‘It’s like martial law’ – Poland’s pro-EU government seizes public news channels with massive police raid

“This is the most brutal taking of power ever in the EU, with the government using force, assaulting MPs and shutting down media they do not like”

Poland’s public television news stations went off the air yesterday as police conducted massive raids to seize public news station TVP, with fears becoming realized that Prime Minister Donald Tusk would move quickly to crack down on press freedoms once he assumed power.

A group of senior Law and Justice (PiS) politicians, including party leader Jarosław Kaczyński and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, arrived at the headquarters of state-run TV broadcaster TVP on Wednesday afternoon as the new pro-EU government moved to seize control of state-run press in dramatic authoritarian fashion.

Israel blows up ‘subterranean terror city’ in Gaza where Oct. 7 attack was plotted

Israel has apparently destroyed the underground tunnel network that was used by Hamas to plot the surprise attack on October 7. The Jewish state has characterized the underground system as a “subterranean terror city,” according to the Telegraph.

The terrorist network was discovered underneath Palestine Square by the IDF. The network reportedly contained a number of long tunnels that attached hiding places and offices of Hamas leaders. The development comes after Israel had considered flooding the underground tunnels, making them unusable in the future.

The IDF released footage on Thursday, revealing a number of explosions that ultimately destroyed the underground network. Earlier in the week, Israel confirmed that it had gained control of Hamas’ innermost quarter in Gaza City, where many of the top officials operated.

Netanyahu Vows Not to Let Up in War Against Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to keep up the fight against Hamas terrorists.

Mr. Netanyahu visited Israeli troops in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday.

“We are not stopping. The war will continue until the end, until we finish it, no less,” Mr. Netanyahu said during the Gaza visit.

Iran Threatens to Close Mediterranean Sea Alleging U.S. Gaza ‘Crimes’

The Mediterranean Sea could be “closed” indefinitely by Iran if the U.S. and Israel continued “crimes” in Gaza, an Iranian state report Saturday warned.

According to Reuters, no exact disclosure was made of exactly how Tehran would seal off the expansive waterway.

In the past Iran has sent armed ski boats out on patrol into contested waters, however the results have been mixed with the U.S. Navy in particular simply ignoring its Iranian counterparts and their threats of impending doom.

US Strikes Back in Iraq After 3 Troops Injured in Multiple Attacks

Earlier on Monday, a one-way drone targeted a U.S. base in Iraq, where American forces are stationed, leaving one U.S. soldier in critical condition.

U.S. military forces executed strikes on three facilities used by Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq on Monday in response to multiple attacks against coalition forces in Iraq and Syria that injured three U.S. troops.

Under the command of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the U.S. military airstrikes targeted facilities used by Kataib Hezbollah and its affiliated groups in Iraq at 8:45 p.m. EST on Dec. 25.

Earlier in the day, a one-way drone targeted a U.S. base in Erbil, Iraq, where American forces are stationed, resulting in injuries among U.S. personnel, according to the White House National Security Council (NSC).

White House attempts to counter Houthi attacks in the Red Sea aren’t going well

The Biden White House is facing fresh criticism after their attempts to contain the growing menace of the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea have largely fallen flat, imperiling global shipping lanes and endangering an already precarious economic position in the United States.

The Houthis, a rebel group in Yemen who are largely funded by the fundamentalist Iranian government, have been terrorizing shipping lanes in the vital Red Sea by launching more than 100 drone and missile attacks against civilian transport ships, in clear violation of international law. The situation has become so dire that even petroleum giant BP has indicated that it will cease shipping operations in the area until the threat is brought under control. The Houthis have promised to keep up their terror campaign until the Israel-Gaza conflict is ended.

The Iranian government has implausibly denied involvement in the attacks.

4 Types of Cheese Recalled After Possible E. Coli Contamination

The Food Standards Agency announced the recall on Christmas Eve.

Four types of cheese have been “precautionarily” recalled due to a possible E. coli contamination ahead of Christmas Day.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall for Mrs Kirkham’s Mild and Creamy Lancashire, Mrs Kirkham’s Tasty Lancashire, Mrs Kirkham’s Mature Lancashire and Mrs Kirkham’s Smoked Lancashire on Christmas Eve.

The FSA said: “The products listed above might be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, (STEC).

“Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea.

“However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.”

The FSA said people who have purchased the product should store it safely, fully wrapped and ensure it is not in contact with other foods.

TikTok insiders slam alleged bias against pro-Israel posts claim company: ‘serve Hamas’ narrative’

TiKTok denies the allegations as ‘false’ and claims they do not reflect its policies

A few weeks after thousands of Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel on October 7, murdering 1,200 people and brutally kidnapping some 240 individuals, including more than 30 children, the devastated families of those held hostage in the Gaza Strip launched a global campaign demanding their release.

With assistance from marketing and advertising professionals, the newly created Hostages and Missing Persons Forum in Israel turned to powerful social media platforms used by billions of people worldwide and asked to place paid advertisements to raise awareness of their plight.

Mostly short video clips depicting the lives of ordinary civilians and children held captive by a U.S.-designated terror organization, multiple ads were placed on Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram, but the Chinese-owned video-sharing app, TikTok, refused to accept any of them, deeming them “too political.”

Border Patrol encountered 17 people on terror watch list at southern border in November

The Terrorist Screening Dataset is the database for terrorist identities and affiliates

There were 17 encounters of people between ports of entry at the southern border on the FBI’s terror watch list in November, according to data released Friday by Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

It brings the total of people encountered by the Border Patrol between ports of entry on the watch list to 30 for FY 24, which began in October.

The watch list, now officially called the Terrorist Screening Dataset, is the U.S. database that contains information on terrorist identities and includes not only known or suspected terrorists but also affiliates of watch-listed individuals.

All things Trump …

Federal Judge Rejects Lawsuit to Remove Trump From Ballot in Another State

A federal judge in West Virginia rejected a bid Thursday to remove former President Donald Trump from the state’s ballot, rebuffing a bid from a little-known presidential candidate to remove the former president.

District Judge Irene Berger ruled that John Anthony Castro, the candidate who filed a lawsuit against President Trump, lacked the standing to sue. She sided with attorneys for President Trump, Secretary of State Mac Warner, and the West Virginia GOP to dismiss Mr. Castro’s suit.

U.S. District Judge Irene Berger wrote that the evidence that Mr. Castro had submitted removes “any doubt that Mr. Castro’s purported ‘campaign’ exists as a vehicle for pursuing litigation, not votes,” adding that he could not prove any political activity in the state aside from the lawsuit that he filed.

Supreme Court Declines to Fast-Track Special Counsel Petition, Handing Trump a Win

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected on Friday a petition by special counsel Jack Smith for an immediate review of a defense in one of two cases he is prosecuting against former President Donald Trump.

“Petition for a writ of certiorari before judgment denied,” the unsigned order reads.

A 1982 Supreme Court opinion had established absolute immunity for presidents from civil suits, but as both parties have argued, the bounds of immunity from criminal prosecution have not been defined.

Supreme Court declines to fast-track Trump immunity dispute in blow to special counsel

The Supreme Court on Friday declined for now to take up a landmark case over whether former President Donald Trump is absolutely immune from prosecution for alleged crimes committed while he was in office, a move that allows the appeals process to play out first.

The court issued a one-line, unsigned order denying the request from special counsel Jack Smith: “The petition for a writ of certiorari before judgment is denied.” There were no noted dissents.

The Supreme Court’s decision Friday is a blow to Smith and his team of prosecutors, who have pushed the courts to move quickly to hold trials in the Washington case and the second prosecution in Florida before the presidential election swings into full gear. Trump’s attorneys, meanwhile, have urged the courts to delay the trials until after the election.

The special counsel’s office declined to comment on the court’s decision.

“The Supreme Court has unanimously rejected Deranged Jack Smith’s desperate attempt to short circuit our Great Constitution,” Trump wrote in a post to his Truth Social platform Friday afternoon. “Crooked Joe Biden and his henchmen waited three years to bring this sham case, and now they have tried and failed to rush this Witch Hunt through the courts. Of course I am entitled to Presidential Immunity.

Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Appointment Is Unconstitutional

Everything he has done since Nov. 2022 is null and void.

Since 1999, when the Independent Counsel provisions of the Ethics in Government Act expired, the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) has had in place regulations providing for the appointment of private citizens as Special Counsels who possess “the full power and independent authority to exercise all investigative and prosecutorial functions of any United States Attorney.” Unlike a U.S. Attorney, however, private citizen Jack Smith has not been nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate for the particular office of Special Counsel, which he now holds.  This is blatantly unconstitutional and renders Jack Smith powerless to seek a writ of certiorari before judgment from the Supreme Court, as he is trying to do at the moment.

Appointments under these regulations, such as the May 17, 2017 appointment of Robert S. Mueller to investigate the Trump campaign, were patently unlawful, for reasons set forth in great detail in: Steven G. Calabresi & Gary Lawson, Why Robert Mueller’s Appointment is Unlawful, 95 Notre Dame Law Review 87 (2019).  The same argument renders the appointment of private citizen Jack Smith to prosecute Donald Trump right now unconstitutional.  Private citizen Jack Smith, under the regulation, has all of the power of a U.S. Attorney, and also nationwide jurisdiction, but he was never nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate for the particular office of Special Counsel, which he now holds, in the way that U.S. Attorneys are nominated and confirmed for their particular offices.  This is blatantly unconstitutional. It is imperative that the Supreme Court rule on this question right now.  I have co-written and co-signed an amicus brief with former Attorney General Ed Meese and Professor Gary Lawson, which was filed in the Supreme Court today in United States v. Trump, which is a petition for certiorari before judgment filed by private citizen Jack Smith purporting to speak for the government of the United States, and which is currently before the Supreme Court, and which makes the argument that Jack Smith’s appointment was unconstitutional.

Trump Calls Biden an ‘Insurrectionist’ After Colorado Ballot Ban

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday denied being an “insurrectionist” while labeling President Joe Biden as one, while citing as proof factors like the “open” border and accusing the president of “destroying” America with radical anti-fossil fuel policies.

“I’m not an insurrectionist (‘PEACEFULLY & PATRIOTICALLY’), Crooked Joe Biden is,” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social, with the words “peacefully & patriotically” in reference to a fragment of his Jan. 6 speech in which he told members of the crowd to head to the Capitol building “to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the former president’s claim.

Trump Lodges Appeal Citing Presidential Immunity for 2020 Election Case

As ordered by the court, former President Donald Trump and his lawyers have filed their opening brief with a District of Columbia appeals court, asking the court to toss the DOJ’s case accusing him of plotting to overturn the 2020 election on grounds of presidential immunity.

The U.S. District Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit previously agreed to expedite the hotly contested case, giving appellants until Dec. 23 to file their opening arguments for the appeal.

The filing comes after the U.S. Supreme Court on Dec. 22 decided not to fast-track the DOJ’s case against the former president as DOJ special counsel Jack Smith sought to adhere to a March 4 trial deadline. The defense objected to any need to fast-track due process in the appeals court, arguing that the special counsel request was only necessary for timing his rival President Joe Biden’s political messaging against President Trump ahead of the Super Tuesday primary elections.

House Judiciary Seeks Documents From Jack Smith Over Trump Cases

‘Based on publicly available information, the Committee has significant concerns about your commitment to evenhanded justice.’

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and House Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance Chairman Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) have demanded documents from special counsel Jack Smith seeking information about his investigation of former President Donald Trump, and threatening a subpoena if the Department of Justice (DOJ) continues to ignore similar requests they submitted earlier this year.

“Based on publicly available information, the Committee has significant concerns about your commitment to evenhanded justice,” the House Republicans wrote on Thursday in a letter to the special counsel.

Mr. Jordan and Mr. Biggs are asking for documents, including communications between the special counsel and the U.S. Attorney General’s office regarding investigating and prosecuting President Trump, salaries and travel costs incurred by special counsel staff working on the Trump case, and hiring criteria for the team.

Michigan, Nevada Shift Toward GOP As Biden’s Approval Rating Slides: Cook Political Report

‘It’s clear that President Joe Biden’s standing has diminished, even as opinions of former President Donald Trump haven’t improved,’ the report says.

The states of Michigan and Nevada have shifted support toward Republicans as President Joe Biden’s polling numbers continue to slide, according to a new analysis from the Cook Political Report (CPR).

“It’s clear that President Joe Biden’s standing has diminished, even as opinions of former President Donald Trump haven’t improved from where they were in 2020,” says the report, which was published on Dec. 19.

In July, President Biden’s job approval rating was an “unimpressive” 41 percent favorable to 53 percent unfavorable, the report notes.

Will Trump’s Attorney’s Stop the Second Steal in Nov. 2024?

Commentary by By Devvy Kidd – “I think that if Biden was on a gurney and couldn’t move anything but his eyes to blink ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ he’s our person.” Conspiracy theorist, actor Robert DeNiro.

Americans paying attention to the zeitgeist of dirty political shenanigans currently underway to keep a presidential candidate off the ballot are beyond angry.  As should all fair-minded Americans.

The shadow government who owns Washington District of Criminals are backed into a corner as their plans to destroy Donald Trump with bogus lawsuits has backfired in their evil faces.  Conspiracy theorist, Jack Smith, appointed by low intelligent illegitimate U.S. Attorney General, Merrick Garland is a major player in this grotesque game and he’s in trouble.

Denver Police Investigating ‘Hoax’ Threat to Colorado Justices After Trump Ruling; FBI ‘Aware’

Local and federal law enforcement are investigating a “hoax report” of threats made against Colorado Supreme Court justices who recently ruled that former President Donald Trump cannot appear on the state’s primary ballots in the 2024 presidential election.

The Denver Police Department said law enforcement responded to a justice’s residence on Dec. 21 in the evening “on what appears to be a hoax report.”

“Everything checked clear and we are continuing to investigate this report. Due to security and privacy considerations and the ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide any additional information at this time,” Denver police said in a statement, reported CNN.

Denver police had reportedly provided “extra patrols around justice’s residences,” reported Axios.

A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) spokesperson said the bureau was “aware of the situation and working with local law enforcement.”

“We will vigorously pursue investigations of any threat or use of violence committed by someone who uses extremist views to justify their actions, regardless of motivation,” the FBI spokesperson said in a statement.

The Epoch Times contacted the FBI, Denver PD, and the Colorado Judicial Branch for further comment.

United Airlines sued after first-class passenger served 9 vodka drinks, allegedly sexually assaults woman

A United Airlines passenger who was sitting in first-class has apparently filed a lawsuit after she was sexually assaulted by a passenger who had one too many drinks.

The crew on the flight allegedly served the man in question at least nine vodka and orange juice beverages, according to the lawsuit obtained by the New York Post. The alleged incident took place on October 2 of last year, and the lawsuit was filed in a Colorado court on Wednesday.

The 51-year-old female victim — who has not been named — was apparently seated in 1A, which was right next to the alleged perpetrator, who has also not been identified. During the first half-hour of the flight, the report noted that the two had a “pleasant conversation.”

The complaint went on to say that “[h]owever, once in-flight, the Assailant requested drink after drink,” primarily vodka and orange juice. The constant request for more drinks “caused United’s flight attendant to grow frustrated” with the situation.

Iowa, Nebraska won’t participate in U.S. food assistance program for kids this summer

Iowa will not participate this summer in a federal program that gives $40 per month to each child in a low-income family to help with food costs while school is out, state officials have announced.

The state has notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture that it will not participate in the 2024 Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer for Children — or Summer EBT — program, the state’s Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Education said in a Friday news release.

“Federal COVID-era cash benefit programs are not sustainable and don’t provide long-term solutions for the issues impacting children and families. An EBT card does nothing to promote nutrition at a time when childhood obesity has become an epidemic,” Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds said in the news release.

Honey Unleashed: Powerful Methods for Cough Relief and 16 Ways to Boost Your Health

The fifth-generation successor of an esteemed Taiwanese TCM business shares effective methods of using honey for cough relief.

As winter approaches and the weather becomes increasingly dry, the spread of various respiratory viruses and Mycoplasma pneumonia increases the number of people suffering from coughs. In this article, Zhang Weijun, the fifth-generation successor of the esteemed Taiwanese traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) family business Huai Sheng Tang, shares effective methods of using honey for cough relief and introduces 16 therapeutic ways to incorporate honey into your diet.

According to the earliest existing Chinese pharmacological work, “Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing,” honey is documented to regulate internal organ issues, provide energy, detoxify, and alleviate pain. Additionally, it can promote sharp senses and contribute to overall health and longevity.

Honey has been used for thousands of years in China to treat coughs. According to Mr. Zhang, a cold often begins with intense coughing. As the acute phase passes, it becomes easier to expel phlegm, leading to recovery. Some individuals may linger in the dry cough stage. At this point, the soothing properties of honey can help moisturize the lungs and protect the mucous membranes, alleviating cough symptoms. Furthermore, honey possesses antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Beware of not only false positives, but DNA gathering and potential mRNA infection! FDA Approves the First Test to Identify Risk of Opioid Addiction

The AvertD test uses a cheek swab to identify markers of potential opioid addiction.

Can a test determine if you’re at risk for opioid addiction? The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) thinks so.

That’s why the agency approved the use of the AvertD test on Tuesday, a first-of-its-kind test that assesses the risk someone carries of developing opioid use disorder.

The AvertD test is available by prescription only for people 18 and older. It is administered by a physician or other health care provider as a way to determine if a patient who may be prescribed opioids for acute pain management is at risk of becoming addicted to the pain pills. Acute pain management, such as a prescription given after a planned surgery, typically lasts four to 30 days. The test is not intended for patients being treated for chronic pain, the FDA said in its press release.

Cannabis Can Alter DNA: Study

The use of cannabis can lead to changes in DNA that can cause genetic mutations and subsequent serious diseases, according to a new study.

Cannabis—also known as marijuana—is one of the most commonly used drugs in the United States. Its use has increased significantly in recent years, with a recent survey showing 42.3 million people used it in the past month.

The increased use of marijuana has some experts concerned.

The study, published in Molecular Psychiatry, analyzed data from about 9,500 participants from different groups, including parents and children, twins, and older adults.

Researchers assessed DNA methylation, an indicator of potential health outcomes due to how genes are expressed. The genome study analyses were evaluated according to the different genetic groups and adjusted according to age, gender, cigarette smoking, and blood type.

Researchers found that five genes with DNA methylation had sites associated with the use of cannabis, with significant roles in human health conditions. This included one gene (LINC01132) linked to liver cancer and ovarian cancer. A previous study, however, showed a lower incidence of liver cancer among cannabis users.

Researchers also found that chemicals in cannabis, including the active ingredient THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), alter the user’s DNA, which can cause gene mutations that can increase the risks of diseases.

A hot bath? It appears therapeutic in more ways than one!

Hot Bath to Lower Blood Sugar?

A study from the UK published in October 2018 found that soaking in a hot bath for an hour lowered blood sugar levels and limited inflammation in 10 sedentary, overweight men who were unable to exercise. The soaking also promoted release of a substance that lowers blood pressure. The researchers, at Loughborough University, compared these changes to those in eight sedentary men of similar size who acted as controls and rested instead of sitting in a bath.

The water temperature of the bath was 102 F, and the men were immersed up to the neck. Throughout the hour the researchers checked the men’s heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature every 15 minutes and took blood samples before and after the bath (and did the same for the controls).

The Broad-Spectrum Antiviral Effects of Willow Bark Extract

Willow bark, aspirin’s forerunner, has powerful antiviral effects against coronaviruses and enteroviruses.

Willow bark is perhaps most widely known as aspirin’s forerunner, but it appears to have powerful antiviral effects1 as well. Willow bark contains salicylates, including salicylic acid — the acetylated form of which is now the active ingredient in aspirin — and its derivative salicin. But willow bark deserves accolades even apart from this contribution.

Used for medicinal purposes for more than 3,500 years,2 willow bark was revered in ancient Egypt, South America, Greece and China. Hippocrates used willow bark for pain and inflammation in the 4th century B.C., while the ancient Egyptians relied on willow bark as a painkiller and antipyretic, or fever reducer.

1763 marked the year the first clinical study involving willow bark was performed, which confirmed its effectiveness as an antipyretic. To this day, much of the research surrounding this natural compound centers on its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects, but willow bark’s antiviral effects are receiving increasing attention.

Drone Warfare Evolved Rapidly on Ukraine and Gaza Battlefields In 2023

2023 was a landmark year for drone warfare as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) became increasingly widespread among combatants of every size and ideology.

It was also a major year for anti-drone defenses, which have evolved to the point where drones are no longer the seemingly unstoppable phantom menaces they were a few years ago.

One of the most spectacular examples of anti-drone warfare came near the end of the year, as the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Carney engaged and destroyed a swarm of 14 drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorists of Yemen.

The battle, fought in the early morning hours of December 18 in the Red Sea, pitted the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer against what the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) described as “one-way attack drones.”

USS Carney destroyed all of the attacking UAVs without any damage to itself or other ships in the area. CENTCOM did not disclose extensive details about how the Carney detected and destroyed the Houthi drones or whether the Carney was the intended target of the swarm.

Chicago High Schooler, 14, Dies After Suffering Stroke During Swim Practice

A Chicago-area community is grieving the loss of a high school freshman who tragically died Sunday after he suffered a stroke during swim practice.

A swim coach for James Oliver, 14, who attended Geneva High School to the west of the city, said the teen collapsed at West Chicago High School on December 8, reports ABC7.

The Geneva principal sent home a memo to parents saying that Oliver had suffered from an arteriovenous malformation, or AVM stroke, and brain hemorrhaging. He was in critical condition until he died the night of December 17.

“As a school community, our thoughts are with his brother, Sean, a GHS junior, his family and friends, and our hearts are mourning this loss,” Principal Tom Rogers said.

AVM causes tangled blood vessels, which create issues between connected arteries and veins, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

A neurosurgeon with the local Northwestern Medicine healthcare system explained that Oliver’s condition was very rare and usually congenital.

“It’s thought that most AVMs are present from birth, and so we see a lot of AVMs either being diagnosed incidentally or being diagnosed because they bleed. We see a lot of that in children, and teenagers, and young adults,” Dr. Matthew Potts said.

“About half [of the] people diagnosed with AVM experience symptoms, while the other half don’t experience any symptoms until a rupture occurs,” he added.

The Illinois high school boys’ swimming season began on November 20, just before the freshman passed away.

Nick Carter’s Sister, Bobbie Jean Carter, Dies Suddenly at 41

Bobbie Jean Carter, the sister of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, died unexpectedly on Dec. 23 in Florida, her family confirmed.

Ms. Carter’s cause of death is not yet known. She was 41.

Her mother, Jane Carter, issued a statement to entertainment tabloid TMZ.

“I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time. When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private,” she told the publication.

She added: “[H]owever deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater. So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight year old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother.”

CDC: New COVID-19 Variant Now Dominant Strain Across US

JN.1 is now the most ‘widely circulating’ variant in the United States, the CDC says.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a recent update that the new COVID-19 variant JN.1 is continuing to spread across the United States, having nearly doubled in the past two weeks or so.

The agency said on Dec. 22 that JN.1 is continuing “to cause an increasing share of infections and is now the most widely circulating variant in the United States,” adding that it’s now about 39 percent to 50 percent of all COVID-19 variants, whereas JN.1 amounted to about 15 percent to 29 percent two weeks ago.

“JN. 1’s continued growth suggests that the variant is either more transmissible or better at evading our immune systems than other circulating variants. It is too early to know whether or to what extent JN.1 will cause an increase in infections or hospitalizations,” the CDC said. “We’re also seeing an increasing share of infections caused by JN.1 in travelers, wastewater, and most regions around the globe,” it added.

US depopulation plan hits new milestone

‘Kids are expensive and sticky’: More women swap kids for careers according to plan

A decades-old plan to stifle population growth in the US has reached new milestones which suggest the program is a resounding success.

According to a Statista report last week, a quarter of US 40-year-olds have never been married, an historical high since data started being published in 1990. Most of these adults live alone, with only 22% saying they live with a partner. Nearly half (46%) of Black Americans say they are still single by 40, followed by Hispanics (27%), Whites (20%), and Asian Americans (17%).

Marriage avoidance is part of a depopulation plan designed over 50 years ago in the Jaffe Memo.

In 1969 an economist named Frederick Jaffe devised a set of proposals to limit US population growth which continue to be put into practice today. Jaffe, who at the time was vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, had created the plan at the request of Bernard Berelson.

Berelson was the head of the Population Council, an organization founded by John D. Rockefeller III in 1952 to stem birth rates in the United States. Until today the Population Council concerns itself with researching contraception and other ways to prevent births, such as the Copper T intrauterine device. Since then an estimated 50 million Copper Ts have been distributed in over 70 countries.

In 1969, Berelson was looking for ideas.

Jaffe rose to the occasion and responded with what would later become known as the Jaffe Memo. In it, Jaffe proposed a set of actions which he believed could suppress the US birth rate. He compiled them into a table titled “Proposed measures to reduce fertility by universality or selectivity of impact in the US.”

Some of those proposed measures were to “encourage increased homosexuality,” “allow harmless contraceptives to be distributed nonmedically,” to “make contraception truly available and accessible,” and to provide “abortion and sterilization on demand.”

Another measure was titled “Restructure family” and contained two parts: “(a) Postpone or avoid marriage,” and “(b) Alter image of ideal family size.”

These were listed alongside two of Jaffe’s other propositions, which were to drive women into higher education and to convince more women to join the workforce.

“[T]he relationship between employment of women and lower fertility seems well established,” wrote Jaffe. He said that full employment is accompanied by higher inflation, a sacrifice the US may need to make in order to depopulate. “How much inflation could or should we risk to achieve lower fertility?” he asked.

Today, getting more women to enter the workforce is a strategy tirelessly adopted by globalist bodies such as the United Nations and the World Economic Forum (WEF). The UN is known to encourage women’s participation in the labor force at nearly every opportunity, even turning it into a public health issue.

This, too, has become an unmistakable success. According to data from Pew Research, Millennial women are four times more likely than those in the Silent Generation to have a bachelor’s degree — and the more educated a woman becomes, the more likely she is to postpone having children or not have them at all.

Furthermore, around the time of the Jaffe Memo, only about 40% of women were employed. Today that number is 72% among Millennial women.

Gaetz Demands Transparency From Delta CEO After Viral Posts About Illegal Immigrants

Lawmakers have raised concerns about national security and an apparent two-tiered security standard that requires ID for citizens but not illegal immigrants.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) has raised national security concerns about Delta Air Lines’ role in transporting illegal immigrants from the U.S. southern border into the country’s interior without being “properly vetted.”

In a letter to Delta CEO Ed Bastion on Friday, Mr. Gaetz urged transparency regarding arrangements between the airline, federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) facilitating transportation.

“It has recently come to my attention that Delta Air Lines is transporting non-resident aliens from the southern border of the United States into the interior of the country,” Mr. Gaetz wrote. “The United States Congress has an interest in understanding pursuant to which arrangements with federal agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) non-resident aliens are able to book and travel on Delta Air Lines flights.”

Nasty fight breaks out between college football players after losing player sucker punches winning player during postgame celebrations

An ugly scene unfolded in Mobile on Saturday night after an Eastern Michigan player appeared to sucker punch a South Alabama player following South Alabama’s 59-10 victory in the 68 Ventures Bowl, sparking off an ugly on-field brawl.

South Alabama, which was playing on their home field, cruised to an easy victory in the game. They led 38-3 at halftime and were in command virtually from the opening kickoff. They outgained Eastern Michigan 627 yards to 150 in the game. It was South Alabama’s first ever bowl victory since they became an FBS school in 2012.

As coach Kane Wommack said, “A lot of work goes into a moment like this. It goes way beyond just our players this season. … We’ve had a great past, great moments in our present and certainly our best days are ahead of us and that’s really exciting. This is a great moment to build upon and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”

However, what most people are talking about today were the unsportsmanlike actions of an Eastern Michigan player after the game. As the South Alabama team lined up on the field facing the band and saluting their fans after a great season, an Eastern Michigan player ran up behind a South Alabama player, apparently unprovoked, and punched him in the back of the head.

WATCH: ‘Yoko Swifto’: Fans Mock Video of Taylor Swift Comforting Brittany Mahomes Amid Chiefs Downfall

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are probably too young to understand the Yoko One references they’re about to get bombarded with, but they’ll likely get caught up soon.

The Chiefs fell to the Raiders 20-14 on Christmas Day. A loss that guarantees Kansas City will not get the #1 seed in the AFC playoff race. As the reality of the loss sank in, sadness swept over the suite where cameras found Travis Kelce’s alleged girlfriend, Taylor Swift, comforting a visibly distressed Brittany Mahomes. The Chiefs are now 3-5 since Kelce and Swift allegedly began dating, and over that time, Kelce has caught only one touchdown.

Elon Musk’s ‘Grok’ AI Labels Its Creator a Pedophile

Elon Musk’s newly introduced AI chatbot, Grok, has created a stir by generating provocative and unfounded statements, raising concerns about the reliability and ethical boundaries of AI technology. In one startling example, the AI reportedly accused its own creator of being a pedophile.

Futurism reports that Elon Musk has recently launched Grok, an AI chatbot described as “anti-woke.” This AI has been at the center of a controversy due to its generation of unsubstantiated and bizarre claims about Musk himself, displaying the challenges faced by generative AI systems.

Grok, accessible through a premium subscription on X, formerly known as Twitter, has not been widely scrutinized, primarily due to its cost of $196 annually or $16 monthly. However, reporter Parker Molloy delved into Grok’s outputs, sharing provocative findings in a Bluesky thread. One of the most startling claims by Grok was the unfounded assertion that Musk is a pedophile, a claim with no evidence to support it.

The positive impacts of adopting — not buying — your next pet

Right now, the United States is facing a crisis of chock-full animal shelters, and Utah is no exception. In the U.S., “of the 4.6 million cats and dogs entering shelters in 2021, 3.8 million were saved,” according to Utah-founded Best Friends Animal Society.

“Adopting a pet is literally helping to save the life of a shelter animal,” Jami Johanson, development coordinator at Salt Lake County Animal Services, said in an interview with the Deseret News.

“Every single day I look at all our wonderful animals at Salt Lake County Animal Services and wonder how they ended up here and why their owners didn’t come back for them,” she said. “This is why it is so important for our community to help give these wonderful pets a second chance at finding a loving, forever home.”

Struggling Immigrant Cries Seeing His Family’s Only Car on Fire, Then a Kind American Steps In

If Americans choose to continue on the path of kindness, we can transform many lives because “love can conquer all bad things.”

A financially struggling man whose car caught fire in early December in Buffalo, New York, has been amazed by the compassion of a stranger and many other citizens who stepped in to help him.

Shukuru Mlondani, 25, was driving to school when he suddenly realized the front side of his car, a 2013 Honda Pilot, was on fire.

Just a few minutes after stopping and getting out, the front of the vehicle exploded. Distraught at losing the car that he and 10 family members—his parents, brothers, and sisters—depended on, Mr. Mlondani began crying and looked around desperately for help.

As the car continued to burn, a woman approached and called the police. A few moments later, Rory Allen, 47, another Good Samaritan, approached.

A graphic designer and owner of ZoomBuffalo, a design and print shop in Buffalo, Mr. Allen had been driving to his office when he noticed fire and smoke coming out of the car ahead of him. Pulling over, he saw the driver attempting to put out the rapidly growing blaze with his jacket. By the time Mr. Allen got to him, Mr. Mlondani was on his hands and knees, sobbing in the pouring rain.

“To most people, this wouldn’t be a normal reaction to their car; they’d be upset but maybe not as upset as he was,” Mr. Allen told The Epoch Times. “So, I decided to stay and try to help and console him.”

Police and fire trucks arrived to put out the fire, and while Mr. Mlondani sat in Mr. Allen’s car out of the rain, it quickly became clear that this was no ordinary situation.

A Congolese refugee, Mr. Mlondani is a young immigrant who’d arrived in the United States a year earlier with three of his brothers after escaping war in Congo through Tanzania. His parents and other siblings joined them in March 2023. They all relied on that one car for transportation to get to work and school and to shop for food.

The family had insurance, but their policy didn’t cover fire. Mr. Mlondani, a literacy student who works at a plastic factory in Orchard Park, felt bitterly shocked and upset.

“I realized why this was such a big deal to him,” Mr. Allen said, “because we live in a cold climate, and this family really relies on the car for work and to run errands, get food, those kinds of things. And he just felt like he was responsible for losing it.”

After helping Mr. Mlondani retrieve his belongings from the car, the kind businessman drove him to get his cell phone from his school, the original purpose of the trip since the student had mistakenly left it there. He then went to Mr. Mlondani’s home in East Buffalo to pick up family members, taking them to see the damaged car.

“When they saw the car, they were amazed I was still alive,” Mr. Mlondani told The Epoch Times.

Mr. Allen then got to work attempting to help the Mlondanis further, sharing a social media post about their plight. John Bair, Mr. Allen’s good friend and the founder of MilestoneSeventh, immediately offered a donation to allow the family to rent a car as a short-term solution. Next, Mr. Allen set up a fundraiser aimed at helping the Mlondanis purchase a new vehicle.

“John Bair wanted to step up and help out, and so he was the first one to sort of donate. He really, I think, got the awareness for this going with his generous act,” Mr. Allen said.

On Dec. 19, Mr. Allen shared a photo on Facebook announcing that the campaign had raised over $16,000 and the funds had been successfully transferred to Mr. Mlondani’s account.

“The people of Buffalo are generous beyond belief, and they get behind their neighbors,” Mr. Allen told The Epoch Times, adding that he and his contacts simply wanted to respond the same way they would toward people who have lived in the city their whole lives.

Mr. Mlondani, who works at a plastic factory 20 minutes drive from his home, has been astounded by the goodwill he and his family have received.

He said: “Words are not enough to express my gratitude for this act of kindness from Mr. Rory Allen, Mr. John Bair, and all people in Buffalo, for me and my family during this difficult winter.”

2 Men and Dog Fall Through Ice While Ice Fishing in MN—Then Deputy Braves Thin Ice, Saves Them

Two men and a dog in Minnesota fell through the ice while ice fishing earlier this month but were helped by an Anoka County Sheriff’s deputy, who selflessly braved crossing thin ice to perform a daring rescue.

On Dec. 3, at about 3:34 p.m., deputies and St. Francis Police officers arrived on the scene, located along Garnet St., north of Minneapolis, and found the men and pet stranded, having fallen through the ice.

A passerby who saw them struggling had managed to push a canoe out to keep them afloat while they awaited help. They had been immersed for an extended period and were hypothermic, as temperatures hovered just over freezing. The overly-thin ice and warmer temperatures were likely contributing factors in the incident.

After officers arrived, while they awaited marine rescuers, Deputy Chris Fjeld recognized the serious danger the men were in and took decisive action, placing his own life at risk.

Cooperating with officers ashore, he secured himself to a rope held by his colleagues on the dock and crawled out onto the thin ice to fetch the men and dog.

Video captured from a body camera on one of the officers ashore reveals the moment of the rescue as it unfolds.

VIDEO – ‘Given with Love’: NC Teen Donates Hundreds of Stuffed Toys to Neighbors Dealing with Loss

A young woman in Clayton, North Carolina, is comforting her neighbors who need a friend in a special way this Christmas season.

Sophia Sullivan is a 15-year-old with a huge heart who has been preparing hundreds of stuffed animals and special notes to give to children, local charities, and local police departments, WNCN reported Wednesday.

No matter the gift, as long as it’s given with love, it means something,” the tender-hearted teen said.

She and her mother recently drove to Durham, Wake Forest, and North Raleigh to visit seniors who may have been feeling lonely this time of year.

For quite some time, Sophia has been working to collect and deliver the stuffed toys that were initially meant to comfort children who were experiencing grief.

“Stuffed animals have long given comfort to children when they need it, and in the case of a loss a stuffed animal can provide much needed soothing to a child in need,” according to the Moms.com website.

Sophia knows what that kind of pain feels like and wants to help others going through it because someone else gave her a similar gift when she lost her beloved father to suicide a few years ago.

According to the Nemours Teens Health website, “It takes time to cope with your loss and find ways to adapt. Comfort and support from others can help as you go through grief.”

The teenager’s project is called In Loss, Love On, and readers can view the website by clicking here.

Her mother, MaryJo Birschbach said her generous daughter has collected approximately 2,000 stuffed animals in one year thanks to help from the community.

She said, “It’s always emotional. To see your child grow in such a way and find a passion is really a profound experience, I’m just lucky she takes me along for the ride.”

“I think just having the opportunity to have that time is precious, the stuffed animal provides comfort, people need people,” Birschbach concluded.

A social media user who commented on the story about the kind young woman said she is “not your every day teen!”

He Was the Only Kid in Class Without a Cell Phone, Years Later He Thanks His Parents

“We can’t expect our kids to think or act like an adult when we hand them over a cell phone, with untethered access to everything.”

A ninth grader who has been without a cell phone since the fourth grade is now thanking his parents, after five years of freedom from screens and the dangers of untethered access to the internet.

Kaylee Low, a former registered nurse and full-time mom, and her husband, Mike Low, a lawyer, have been married for 18 years and have four children together, two sons and two daughters. The family lives in Alberta, Canada.

When their oldest son, now aged 14, started asking for a cell phone back in the fourth grade, they both said no.

Not the Right Time

“He was really noticing his peers getting smartphones,” Mrs. Low told The Epoch Times. “But due to the experiences of people that we knew, we weren’t naïve to the fact that a cell phone would increase the risk of exposure to pornography, and other risks, and so we just kind of had this gut feeling that it wasn’t the right timing.”

All the while, the couple educated themselves about the effects of cell phones on children and teens. As they learned more about the effects on mental health and the developing brain, the couple became “more conscious” about introducing the technology to their kids—slowly in stages, or at an appropriate age. It became a hot topic of family conversation.

“We’d often, and still do, talk about what he felt he needed a phone for. How would it be a tool that he needs to use,” Mrs. Low said. “As we go through, logistically, the way our life looks and the way our schedule works, we’d come back around to the conclusion, together as a family, that it wasn’t time yet.

2023 National Gingerbread House Competition Showcases Jaw-Dropping, Meticulously Crafted Creations

The winners of the country’s largest gingerbread competition have been announced, and their handiwork must be seen to be believed.

Held at Omni Grove Park Inn, a historic Asheville, North Carolina, property, the 31st Annual National Gingerbread Competition concluded on Nov. 20. Judges assessed 200 entries from over 22 states, plus one from Guatemala, with entries from the adult, teen, and youth categories, all competing for a chance to win $40,000 in cash and prizes.

First place was awarded to an aunt and niece duo from North Carolina, Difficult Dessert Devotees, for their gingerbread house rendering of a traditional home of the Torajan people of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, named “Christmas at the Tongkonan.” It was the duo’s third year competing and their very first win.

‘How Did That Happen?’: Family Demands Answers After Spirit Airlines Sends 6-Year-Old to Wrong City

Spirit Airlines is in hot water after mistakenly flying an unaccompanied 6-year-old to the wrong destination on Thursday, hundreds of miles from his family right before Christmas, the boy’s grandmother told WINK News.

Maria Ramos told WINK that her grandson, Casper, was supposed to arrive at Southwest Florida Airport in Fort Myers from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The grandmother was horrified when she realized that only the boy’s bag made it onto the plane.

To make matters worse, it was poor Casper’s first-ever time flying.

“They told me, ‘No, he’s not on this flight. He missed his flight.’ I said, ‘No, he could not miss his flight because I have the check-in tag,” Ramos told the outlet. “I ran inside the plane to the flight attendant and I asked her, ‘Where’s my grandson? He was handed over to you at Philadelphia?’ She said, ‘No, I had no kids with me.’”

Casper was accidentally sent to Orlando International Airport — more than 200 miles away.

Ramos had to go on a four-hour drive to pick up the little boy, and told the outlet that this was one of the scariest experiences of her life.

Spirit Airlines has offered to reimburse her for the long trek she had to make to get her misplaced grandson, but she’s demanding an explanation.

“I want them to call me,” she said. “Let me know how my grandson ended up in Orlando. How did that happen? Did they get him off the plane? The flight attendant — after mom handed him with paperwork — did she let him go by himself? He jumped in the wrong plane by himself?”

Spirit Airlines acknowledged their mistake to WINK.

“On Dec. 21, an unaccompanied child traveling from Philadelphia (PHL) to Fort Myers (RSW) was incorrectly boarded on a flight to Orlando (MCO),” airline spokesman Michael Lopardi wrote in a statement.

He claimed that Casper “was always under the care and supervision of a Spirit Team Member, and as soon as we discovered the error, we took immediate steps to communicate with the family and reconnect them.”

“We take the safety and responsibility of transporting all of our Guests seriously and are conducting an internal investigation. We apologize to the family for this experience,” he added.
