Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday praised GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy when asked if he would consider the 38-year-old biotech engineer as a running mate.

“I think he’s great,” President Trump told conservative talk show host Glenn Beck. “Look, anybody that’s said I’m the best president in  a generation … and he said it a couple of times … I have to like a guy like that.”

During the interview, President Trump openly discussed his thoughts on the presidential candidacy of Mr. Ramaswamy, indicating his receptiveness to a youthful and comparatively unestablished candidate who could bring a fresh perspective to Washington.

Despite President Trump’s praise, Mr. Ramaswamy has previously told NewsNation that he would not accept being the former president’s vice president.

“I don’t do well in a No. 2, so I’d be about as likely to accept it as he would be to accept my offer to be my vice president,” Mr. Ramaswamy said earlier this month. “It’s a ‘no.’”

4.Only Trump Defendant Who Went to Jail Is Granted Bond in Georgia Case

Harrison Floyd, one of the 18 co-defendants to former President Donald Trump in the Georgia election, became the final defendant to be given bond in Fulton County on Tuesday amid speculation about why he was still being detained, jail records show.

A judge agreed to a $100,000 bond agreement for Mr. Floyd, five days after he was detained at the Fulton County Jail. According to Fulton County Jail records, he was released on Wednesday, although details were not clear.

Anonymous Sudan hacks X to put pressure on Elon Musk over Starlink

A hacking group called Anonymous Sudan took X, formerly known as Twitter, offline in more than a dozen countries on Tuesday morning in an attempt to pressurise Elon Musk into launching his Starlink service in their country.

X was down for more than two hours, with thousands of users affected.

“Make our message reach to Elon Musk: ‘Open Starlink in Sudan’,” the hackers posted on Telegram.

X is the latest victim of the gang hacking to “benefit Sudan and Islam”.

Over several weeks of private conversations with the group on the chat app Telegram, the BBC spoke to the hackers about their methods and motives.

One member of the group, who calls himself Crush, told the BBC that Tuesday’s attack flooded X’s servers with huge amounts of traffic to take it offline – the same blunt and relatively unsophisticated hacking techniques for which the gang is known.

The outage-tracking site Downdetector said nearly 20,000 outage reports were logged by users in the US and the UK, with a far higher number of people likely to have been affected.

Another hacking group member – Hofa – said the so-called DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack was aimed at raising awareness about the civil war in Sudan which is “making the internet very bad and it goes down quite often for us”.

X has not publicly acknowledged the disruption caused, and Mr Musk has not responded to questions to launch his satellite internet service in Sudan.

Russia accuses Ukraine of biggest drone attack of war

Russia on Wednesday accused Ukraine of its largest drone attack in the war so far, saying Ukrainian drones attacked six regions, including a major airport in western Russia.

U.S. NEWS, POLITICS & GOVERNMENT

US OKs First-Ever Foreign Military Financing Arms Package for Taiwan

The Biden administration has approved the first-ever military aid package for Taiwan using Foreign Military Financing (FMF), a State Department program that gives foreign governments money to buy US arms.

The Associated Press noted that FMF is typically reserved for sovereign, independent states, and the US does not recognize Taiwan as a country. US officials told AP that the only other time FMF has been used for a non-nation-state was assistance to the African Union, a bloc of 55 African states.

The FMF package is worth $80 million, but the administration did not disclose its contents in a notification to Congress. The 2023 National Defense Authorization Act included $2 billion in FMF funds for Taiwan. This marks the first time the funds have been used.

U.S. Draws on Existing Stockpiles to Send Another $250 Million in Weapons to Ukraine

The Biden administration announced Tuesday it will dig into existing stockpiles to enable an additional $250 million in weapons and ammunition to be sent to Ukraine as part of its ongoing support of Kyiv.

AP reports the drawdown from Pentagon inventories will include mine-clearing equipment, artillery and rocket rounds, ambulances and medical gear, among other items and spare parts, according to the State Department.

“The U.S. will continue to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with the capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements,” deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters Tuesday during a press conference.

White House Confirms ISIS-Linked Smuggler Helped Migrants Enter US From Mexico

The White House confirmed on Tuesday a report that a smuggler with ties to ISIS helped migrants enter the United States from Mexico, setting off alarm bells throughout the government.

CNN earlier reported that the FBI is investigating more than a dozen Uzbek nationals who entered the country through the southern border earlier this year. The investigation was launched after U.S. intelligence officials discovered that the migrants traveled with the assistance of a smuggler with connections to ISIS, according to the CNN report, citing multiple U.S. officials.

The incident was so alarming that an urgent classified intelligence report was included in the morning briefing book for President Joe Biden’s top Cabinet members, the report said. It also prompted a flurry of emergency meetings between the top national security and administration officials.

US Senate’s McConnell freezes up for second time in public appearance

Top U.S. Senate Republican Mitch McConnell froze up for more than 30 seconds on Wednesday during a public appearance before he was escorted away, the second such incident in little more than a month, a clip from an NBC News affiliate showed.

Giuliani liable for defaming Georgia election workers, judge rules

Donald Trump’s former lawyer Rudy Giuliani is liable for defaming two Georgia election workers who were the target of vote-rigging conspiracy accusations following the 2020 U.S. presidential election, a U.S. judge in Washington ruled on Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell issued the order as a sanction against Giuliani for failing to turn over electronic records sought by the two Fulton County election workers, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother Ruby Freeman, in the case.

Exclusive — Conservative Leaders: Risk of Government Shutdown Worth Stopping Biden Agenda

Conservative leaders are urging Republicans in Congress to take a government shutdown fight “head-on” and reject the Continuing Resolution (CR) proposed by leadership — urging lawmakers to use the budget to “disrupt the Washington Swamp’s playbook to force reforms to Democrats’ failed policies.”

New Jersey Law Banning Detention of Illegal Aliens Ruled Unconstitutional

A federal judge has ruled that a New Jersey law effectively banning the detention of illegal aliens is unconstitutional.

“Given the border security crisis that has escalated the last few years, it is essential for our country to have the ability to detain illegal aliens who have violated federal law and are fighting deportation,” the Immigration Reform Law Institute’s Dale Wilcox said in a statement emailed to Breitbart News.

3 Supreme Court Cases Could Shake Up the Administrative State

Commentary – The major theme of the coming Supreme Court term is administrative law. Once obscure, this body of statutes, rules, and cases governing the structure and conduct of the federal government’s administrative agencies gained public attention through recent eye-catching cases—like the ones that downed the student loan cancellation plan and set aside the clean power plan that would have shifted the nation’s power grid to all renewable energy sources.

Blame Game Over NY’s Illegal Immigrant Crisis Escalates

The fight over who’s to blame for New York’s illegal immigrant crisis is heating up as the city struggles to deal with an influx of more than 100,000 people from the southern border.

While the mayor of New York City and the state’s governor want the Biden administration to step up and address the border crisis, the White House is pushing the blame on Republicans.

Business executives joined the fight by sending an open letter, dated Aug. 28, to President Joe Biden and congressional leaders, urging them to address the “humanitarian crisis” that has overwhelmed New York City as well as the border area and other cities across the country.

James Woods issues dire warning: ‘They want you in invisible chains’

‘What happens when the majority of humans tell them no we won’t comply?’

Hollywood star James Woods is sounding the alarm about the desire of global powers to keep the world’s populace in extreme captivity, saying, “They want you in chains. Not visible, but in chains.”

In a message posted on X Wednesday, the actor specified examples of invisible shackles to keep people in bondage.

“Electric cars, that can be traced and turned off by them. Electric heat, electronic currency, traceable phones, ‘cookies,’ medical ‘passports,’ masks.”

Woods was commenting on a brief video he shared listing the so-called reasons and excuses given by government authorities and leftists for draconian lockdowns and restrictions related to the COVID pandemic.

Break free from Portland? Why eastern Oregon wants to join Idaho.

Hidden somewhere beneath the Snake River’s flowing brown water lies the exact dividing line separating one of America’s most liberal states from one of its most conservative.

But according to a group of rural, conservative secessionists, the Oregon-Idaho border should be moved 300 miles west.

It may be a pipe dream, but the Greater Idaho movement has been picking up steam over the past few years to become the most active secessionist movement in modern America. These eastern Oregonians say their home state’s politics, dominated by infamously progressive Portland in the west, don’t reflect their values. So they’re trying to get their rural, conservative neighbor, Idaho, to absorb them.

HHS sends recommendation to DEA on rescheduling marijuana

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has sent its findings on marijuana to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as part of the Biden administration’s efforts to possibly alter marijuana’s status in the U.S.

In October 2022, President Biden requested that the HHS secretary and the attorney general conduct a review of how marijuana is currently scheduled under federal law. Marijuana is currently classified as a Schedule I controlled substance, meaning the DEA considers it a drug “with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.”

HHS on Tuesday confirmed it sent its findings to the DEA this week.

“Following the data and science, HHS has expeditiously responded to President Biden’s directive to HHS Secretary [Xavier Becerra] and provided its scheduling recommendation for marijuana to the DEA on August 29, 2023,” an HHS spokesperson said.

The spokesperson did not specify what the department’s exact recommendation was. According to an HHS letter obtained by Bloomberg, the agency recommended reclassifying marijuana as a Schedule III drug, or a substance considered to have “moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence”

There are five schedules the DEA categorizes drugs into. Examples of Schedule III drugs include products with up to 90 mg of codeine per dose, anabolic steroids and ketamine.

Currently, 23 states and D.C. have enacted laws regulating the nonmedical use of marijuana for adults. Several others have medical marijuana programs in place, but federal law still prohibits the possession of any amount of marijuana.

ECONOMY & BUSINESS

Regarding Hurricane Idalia … (from the Morning Brew) …

The damage may be extensive and expensive

Before the storm struck Florida, insurance broker BMS predicted that any major hurricane hitting the state and moving into the Southeast would constitute a multibillion-dollar insurance industry event.

Last year, Hurricane Ian, a deadly storm, caused nearly $100 billion worth of damage in the area. And with climate change making dangerous and expensive extreme weather events more common, property insurance companies have begun to rethink their relationship with Florida (as well as other high-risk states like California).

  • Farmers Insurance stopped issuing new home, auto, and umbrella policies in the state in July.
  • Bankers Insurance and AIG subsidiary Lexington Insurance have also retreated from offering new policies in Florida, while AAA said it would not renew some policies in risky areas.

Looking ahead…the lack of available insurance and the high cost of insuring property in the state may mean some homeowners go without coverage, which can make rebuilding from a storm financially devastating.—AR

Read between the lines on this one …

If you’re in Florida and you have a mortgage on your home and you shrink it below its value in order to save money, you may be in default on your mortgage, which requires you to maintain enough insurance to mitigate the lender’s loan on your home. Canceling your insurance altogether would put you in immediate default and the lender will foreclose on you and sell your home!  This is another way the system is going to steal your American Dream!

Federal Appeals Court Reinstates Trump-Era Ban on Student Loan Collection Fees

A month before student loan payments are set to resume, a federal appeals court has reinstated a rule prohibiting student loan guaranty agencies from charging collection fees from defaulted borrowers who quickly resume paying.

The rule was finalized by the Trump administration in 2019. It blocked guaranty agencies that administer federally backed student loans made before 2010 from recovering “collection costs” from borrowers who defaulted but took steps to repay or rehabilitate their loans in a timely manner.

The rule only applies to debt from the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program, which was discontinued during the 2009–2010 academic year.

EXCLUSIVE: RFK Jr. Proposes 3 Percent Mortgages, Says Corporations Make Housing Crisis Worse

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said that if elected president, he would create a 3 percent mortgage for Americans guaranteed by the government and funded by the sale of tax-free bonds, and he would work to make it less profitable for large corporations to own single-family homes in the United States.

“If you have a rich uncle who co-signs your mortgage, you will get a lower interest rate because the bank looks at his credit rating. I’m going to give everyone a rich uncle, and his name is Uncle Sam,” Mr. Kennedy said at a recent town hall in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Mr. Kennedy added that the first 500,000 of those 3 percent mortgages would be reserved for teachers.

US expands microchip blacklist

The ban reportedly targets unnamed countries in the Middle East

The US has expanded the list of nations targeted by its latest ban on supplies of artificial-intelligence chips produced by Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), adding several states in the Middle East to the semiconductor blacklist, Reuters reported on Thursday.

According to Nvidia’s regulatory filing seen by the news agency, the curbs that affect its A100 and H100 chips –designed to speed up machine-learning tasks– won’t exert any “immediate material impact” on the company’s results.

AMD, which has received a formal letter directing similar restrictions, also envisages no material impact on its revenue, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Neither Nvidia nor AMD have specified which countries in the Middle East are the latest to be affected by Washington’s export restrictions.

Google Researchers Introduce 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗜𝗗: A Digital Tool to Watermark and Identify AI-Generated Images

In the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI), generative models are creating photorealistic images that are nearly indistinguishable from those captured by traditional means. While this technology unlocks immense creative potential, it also raises concerns about the spread of misinformation and the need to distinguish AI-generated content from real imagery. The challenge lies in identifying these AI-generated images, as they can be used to disseminate both accurate and false information, blurring the lines between reality and simulation.

Currently, identifying AI-generated content poses a significant challenge. Traditional watermarking methods, like stamps or translucent text overlays, can be easily manipulated or removed. Metadata, while useful, can be altered or lost during editing. The existing solutions lack the robustness needed to ensure the integrity of media in an era where content manipulation is growing more sophisticated.

Meet SynthID, a pioneering tool jointly developed by Google DeepMind and Google Research aimed at watermarking and identifying AI-generated images. This revolutionary technology embeds an invisible digital watermark directly into the pixels of an image, allowing it to be detected for identification purposes. SynthID was conceived with a mission to empower users to responsibly interact with AI-generated content and bolster trust in digital media.

How Much Does It Cost To Butcher a Cow?

If you live on a farm or homestead and have thought about owning cows, one of the biggest motivators besides milk is the prospect of getting hundreds and hundreds of pounds of high quality beef for cheap.

Or at least, cheaper than you can buy it at the grocery store!

But the journey from beef on the hoof to beef in your freezer or refrigerator means that the cow is going to have to be processed by a butcher, and that is a whole extra set of costs.

So, how much does it cost to butcher a cow?

It can cost anywhere from $400 to $1,000 to butcher a cow depending on your location and the cost of services like transportation, killing, wrapping, and any special cuts or products you might desire.

Butchering, as you can imagine, is an extremely involved process when it comes to a full-size cow, and demand in your local area and many other factors can dramatically influence the final figure.

Keep reading, and I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the costs associated with butchering a cow…

‘Still alive and wriggling:’ Doctors remove 3-inch parasitic worm from woman’s brain in world first

When a 64-year-old Australian woman was sent to hospital for brain surgery, neurosurgeon Dr. Hari Priya Bandi was not expecting to pull out a live 8-centimeter (3-inch) long parasitic roundworm that wriggled between her forceps.

“I’ve only come across worms using my not-so-good gardening skills … I find them terrifying and this is not something I deal with at all,” Bandi told CNN of the world’s first discovery of a live worm inside a human brain.

The finding unleashed a mad scramble to find out what exactly the parasite was, Canberra Hospital infectious disease expert Sanjaya Senanayake told CNN.

One colleague in the hospital lab was able to reach an animal parasitology expert at a governmental scientific research agency just 20 minutes away – and found their unexpected answer.

“We were able to send the live wiggling worm to him, and he was able to look at it and immediately identify it,” Senanayake said.

Molecular tests confirmed it was Ophidascaris robertsi, a roundworm usually found in pythons, according to a press release from the Australian National University and the Canberra Hospital.

“To our knowledge, this is also the first case to involve the brain of any mammalian species, human or otherwise,” said Senanayake, who is also a professor at Australian National University.

Your Gut Bacteria Need To Eat — Nourish Them With These Prebiotic Foods

We’re going to dive into what you need to know about prebiotics and the foods that contain the highest amount of these beneficial fibers.

What are prebiotics?

Prebiotics refer to a specific type of fiber that only beneficial microorganisms in the gut (like bacteria and yeasts) are able to ferment or feed on. That’s right, bacteria species that are deemed problematic to health aren’t able to join in on the feast.

Therefore, prebiotics help improve the balance of good to bad bacteria1, contributing to a healthier gut microbiome as a whole.

What’s more, is that the fermentation process2 also produces nutrients like short-chain fatty acids or SCFAs (including butyrate) that help strengthen the gut lining3 and enhance immunity.

So how do prebiotics differ from probiotics then? Probiotics are the beneficial live organisms in your gut (or ingested through fermented foods or supplements) and prebiotics act as the fertilizer that nourishes them.

Foods high in prebiotics

Now, not all fibrous foods are prebiotics. Only certain foods contain types of fiber that research shows meet the criteria outlined above. And most of the time, prebiotic fibers are also soluble fibers (meaning they swell and form a gel-like substance in the gut).

Prebiotics should be on the menu for everyone. But the foods that have the most prebiotics may surprise you—and may be lacking from your plate.

1.Chicory root

Chicory root is a woody, hardy herb. The prebiotic fiber inulin comprises an impressive 68% of the fiber4 from fresh chicory root.

Research shows that consumption of inulin is linked to improved digestion and bowel movements5 and supports healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

2.Cluster (guar) beans

Cluster, or guar, beans are a legume primarily grown in India and Pakistan, and they look pretty similar to green beans.

There are about five grams of fiber (called guar fiber or guar bean fiber) in a one-cup serving that’s concentrated in the beans.

Guar fiber can be extracted from these plants and has been extensively studied as a dietary supplement. Studies show that this fiber can help improve regularity6, promote SCFA production7 (more so than other prebiotic fibers), support healthy cholesterol levels8, and improve appetite control and satiety9.*

3.Dandelion greens

Yes, dandelions are edible and the greens are packed with vitamins (A, C, E, and K), calcium, iron, magnesium, and prebiotic fiber.

Like chicory root, the fiber in dandelion greens is mainly inulin. What’s interesting though is that the fiber content of the plant may vary by season. Some data indicate inulin may be much lower during spring10 than the fall.

4.Chia seeds

Although tiny, chia seeds are bursting with fiber. In fact, the fiber content of chia seeds outdoes that of cereals, dried fruits, and nuts. There are four grams of fiber in one tablespoon11 (compared to four grams in ½ cup of dried oats12).

Dry chia seeds are small, hard, and round. But when they’re soaked in a liquid, they produce a transparent gel full of soluble fiber. This chia mucilage (more appetizing than it sounds) can help spur the growth of good bacteria13 in the gut and may even help the absorption of minerals like zinc and iron.

5.Garlic

Garlic offers a type of prebiotic fiber called fructooligosaccharides, accounting for 75% of its dry weight.

Studies show that fiber from garlic exerts beneficial effects by stimulating the growth of beneficial Bifidobacterium bacteria14 and inhibiting the growth of the less desirable Clostridia species.

6.Oats

Oats are maybe the most thought of fibrous food. In a ½ cup serving of dry oats, they provide around two grams of prebiotic soluble fiber from beta-glucans

Beta-glucans are particularly beneficial for helping with cholesterol levels15, and they also feed the good bacteria in your gut and help balance your microbiome16

7.Jerusalem artichoke

Also called sunchokes, Jerusalem artichokes17 are root vegetables (from a sunflower-looking plant) that are another natural source of inulin.

Try roasting them in the oven with avocado oil, salt, and pepper in place of potatoes to mix things up.

Study shows “immune resilience” may be key to longevity

Did you know your body’s immune system maintains a detailed record of every germ it has overcome?  The purpose of such a record is to help the immune system identify and eliminate similar germs if they re-emerge.

A recent study shows the resilience of the human body’s immune system that has the potential to enhance lifespan.  Regardless of age, immune resilience dictates whether individuals have highly effective immune system functionality that decreases inflammation.

Multinational study unveils secret to a longer, healthier life

Investigating the profound link between immune system resilience, human health, and longevity has taken center stage in a recent study.  Collaborating across borders, University of Texas San Antonio Health Science Center researchers teamed up with counterparts from five nations.  This collaborative effort has shed light on the variability of immune resilience – our capacity to fend off infections and recover from inflammatory stress.

A novel metric was crafted to gauge the robustness of the immune system, delving into its ability to respond effectively to challenges.  The results, now unveiled, showcase an intriguing phenomenon.  While age undoubtedly plays a role in shaping our immune responses, the study reveals a surprising twist: certain individuals manage to sustain or rejuvenate their immune resilience, regardless of age.

How immune resilience impacts lifespan and health

Featured in Nature Communications, this study utilized laboratory assessments to evaluate the immune resilience of a diverse group of 50,000 participants across different age brackets.  These evaluations covered a broad spectrum of potential risks.  Remarkably, individuals demonstrating optimal immune resilience emerged as distinct, benefiting from advantages like extended lifespans, protection against HIV/AIDS, resistance to influenza, prevention of skin cancer recurrence, and many other positive health outcomes.

Amidst the findings, women emerged as champions of immune resilience, displaying heightened robustness compared to men.  Moreover, even after controlling for the factors of age and sex, individuals with optimal immune resilience continued to demonstrate extended lifespans, defined by genetic expression markers.

The study is considered a trailblazer in that it delves into the novel concept referred to as immune resilience, examining the delicate balance between inflammation and immunocompetence regarding health outcomes.  The study may pave the path toward developing new treatment modalities to help combat chronic diseases ranging from cancer to HIV/AIDS, heart disease, and more.

Optimize your immune health with these science-backed strategies

While your genetic makeup is fixed, there are proactive steps you can take to strengthen your immune system’s resilience through your diet and lifestyle choices.  By adopting a balanced and mindful approach, you can enhance your body’s ability to manage inflammation and promote overall well-being.  Here are some scientifically-backed tips to boost your immune function:

  • Prioritize nutrient-rich foods:  Include a variety of organic, nutrient-dense foods in your diet.  Focus on colorful fruits and vegetables such as berries, citrus fruits, leafy greens, and bell peppers.  These foods are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support your immune system.
  • Incorporate lean proteins:  Include lean sources of protein like pasture-raised poultry, wild-caught fish, organic beans and non-GMO soy products like tofu and miso.  Protein plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of immune cells and antibodies.
  • Choose healthy fats:  Opt for sources of healthy fats such as organic avocados, nuts, seeds, and extra virgin olive oil.  These fats provide anti-inflammatory benefits and support immune cell function.
  • Include probiotic-rich foods:  Fermented foods like organic yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi contain beneficial probiotics that contribute to a healthy gut microbiome, which is closely linked to immune function.
  • Stay hydrated:  Proper hydration is essential for maintaining the function of immune cells and promoting overall health.  Drink clean water throughout the day and include herbal teas for added hydration.
  • Prioritize sleep:  Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.  Most importantly, sleep between the hours of 10 pm and 2 am is essential for immune system repair and function.
  • Manage stress:  Chronic stress can weaken the immune system – practice stress-reduction techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, yoga, or spending time in nature.
  • Stay active:  Engage in regular physical activity to support immune function and overall health.  Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.
  • Limit added sugars:  Excess sugar consumption can suppress immune system activity.  Choose organic whole foods over sugary snacks and beverages.
  • And, last but certainly not least, correct any oral health problems such as, removing mercury-based silver fillings, eliminating the threat of gum disease and infected root canal treated teeth.  All of this can put a tremendous stress on the immune system.

Adopting these tips into your lifestyle can empower your immune system to function optimally and contribute to your overall vitality and well-being.  Remember, small changes can make a significant difference in your immune health over time.

Lack of Sleep Can Cancel the Benefits of Exercise

Sleep and exercise impact cognitive performance and decline. However, data suggest that higher-intensity physical activity is not enough to mitigate the rapid cognitive decline that is associated with insufficient sleep

A suboptimal number of sleep hours can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, anxiety, depression, weakened immune system, migraine headaches, poor athletic performance, loss of bone mass, visible signs of aging, traffic accidents, poor decision-making and more

One study found the financial cost of insufficient sleep and sleep deprivation is 2% of a country’s gross domestic product (GDP), which for the U.S. is $411 billion. This could nearly double the education budget or pay half the deficit for health care

Light and darkness significantly affect your sleep-wake cycles. The suprachiasmatic nuclei in your brain synchronize the circadian clock and are affected by light and dark. Wearing a sleep mask may lower your heart rate and improve your morning insulin sensitivity

Nutrient deficiencies can also impact sleep quality and quantity, including vitamins B12, C and D. Vitamins B12 and D work in concert to improve your gut microbiome where most B vitamins are produced

CDC Responds to Mask Mandate Claims

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has responded to speculation that the agency could be bringing back mask mandates on public transportation or in federal officials.

A spokesperson for the CDC told The Epoch Times on Aug. 29 that COVID-19 hospital admission levels “are currently low for more than 96 percent” of the United States, but that the agency recommended that transportation workers, travelers, passengers, and others get the COVID-19 vaccine “before they travel.”

“Anyone may choose to wear a mask in crowded or poorly ventilated indoor areas, including on public transportation and in transportation hubs at any time,” the CDC spokesperson said.

The agency also doesn’t currently have any mandate in effect, and the “CDC’s advice for individual and community actions around COVID-19 are tied to hospital admission levels,” the spokesperson said.

Earlier this week, a CDC spokesperson told NBC News that there have been no agency discussions about bringing back mask mandates, which comes as a handful of hospitals and offices around the country started reimposing them this month. There has also been speculation that federal officials may bring back mandates or even push for lockdowns, similar to what happened in 2020.

A preprint paper showing ivermectin’s effectiveness against COVID-19 in Peru convinced a group of doctors that widespread ivermectin distribution could end the pandemic in October 2020  Because the paper wasn’t yet peer-reviewed, it was brushed off; ivermectin for COVID-19 was vilified, as were those who dared to prescribe it  Now, the study has been peer-reviewed and published in Cureus, vindicating ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19  Not only did ivermectin work against COVID-19, it was remarkably effective, resulting in a 74% reduction in excess deaths in the 10 Peru states where it was used most intensively  There was a 14-fold reduction in nationwide excess deaths when ivermectin was readily available and then a 13-fold increase in excess deaths in the two months after ivermectin use was restricted

Studies have discovered that jicama contains anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating compounds

Jicama is rich in inulin fiber, which acts as a prebiotic, helping boost good bacteria in the gut while simultaneously inhibiting pathogenic strains

When feeding jicama to pets, only feed the white flesh of the tuber. Other parts of the plant contain rotenone, a naturally occurring insecticide, so they must be discarded

Spritz Your Pet With This Kitchen Staple Today to Avoid Fleas

No one I know likes fleas. But that doesn’t mean you need to douse your pet – and by extension, yourself and your children – with chemicals. Just grab this from your kitchen cabinet, mix with water and spritz it on your pet before heading outside. Fleas hate the smell and taste.

Apple cider vinegar can be used as a natural flea repellent

While it doesn’t kill fleas, it may repel them because fleas dislike its smell and taste

Make a solution out of equal parts apple cider vinegar and water; add the mixture to a spray bottle and spritz it on your pet before he heads outdoors

To “supercharge” this spray and make it even more distasteful to fleas, add in a few drops of essential oil such as geranium, lemongrass, lavender, neem or catnip oil
