 1.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide. The average American’s yearly carbon footprint is just 32,000 pounds, meaning the flights in just 24 days generate a carbon footprint equivalent to that of nearly 47 Americans in an entire year.

One of the trips, a $108,000 “Wildlife of the World by Private Jet” tour, takes wealthy attendees to see elephants in Malaysia, mountain gorillas in Rwanda, Bengal tigers in India, and “dazzling marine life” from an “overwater bungalow in the Maldives” before wrapping up in Rome.

National Geographic often laments the “climate change crisis,” which, it says, is causing melting icebergs, coral reef extinction, deadly floods, forest fires, and a rise in mosquito-borne diseases. The media giant argued in September that climate change is “the greatest threat to human health in recorded history.” National Geographic even identifies transportation as one of the largest sources of carbon emissions—which it says are warming the earth “as a byproduct of human activities”—and tells readers they should measure their carbon footprint and spend time “thinking about” how much they fly.

How to Support Long-Term Fertility of Your Soil

Austin Liu, principal biochar investigator at the Local Carbon Network, delved into how water-soluble nutrients are retained and exchanged in soil — and why this is so important for the health of your soil

High cation exchange capacity, or CEC, and anion exchange capacity, or AEC, are metrics of fertile soil

When co-composted biochar is added to soil, it significantly improves CEC and AEC; this, in turn, improves nutrient exchange, leading to improved fertilizer utilization efficiency and cleaner runoff

Fertilizer utilization efficiency can serve as a proxy for nutrient utilization efficiency; the end goal isn’t to improve the use of fertilizer but to improve the fertility of soil long-term, such that unnatural fertilizers aren’t even necessary

Biochar is created by slowly heating a biomass in a low-oxygen environment, such as a kiln, until everything but the carbon is burned off; the resulting biochar can then be added to compost before being placed into the ground

Dietary Fiber Helps Prevent Dementia, but Be Wary of Supplements When Taking These Medications

Many people consume less fiber than nutritionists recommend in countries such as the United States and Australia. COVID Shots Associated With Increased Risk of Blindness

The broad range of reported side effects of the COVID jab is astounding. Effects involve just about every part, organ and system of the body, including a range of eye problems

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s data mining of the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) reveals reports ranging from eye discomfort, bruising and numbness, to serious conditions such as retinal vein and retinal artery occlusions, eye hemorrhage and retinal and ophthalmic migraines

Two recent papers highlight the risk of ophthalmic vascular events, which can lead to blindness, following the COVID jab. Less than 20% of patients who experience central retinal artery occlusion, i.e., a blockage in the main artery of the retina, regain functional visual acuity in the affected eye

A systematic review of 49 studies found that most vascular events involving the eyes occurred after the first dose, and were more common after the Pfizer and AstraZeneca shots

A second risk assessment concluded that, across age groups, the risk of retinal vascular occlusion more than doubled in the two years following the mRNA COVID jab

Tucker Carlson Lawyer Suggests Fox News Boycott in Response to Alleged Cease-and-Desist Letter

A lawyer for Tucker Carlson responded to claims that Fox News sent a cease-and-desist to the former host over his Twitter show, accusing the network of engaging in censorship.

A report from Axios claimed that Fox sent a letter, which has the text “NOT FOR PUBLICATION” at the top, demanding that Carlson stop his Twitter show. The first two episodes drew tens of millions of impressions on Twitter.

In response to the Monday report, Harmeet Dhillon, a lawyer who represents Carlson, wrote on Twitter that her “friend and client [Carlson] will not be silenced—by the far left or by Fox News.”

In an interview with Billboard last week, the singer said he wanted it to ‘be a place you feel safe in’ and where ‘there are manners and people like one another’.

But since his comments, some of his fans have hit back claiming they would ‘throw out his records’ and ‘never attend another one of his concerts’.

The Censorship Leviathan Must Be Stopped

One year ago, I joined the states of Missouri and Louisiana and several other co-plaintiffs to file a suit in federal court challenging what journalist Michael Shellenberger has called the censorship-industrial complex. While much of the press cooperated with the state’s censorship efforts and has ignored our court battle, we expect that it will ultimately go to the Supreme Court, setting up Missouri v. Biden to be the most important free speech case of our generation—and arguably, of the past 50 years.

Prior government censorship cases typically involved a state actor unconstitutionally meddling with one publisher, one author, one or two books, a single article. But as we intend to prove in court, the federal government has censored hundreds of thousands of Americans, violating the law on tens of millions of occasions in the last several years. This unprecedented breach was made possible by the wholly novel reach and breadth of the new digital social media landscape.

My co-plaintiffs, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and Dr. Martin Kulldorff, and I were censored for content related to COVID and public health policy that the government disfavored. Documents we have reviewed on discovery demonstrate that government censorship was far more wide-ranging than previously known, from election integrity and the Hunter Biden laptop story to gender ideology, abortion, monetary policy, the US banking system, the war in Ukraine, the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, and more. There is hardly a topic of recent public discussion and debate that the US government has not targeted for censorship.

Jacob Seigel, Matt Taibbi, and other investigative reporters have begun to document the anatomy of the censorship leviathan, a tightly interconnected network of federal agencies and private entities receiving public funding—where much of the censorship grunt work is outsourced. The “industrial” in censorship-industrial complex should be understood literally: censorship is now a highly developed industry, complete with career-training institutions in higher education (like Stanford’s Internet Observatory or the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public), full-time job opportunities in industry and government (from the Virality Project and the Election Integrity Partnership to any number of federal agencies engaged in censorship), and insider jargon and euphemisms (like disinformation, misinformation, and “malinformation” which must be debunked and “prebunked”) to render the distasteful work of censorship more palatable to industry insiders.

Our lawyers were in court last week arguing for a preliminary injunction to halt the activities of the censorship machine while our case is tried. I will spare you a full account of the government’s endless procedural wrangling, obfuscation, attempts to hide, delays, and diversionary tactics in this case—futile efforts to dodge even the most legally straightforward aspects of discovery, such as our request to depose former Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki. So far, the government has been caught hiding discovery materials, which the judge chastised them about before ruling against their motion to dismiss, reminding the government that the limited discovery so far would widen once the case went to trial.

The government’s lawyers were not able to block the deposition of Anthony Fauci, however, who had to answer some pointed questions about his COVID policies for the first time under the threat of the penalty of perjury. Dr. Fauci seemed to suffer from a strange syndrome of “sudden-onset amnesia” during his deposition, as I have described elsewhere.

Repairs of Collapsed I-95 in Philadelphia to Take Months

Commuters warned to expect delays this summer

Traffic along a major East Coast artery is likely to face months of delays after an elevated section of the I-95 highway in Pennsylvania collapsed on Sunday morning, state officials said.

The approximately 70-foot-wide northbound portion of the I-95 in Philadelphia fell through after a tanker truck carrying flammable cargo caught fire on an exit ramp under an overpass, quickly melting the steel support structures of the highway.

Transportation officials said fire from the petroleum-based cargo, which may have contained hundreds of gallons of gasoline, took about an hour to get under control. Commuters have been warned of extensive delays and street closures in Philadelphia’s northeast corner.

The four northbound lanes of the I-95 have all collapsed, while southbound lanes were “compromised” from the heat of the fire, Derek Bowmer, battalion chief of the Philadelphia Fire Department, told reporters on Sunday afternoon.

Runoff from the fire or perhaps broken gas lines also caused explosions underground, he said.

White House Accused Of Violating Flag Code To Honor Pride Month

The Biden White House sparked the ire of some online commentators after its Saturday LGBT Pride Month celebration was accused of violating the U.S. Flag Code.

The White House recognized the LGBT community June 10 with “The largest Pride Month celebration ever held at the White House,” according to the official White House Twitter account. Photos accompanying the social media post show a large crowd assembled on the White House lawn, performers on an outdoor stage and a rainbow-colored arch made of balloons.

The White House draped a Pride Progress flag between two national flags of the United States, a purported violation of the U.S. Flag Code, which sparked outrage online.

“To advance revolutionary transgender agenda targeting children, Biden violates basic tenet of US Flag Code and disrespects every American service member buried under its colors,” Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch tweeted, “U.S. Flag Code §7. (e) The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs.”

“US flag code decrees that the American flag must always be in the dominant, not subservient position. Joe Biden “Commander and Chief” defaced the American flag by flanking the alphabet cult flag at the White House today,” tweeted conservative political commentator Benny Johnson.
