Israeli Government Approves Deal: 4-Day Pause for 50 Hostages

The Israeli government approved a deal Tuesday night that will see the Palestinian Hamas terror group release at least 50 female, child, and elderly hostages over four days, in return for a pause in the fighting in the Gaza Strip.

In return, Israel will release a greater number of convicted Palestinians — though none who have been convicted of murder. Israel will resume the fight as soon as the hostages are delivered and the four-day period is over, as it works to destroy Hamas.

Largest Crypto Exchange Binance Fined $4 billion, CEO Pleads Guilty to Not Stopping Money Laundering

The U.S. government dealt a massive blow to Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, which agreed to pay a roughly $4 billion settlement Tuesday as its founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to a felony related to his failure to prevent money laundering on the platform.

Zhao stepped down as the company’s chief executive and Binance admitted to violations of the Bank Secrecy Act and apparent violations of sanctions programs, including its failure to implement reporting programs for suspicious transactions.

North Korea says ‘spy satellite’ launch is successful

North Korean space authorities say launch vehicle places the Malligyong-1 satellite into orbit as US condemns ‘brazen violation’ of UN resolutions.

North Korean space authorities say launch vehicle places the Malligyong-1 satellite into orbit as US condemns ‘brazen violation’ of UN resolutions.

The space agency will send up multiple spy satellites in the near future to secure surveillance capabilities over South Korea and other regions of interest to North Korea’s armed forces, KCNA reported.

Officials in South Korea and Japan, which first reported the launch, said they could not immediately verify whether a satellite was placed in orbit.

North Korea had previously notified Japan that it planned to launch a satellite between November 22 and December 1.

North Korea had tried to launch what it called spy satellites twice this year but failed. South Korean officials said in recent days that it appeared ready to try again soon.

National living wage to rise by almost 10% to £11.44 an hour

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt says earnings of full-time workers will rise by £1,800 a year next spring as a the result of moveNearly 3 million low-paid workers will receive a pay increase of almost 10% next spring after the chancellor announced an increase in the national living wage to £11.44 an hour.

Jeremy Hunt said the earnings of full-time workers would rise by £1,800 a year as a result of a move that the Low Pay Commission (LPC) said met the 2019 Conservative pledge to end poverty pay in the UK.

The chancellor accepted in full the recommendation of the LPC – the body set up to advise ministers on the level of the national legal minimum wage – by announcing the largest ever cash increase in the low pay floor.

The increase from £10.42 to £11.44 comes against a backdrop of a cost of living crisis in which inflation peaked at 11.1% – the highest in 40 years.

Russia is Hoarding Cruise Missiles Ahead of Winter Assault on Ukrainian Civilians, Says London

Russia hasn’t launched one of its advanced cruise missiles against Ukraine in months and is likely building up stocks ready for a winter assault on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Britain has said in an intelligence digest.

There hasn’t been a use of one of Russia’s “premier air launched cruise missiles” for nearly two months, the UK Ministry of Defence says, and this is “likely allowing it to build up a substantial stock of these weapons” as new supplies are delivered. This in turn, the intelligence digest from the British government states, is “highly likely” so the country can launch a major assault on Ukraine’s infrastructure come winter.

The Biden Administration Just Sold Out Taiwan, and No One Noticed

The Biden administration sold Taiwan out on Monday, and it appears that almost no one noticed.

The comments came during an interview on CNBC in which Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen spoke out about Chinese dictator Xi Jinping’s desire to directly rule the island. Instead of reinforcing the status quo, which assumes Tawinese self-governance, Yellen actually went to bat for the Chinese position.

That follows on the heels of the administration rolling out the red carpet for Xi Jinping in San Francisco as part of the annual APEC conference. In some of the scenes, one would be forgiven for mistaking the city for Beijing. Far from showing strength and resolve, the president (and California Gov. Gavin Newsom) played the role of sycophant. What the United States got in return, if anything, remains unclear.

As to Yellen’s commentary, do you know what peaceful unification with mainland China looks like? It looks like tanks rolling into Hong Kong and protesters being thrown in prison for opposing the dissolution of their basic rights. We’ve already seen that movie before. There is no scenario where China and Taiwan “unify” peacefully, with freedom and democracy being maintained for those who live on the island.

Yellen knows that. Which is why her comments are so egregious and morally bankrupt. What does China have on this administration? I don’t think I’ve ever seen the United States try so hard to garner the blessing of a genocidal maniac. I know Democrats like to obsess over Donald Trump’s meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jung Un, but the reality of that situation is that nothing was given up in the process.

U.S. NEWS, POLITICS & GOVERNMENT

This is the 60th Anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy … and we still don’t know any more of the truth than has been delivered to us in the form of mass speculation and obfuscation!  So, why are we so fixated on any type of outcome? It’s been 60 years and one would question why we still need closure.  Is it that we suspect our own government was behind JFK’s assassination?  The truth is that deep state was most likely involved and we’ll never know whodunit.

JFK Assassination Doctors Break Silence, Dispute Key Government Claim

Multiple doctors who were in the emergency room with President John F. Kennedy raised doubts about official narratives.

Several doctors who were in the emergency room when former President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 raised serious doubts about the official narrative that says a lone gunman was responsible, according to a new documentary featuring interviews conducted in 2013.

The federal Warren Commission established that two shots fired by lone gunman Lee Harvey Oswald, who was located in the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository, struck President Kennedy from behind as he was traveling in a motorcade in Dallas. One of the bullets entered his upper back and exited near his larynx, while the second bullet entered the right side of his head and exited via his forehead.

The former president was breathing when he entered Parkland Hospital before he was pronounced dead about a half an hour later. However, what seven doctors said in the recent footage disputes the commission’s claims about the event.

What If the Constitution No Longer Applied? Freedom’s Greatest Hour of Danger Is Now

We are approaching critical mass, the point at which all hell breaks loose.

The government is pushing us ever closer to a constitutional crisis.

What makes the outlook so much bleaker is the utter ignorance of the American people—and those who represent them—about their freedoms, history, and how the government is supposed to operate.

As Morris Berman points out in his book Dark Ages America, “70 percent of American adults cannot name their senators or congressmen; more than half don’t know the actual number of senators, and nearly a quarter cannot name a single right guaranteed by the First Amendment. Sixty-three percent cannot name the three branches of government. Other studies reveal that uninformed or undecided voters often vote for the candidate whose name and packaging (e.g., logo) are the most powerful; color is apparently a major factor in their decision.”

More than government corruption and ineptitude, police brutality, terrorism, gun violence, drugs, illegal immigration or any other so-called “danger” that threatens our nation, civic illiteracy may be what finally pushes us over the edge.

As Thomas Jefferson warned, no nation can be both ignorant and free.

Unfortunately, the American people have existed in a technology-laden, entertainment-fueled, perpetual state of cluelessness for so long that civic illiteracy has become the new normal for the citizenry.

Appeals Court Suggests It May Narrow Trump Gag Order in Election Case

Several members of an appeals court suggested the order might be pared down.

Several members of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit suggested they might narrow a gag order that was imposed on former President Donald Trump in his election case, coming weeks after a lower court judge imposed the ruling.

In mid-October, U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled that the former president cannot publicly comment on court staff, prosecutors, or witnesses. The former president, who polls show is the leading GOP presidential candidate, appealed her order, while federal prosecutors have argued that the order should be upheld.

Earlier this month, the appeals court temporarily held Judge Chutkan’s ruling while it heard arguments. During those arguments on Monday, several panel members made public statements suggesting they would at least reduce her earlier ruling.

Trump Calls to Revamp RNC If Debates Continue

The Republican frontrunner is calling for the GOP leadership to be more strategic with their finite funds.

Former President Donald Trump has just raised the stakes in the standoff between his movement and the GOP establishment for the heart of the Republican Party.

In a Nov. 20 post on Truth Social, President Trump highlighted new poll results from Harvard University’s Center for American Political Studies and the Harris Poll, saying both suggest that the Republican National Committee (RNC) should spend money against Democrats rather than investing in additional Republican presidential debates.

“If not, revamp the RNC, now!” the former president wrote.

Dan Goldman Says He ‘Mistakenly Used Wrong Word’ In Trump Assassination Gaffe

Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY) says he ‘mistakenly used the wrong word’ when he said over the weekend that Donald Trump ‘has to be eliminated’ – comments which some interpreted as a veiled death threat against the former US President.

“I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again,” Goldman wrote on X. “While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words,” he continued.

Judge declines to revoke bond of Trump Georgia co-defendant

A Georgia judge declined to revoke the bond of one of former President Trump’s co-defendants in his 2020 election subversion case Tuesday, allowing him to remain free on bond ahead of a future trial.

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee determined Tuesday that the bond agreement for Harrison Floyd, a former leader of Black Voices for Trump, must be updated to reflect the “nuances of social media.” However, McAfee said he believed that Floyd did make a “technical violation” of his bond.

Suspended Adams aide told staffers to delete texts after FBI raid: source

A controversial aide to Mayor Eric Adams who was suspended for inappropriate conduct urged City Hall staffers to delete texts after the FBI raided her home, a source close to the federal probe told The Post.

Rana Abbasova, director of protocol in the Office for International Affairs, was suspended from the $80,000-a-year post after Adams’ lawyers learned of her efforts to erase text message exchanges, the source said.

Federal investigators, who are probing Adams’ alleged fundraising irregularities, then obtained a court warrant to retrieve Adams’ mobile devices to determine if he had also received messages from Abbasova.

The mayor did not receive a message, the source said.

“It was immediately reported to investigators,” the source said, adding that any communications between Adams and Abbasova were “benign” and not central to the probe.

Army Turns to New Source for Recruits—Unvaccinated Former Soldiers

‘Developing and employing the skills and talents of prior service members can benefit individual soldiers and the Army,’ new Army guidance stated.

The U.S. Army is telling unvaccinated former soldiers who were kicked out of the military for refusing to receive a COVID-19 vaccine that they can potentially rejoin the force as the military struggles to draw new recruits.

“Individuals who desire to apply to return to service should contact their local … recruiter,” Brig. Gen. Hope Rampy, U.S. Army director of personnel management, wrote in a letter sent to former Army personnel.

Brig. Gen. Rampy was alerting former members to new guidance that enables soldiers who were kicked out for not receiving a COVID-19 vaccine to ask for their military records to be corrected.

Democrat ex-Maryland Mayor Patrick Wojahn Gets 30 Year Prison Term over Child Porn Material

The Democrat ex-mayor of College Park, Maryland, Patrick Wojahn, was sentenced to 30 years in prison Monday over possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Wojahn pleaded guilty to more than 100 counts connected to the pornography.

The onetime regular White House guest and “mentee” of Pete Buttigieg was first arrested back in March on 56 child pornography possession and distribution charges, as Breitbart News reported.

Arizona County Votes Again Against Hand-Counting 2024 Election Ballots

Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, told officials that her office would file a lawsuit against the county if the measure were approved.

Arizona’s Mohave County on Nov. 20 voted against hand-counting all ballots for the 2024 election—the second time the county has done so this year.

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 against the proposal after Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, told officials that approving the proposal would mean directing election workers to violate the law. She warned that her office would file a lawsuit if the measure were approved.

A hand count was also rejected in early August after Board Chairman Travis Lingenfelter said he couldn’t justify the cost given that Mohave County’s budget deficit already stands at about $16 million. County election officials had said it would take 245 new workers to count all ballots by hand.

Republican Celeste Maloy Projected Winner in Utah Special Election

Republican Celeste Maloy has been projected to win the special election in Utah for the open U.S. House seat recently vacated by Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT).

Maloy beat out Utah State Sen. Kathleen Riebe (D) to win the seat. Per the Hill:

Maloy and Riebe were vying to fill the House vacancy after Stewart resigned earlier this year, citing concerns for his wife’s health. Maloy previously worked for Stewart’s congressional office as chief legal counsel.

The Republican candidate was largely expected to win the seat on Tuesday, given her link to Stewart and the GOP’s success in the state. Former President Trump won Utah in both 2016 and 2020, and voters in the second congressional district had voted Stewart in to six terms in office.

But Maloy has also been faced with some controversy in the state because she did not cast a ballot in the 2020 and 2022 elections, according to reporting from The Salt Lake Tribune.

Maloy’s district covers the western and southern parts of Utah along with the northern part of Salt Lake City.

Jill Stein formally launches 2024 White House bid as Green party candidate

A new front opened in the growing threats to Joe Biden’s presidency on Tuesday when the left-wing environmentalist Jill Stein formally launched her third presidential bid in an online conversation with two fellow progressive activists.

Stein, 73, who is bidding to become the US Green party’s nominee, is the latest in a series of mostly leftist figures to announce candidacies with the potential to erode Biden’s core support in an expected re-match against Donald Trump in next year’s poll.

Having previously announced her candidacy with a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, she gave added substance to her campaign in a live Zoom conversation with Chris Smalls, a US trade union organiser for Amazon workers, and Miko Peled, an Israeli-born pro-Palestinian activist.

GAO Report: Biden’s Rush to Mass‐Cancel Student Debt Left Taxpayers Behind

A new Government Accountability Office report on the Biden administration’s student debt cancellation bonanza, which was struck down by the Supreme Court in June, says the administration was doing too little to protect taxpayers:

Education developed two processes to assess borrower incomes and account for fraud risks, but did not implement key procedures to further identify and prevent potential fraud. For example, the department approved millions of applicants before fully implementing processes to review and evaluate fraud risk, such as collecting income information from the other borrowers it had selected for verification or assessing the borrowers it had approved. In addition, the department automatically approved some borrowers based on self‐reported data, without conducting any additional assessment of borrower risk.

This sounds like an administration in a hurry, which is certainly how the cancellation felt. After a year and a half of reaching no conclusion about mass cancellation, on August 24, 2022, Biden declared that he was good to go. By mid‐October, as various groups scrambled to mount a legal defense against the unconstitutional $430 billion action, the Department of Education started taking—and approving—applications.

Ban on Incandescent Light Bulbs Creates Surge in Demand

A law passed in the United States prohibiting the manufacturing of incandescent light bulbs has fueled a sharp rise in popularity for the Edison-created technology.

Tino Carrejo, a lighting specialist at the Light Bulb Depot in Austin, Texas, told The Epoch Times that as supplies continue to dry up, he has seen a rise in demand for the old-fashioned bulbs.

“We have seen a dramatic increase in people wanting the old bulbs, no doubt,” said Mr. Carrejo. “There isn’t a day that goes by where a customer doesn’t come into our store asking for the incandescent bulbs.”

Ford Cuts Jobs, Investment for Michigan Electric Vehicle Battery Plant Linked to Chinese Firm

Ford Motor Company and China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. (CATL) are already cutting jobs and financial investment at an Electric Vehicle (EV) battery plant set for Marshall, Michigan.

In February, Ford announced the collaboration with CATL — China’s premier battery supplier — to build a $3.5 billion plant in the small community of Marshall that executives said would create 2,500 jobs.

CDC HEALTH RECALL WARNING:

CDC Issues Alert for Potentially Deadly Outbreak Linked to Recalled Products

The CDC warned that people ’65 years or older’ are ‘often’ hospitalized over the bacteria.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday issued a “food safety alert” about a bacterial outbreak across seven states.

Whole peaches, nectarines, and plums from HMC Farms or Signature Farms were recalled due to 11 known illnesses, 10 hospitalizations, and one death in the listeria outbreak, according to the health agency. The products were sold in stores between May 1 and Nov. 15 in 2022 and 2023, it said.

“Investigators are working to determine if any additional fruit or products made with this fruit may be contaminated,” the CDC said.

Synthetic vs. Natural Caffeine and How Each May Affect Aging

Some studies suggest synthetic caffeine may accelerate aging, but research is limited. Learn about the differences between natural and synthetic caffeine.

From Starbucks to Red Bull to Coke, caffeine has become the energy lifeline for the 75 percent of Americans who consume it on a daily basis. It is the spark that ignites our brains and bodies to get through a long day.

However, not all caffeine presents itself the same, according to emerging research demonstrating that synthetic caffeine may accelerate aging while naturally occurring caffeine could slow age-related decline.

Synthetic vs. Natural Caffeine and How Each May Affect Aging

In a final ruling published on Tuesday, Nov. 21, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration established five new guidelines regulating how the $1.3 trillion prescription drugs market can advertise its products to consumers on television and radio.

The bottom line is that ads must clearly present side effects and contraindications in plain language so consumers can make informed healthcare decisions.

On Technocracy: Why We Are Sleepwalking Into Tyranny

As reality slips away, you see can the simulacrum forming and sucking millions of people into the vortex. The progress of a simulacrum is that it starts with a reflection of a profound reality, then masks it, and then unties it from reality entirely. Thus, a simulacrum is anti-realty. When people enter into this “Twilight Zone” state, you can lie to them with impunity and they won’t know the difference.

How can you prevent your own capture into this simulacrum? First, maintain a touchstone on the outside, like the Bible. Second, consciously reject any lie or falsehood. Third, always keep an eye on who is behind the simulacrum. The next 3-4 years will be fierce as reality retreats into oblivion for billions of people worldwide, creating a soul-crushing tyranny. ⁃ TN Editor

Sam Altman reinstated as OpenAI CEO five days after being fired

An initial three-man board with one original member has been appointed to create a permanent board.

Sam Altman is returning to OpenAI as CEO after his firing five days ago launched the company onto one of the wildest rollercoaster rides in tech history. Former president Greg Brockman, who resigned on Friday in protest, will also return, The Verge‘s sources say. The original board has been disbanded and replaced by a new, temporary three-man board with Bret Taylor (chair), Larry Summers and original board member Adam D’Angelo, the company said in a post on X.

The agreement has been struck “in principal,” and must still be approved by all parties. The only job of the initial board will be to vet and appoint a permanent board with up to 9 members that will reset OpenAI’s governance. One of those seats will likely to go Microsoft and Altman himself, The Verge reported.

Deep space astronauts may be prone to erectile dysfunction, study finds

As if homesickness, wasting muscles, thinner bones, an elevated cancer risk, the inescapable company of overachievers and the prospect of death in the endless vacuum of space were not enough to contend with, male astronauts may return from deep space prone to erectile dysfunction, scientists say.

In what is claimed to be the first study to assess the impact of galactic radiation and weightlessness on male sexual health, Nasa-funded researchers found that galactic cosmic rays, and to a lesser extent microgravity, can impair the function of erectile tissues, with effects lasting potentially for decades.

Raising their concerns in a report on Wednesday, the US researchers said they had identified “a new health risk to consider with deep space exploration”. They called for the sexual health of astronauts to be closely monitored on their return from future deep space missions, noting that certain antioxidants may help to counteract the ill-effects by blocking harmful biological processes.

Lawmaker demands transparency on massive surveillance program

Information ‘would justifiably outrage many Americans and other members of Congress

Rep. Ron Wyden (D-OR) Monday sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding he declassify information about a massive surveillance program in which the federal government obtains taxpayers’ private phone records without warrants.

In 2013 the New York Times first revealed the existence of the Hemisphere Project which involved the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) buying phone records from AT&T and giving them to law enforcement agencies. Approximately four billion records were added each day to a special database kept by AT&T for the program which contained records stretching back to 1987.

As part of the Hemisphere Project, law enforcement agencies were able to not only obtain phone records of targets but also the phone records of everyone who communicated with the target.

It is unknown whether other mobile carriers have also been working with the federal government under Hemisphere or other programs. Representatives from Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon refused to comment on the story.

Because the federal government does not pay AT&T directly, the program is not subject to the usual mandatory Privacy Impact Assessment that the Justice Department would be required to conduct. Instead, ONDCP transfers the funds through a grant program referred to as Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), which has 33 subsidiaries that distribute federal funds.

Rep. Andy Biggs: White House-Funded Surveillance Program ‘Stark Reminder’ Surveillance Reform Must Go Beyond FISA

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), the chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance, in a letter on Tuesday, wrote  the White House National Drug Control Policy’s secret funding of a surveillance program proves that surveillance reform must go far beyond Section 702 of FISA.

Biggs sent his letter to Dr. Rahul Gupta, the director of the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), on the heels of a bombshell Wired report, in which Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) revealed that a surveillance program, known as Data Analytical Services (DAS), has for more than a decade allowed law enforcement agencies to collect American phone call data, including those not suspected of any crimes.

Backlash forces EPA to pause toxic PFAS waste imports to US from Netherlands

North Carolina residents push back against environmental agency bringing 4m lbs of ‘forever chemical’ waste to region

The federal US government has paused the importation of millions of pounds of toxic PFAS “forever chemical” waste from the Netherlands following intense backlash from residents near a North Carolina facility that would receive the substances.

Local media last month revealed the Environmental Protection Agency had quietly approved a permit for chemical manufacturer Chemours to import about 4m lbs of waste over the next year, sparking fears of further pollution in a region already thoroughly contaminated by the company’s operations.

The increased amount of PFAS waste processed locally would be “devastating”, said Emily Donovan, co-founder of the Clean Cape Fear non-profit.

Police search for suspect who shot and killed three people in Colorado property dispute

Hanme K Clark, 45, is believed to be driving a 2017 white Ram 1500 pickup truck with camper shell, says Custer county sheriff

A man was on the run on Tuesday after police say he fatally shot three people and critically wounded a fourth over a years-long dispute about the use of an easement on the suspect’s property in rural Colorado, authorities said.

The 45-year-old suspect, Hanme K Clark, was believed to be driving a 2017 white Ram 1500 pickup truck with a camper shell, said the Custer county sheriff, Lloyd Rich Smith. He said at a midday news conference that the department were narrowing in on the suspect and hoped he would surrender peacefully.

Smith said the dispute – which included a lawsuit filed by the suspect in 2020 – had led sheriff’s deputies to the property several times in recent years. There had been no indication that it would lead to violence, Smith said.

The suspect was part owner of a business called Herbal Gardens, whose website said it is dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing through the use of herbal remedies.

The shooting took place on the property line in a wooded area on Monday afternoon, sending deputies to Rocky Ridge Road, about 8 miles (13km) from the county seat of Westcliffe and about 50 miles (80km) south-west of Colorado Springs.

Two men and a woman died at the scene and a fourth person was taken to a trauma center in critical condition but was expected to survive, the sheriff’s office said. Their names were not immediately released.

Justice Thomas Dissents in Lawsuit Against Chemical Giant DuPont

Justice Clarence Thomas dissented from the Supreme Court’s decision this week not to review a $40 million verdict an Ohio man, Travis Abbott, won against DuPont.

Mr Abbott said toxic “forever chemicals” the company released into the water supply gave him cancer.

Justice Thomas wrote in a dissenting opinion on Nov. 20 that not taking the case could have repercussions “in potentially thousands of cases” and could interfere with the defendants’ Sixth Amendment right to a jury trial.

Common Drug Used by Pork Industry Has Human Cancer Risk

It’s been banned in the EU since 1999, as well as the UK, Canada, China, Brazil and Australia due to evidence of it causing liver tumors and birth defects.

November 7, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced it is considering withdrawing approval for the antibiotic carbadox, which is added to pig feed to prevent infections and fatten up the animals, due to cancer concerns

The drug has been banned in the European Union since 1999, and in Canada since 2006. China, Brazil, Australia and the UK have also banned it due to concerns over its cancer risks

In 2014, the United Nation’s Codex Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods determined that there is no safe level of residues of carbadox or its metabolites in food that represents an acceptable risk to consumers

Carbadox has been shown to cause liver cancer and birth defects in lab animals, and have long-lasting impacts on the gut microbiome of swine, even after the drug is withdrawn

A 2017 study found carbadox induced transducing bacteriophages with resistance genes to tetracycline, aminoglycoside and beta-lactam antibiotics — three classes of drugs that are commonly used in human medicine. The findings effectively dismisses the drugmaker’s and the National Pork Producers Council’s argument that since carbadox is not used in human medicine, it won’t contribute to drug resistance in humans

2ND AMENDMENT

Federal Court Finds Maryland’s Handgun License Law Unconstitutional

A federal appeals court struck down Maryland’s handgun licensure law Tuesday as a violation of the Second Amendment.

Maryland law requires individuals seeking a handgun to first secure a “handgun qualification license,” which entails taking a four hour firearm safety class, completing a background investigation and waiting up to 30 days. The Fourth Circuit found that this law is not “consistent with this Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation,” which is the standard the Supreme Court set out in its recent New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen ruling.

Survey Says Why More Americans are Embracing Their Rights

Nearly three out of four American gun owners say that self-defense is the reason they own a firearm, according to recent study from Pew Research Center. The data shows the 72% said “protection” is a main reason they own a fire- arm, as opposed to 32% who said “hunting,” 30% who said “sport shooting” and the remainder who say either “as part of a gun collection” or “their job.” Adding to those who said it is their “main reason,” a further 19% said that it was a “minor reason.”

To put this into context, only 26% of people listed self-defense as their main reason for owning a firearm in 1999, when Pew conducted a similar study. That figure jumped to 48% in 2013 and has only continued to rise.

This is a monumental shift in attitude. Most recently, many anti-freedom politicians have continuously demonized law-abiding firearms owners while turning a blind eye to criminals. As such, constitutional carry has spread throughout more than half of the states in the nation, but this is not the only noteworthy change.

Last year, America’s 1st Freedom reported that the average response times in New York City for both a “Critical Crime in Progress” and a “Serious Crime in Progress” increased between 2013 and 2021. The Big Apple is not alone, either.

Mainstream media must be “concerned” enough to do a story on gun ownership!

NBC News Poll Records Highest American Gun Ownership in Poll History

A NBC News poll conducted November 10-14, 2023, shows over half of Americans–52 percent–say they or someone in their household owns a gun.

NBC News noted that this was the highest level of gun ownership ever recorded in one of their polls.

In 2013, NBC News found the percentage of Americans owning guns was at 42 percent. In 2019, 46 percent of Americans said they or someone in their household owned a gun.

Now, the percentage is at 52 percent.

Moreover, gun ownership among Democrats has increased through the years of polling as well.

In 2004, 33 percent of Democrats said they or someone in their home owned a gun. In 2023, the percentage of Democrats admitting gun ownership was at 41 percent.

What to know about a mysterious dog respiratory illness

NBC News Scientists at the University of New Hampshire may have identified a pathogen that has sickened possibly thousands of dogs and killed some of them across the country.

The mysterious respiratory illness that may have sickened scores of dogs across the country could be caused by a new type of bacterial infection that may be very good at evading the canine immune system, researchers say. Some dogs have died from the illness that starts with causes a cough that can last for weeks, runny eyes and sneezing.

In a development that might help shed light on the illness, which has affected a range of dog breeds, researchers at the University of New Hampshire’s Veterinary Diagnosis Laboratory and the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies told NBC News they have identified a pathogen that might be what’s making pets sick.

Through a genetic sequencing of samples from an initial group of 30 dogs from New Hampshire who were infected last year and then an additional 40 from Rhode Island and Massachusetts who got sick this year, the researchers say they have discovered a previously unknown germ.

The pathogen is “a funky bacterium,”  said Dr. David Needle, pathology section chief at the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture at the University of New Hampshire. “It’s smaller than a normal bacterium in its size and in the size of its genome. Long story short, it’s a weird bacterium that can be tough to find and sequence.”

Aesop’s Fables: Heaven Helps Those Who Help Themselves

A farmer was driving his wagon along a miry country road after a heavy rain. The horses could hardly drag the load through the deep mud, and at last came to a standstill when one of the wheels sank to the hub in a rut.

The farmer climbed down from his seat and stood beside the wagon looking at it but without making the least effort to get it out of the rut. All he did was to curse his bad luck and call loudly on Hercules to come to his aid.

Then, it is said, Hercules really did appear, saying:

“Put your shoulder to the wheel, man, and urge on your horses. Do you think you can move the wagon by simply looking at it and whining about it? Hercules will not help unless you make some effort to help yourself.”

And when the farmer put his shoulder to the wheel and urged on the horses, the wagon moved very readily, and soon the Farmer was riding along in great content and with a good lesson learned.

Self help is the best help.

Heaven helps those who help themselves.
