The Power Hour

Knowledge is Power

Today’s News: September 12, 2023

Today’s Top 5:

Coming soon to a false flag attack near you!

1.22 Years On, Is the US Ready for a Next Big Attack?

If 9/11 were to happen again, it would not take the same form. The United States has evolved, and so have our enemies.

When the most significant terrorist attacks on U.S. soil occurred 22 years ago, communications were grounded to a halt. Cell towers were destroyed, and so were switching equipment for landline phones. People formed long lines outside pay phone booths in New York City, hoping to connect with their loved ones.

Today, America’s infrastructure has grown robust enough to survive similar attacks as 9/11, but there are new vulnerabilities.

And just when you thought the COVID-19 pandemic was over …

2.FDA Clears New COVID-19 Vaccines in Bid to Counter Waning Effectiveness

U.S. drug regulators on Sept. 11 cleared new COVID-19 vaccines to try to counter the poor effectiveness provided by the current options.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared shots from Moderna and Pfizer that will be available to Americans as young as 6 months old later this month.

“Vaccination remains critical to public health and continued protection against serious consequences of COVID-19, including hospitalization and death,” Dr. Peter Marks, a top FDA official, said in a statement. “We very much encourage those who are eligible to consider getting vaccinated.”

3.Former Trump Aide Meadows Appeals Loss in Court to 11th Circuit

Former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows is appealing a federal judge’s refusal to hear state racketeering charges in federal court.

The appeal comes after former President Donald Trump, Mr. Meadows, and 17 co-defendants were indicted by a state grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia, on Aug. 14 over the former chief executive’s challenge to the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, a Democrat who initiated the racketeering prosecution, wants to try all the co-defendants together in state court, but a state judge ordered that one of the co-defendants go to trial on Oct. 23.

Gee, are they going to get serious prison terms like the J-6 protesters did?

4.President Joe Biden Bows to Iran on 9/11: Pays $6 Billion for Five Prisoners

The Biden administration has reportedly approved a deal with Iran to pay the rogue regime $6 billion in exchange for five detained American citizens.

The deal, according to the Associated Press (AP), entailed the Biden administration issuing a blanket waiver for international banks to transfer $6 billion in frozen Iranian money from South Korea to Qatar without U.S. sanctions. The money would then be held in Qatar’s central bank for Iran to use, reportedly for the purchase of humanitarian goods.

5.Protesters Arrested After Storming Kevin McCarthy’s Office

Multiple protesters were arrested after storming House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) office Monday, demanding the California congressman reauthorize the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, otherwise known as PEPFAR.

Video shows protesters entering the speaker’s office in the Rayburn House Office Building — not his Capitol office — repeatedly shouting, “Pass PEPFAR now McCarthy!” and sitting down in his office as they continued their rallying cry. One of the protesters could be seen wearing a shirt reading, “HIV-Positive.” Another sign read, “end AIDS.”

Morocco earthquake: death toll passes 2,800 as foreign aid teams fly in

The death toll in the Moroccan earthquake has passed 2,800 people as a limited number of foreign aid and rescue teams joined an intensifying race against time to find any remaining survivors high in the Atlas mountains, where many villages remain inaccessible.

Up to 2,000 feared drowned after Libyan city hit by ‘catastrophic’ storm floods

As many as 2,000 people may have been drowned after a powerful storm unleashed catastrophic floods in the eastern Libyan city of Derna, according to the head of one of the country’s two rival governments.

Speaking on Libyan network Almasar, Ossama Hamad, prime minister of the east-based government, reported “more than 2,000 dead and thousands missing” in the city of Derna alone, after torrential rains over the weekend brought by Mediterranean storm Daniel. No medical sources or emergency services have confirmed such figures.

European Union Economic Outlook Worsens as Inflation Takes Toll

The European Union has lowered its forecast for economic growth this year and next, saying inflation is taking a heavy toll on people’s willingness to spend in shops – while higher interest rates are sharply restricting the credit needed for investment and purchases.

The revised forecast Monday from the European Commission, the EU´s executive arm, comes as fears of recession grow and as the European Central Bank faces a key decision this week on whether to keep raising rates, which are aimed at getting inflation under control.

Kim Jong-un arrives in Russia to meet Putin as US threatens sanctions

Kim Jong-un has arrived in Russia on his armoured train for a rare summit with Vladimir Putin to discuss a possible deal to supply North Korean arms for the war in Ukraine.

The train arrived at Khasan station, the main rail gateway to Russia’s Far East from North Korea, Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported on Tuesday, citing an unnamed Russian official source.

Donald Trump Asks Judge Tanya Chutkan to Recuse Herself from January 6 Case

Former President Donald Trump’s attorneys filed a motion Monday for U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan to recuse herself from overseeing the federal case against him over his alleged role in the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Chutkan, an Obama donor, is known to hand out some of the harshest sentences for January 6 defendants. Trump’s legal team cited the “inherently disqualifying” statements she made while handling the cases.

20 Years of Cato Research on the Global War on Terror

Immediately after the September 11th terrorist attacks, Cato scholars began researching the rapidly unfolding global war on terrorism. Although they supported a robust response to the attacks, Cato’s researchers warned of the dangers of threat inflation and nation building, and opposed the damage done to civil liberties and republican institutions. The selection of articles below highlights Cato’s research across the first 20 years of the war on terror.

Soros-Aligned Texas DA Sidesteps Removal Trial By Resigning, Announces Senate Run Against Ted Cruz

Authored by Darlene McCormick Sanchez via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours),

A George Soros-aligned Texas district attorney who faced removal from office for failing to prosecute cases, including high-profile cases of murder and rape, has resigned.

Nueces County District Attorney Mark Gonzalez, a Democrat, announced his resignation in a Sept. 5 letter to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, who will name his replacement.

At the same time, Mr. Gonzalez announced a run for U.S. Senate to unseat Republican Senator Ted Cruz, according to local media.

Mr. Gonzalez sidestepped a civil lawsuit scheduled in December to remove him from office for “incompetence and official misconduct under the guise of prosecutorial discretion” and failure to give bond.

The lawsuit claimed Mr. Gonzalez “nullified” the law, abused his authority, and violated his oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitutions and laws of the United States and Texas.

The complaint was initially filed in January by Citizens Defending Freedom state director Colby Wiltse, a resident of Nueces County.

County attorney Jenny Dorsey endorsed the filing in February, allowing it to move forward.

“This is a great day for justice in Nueces County,” Mr. Wiltse said in a statement after Mr. Gonzalez made his announcement.

“Mark Gonzalez, like many of the Soros-aligned District Attorneys across the country, redefined the role of the district attorney in the name of social justice, often at the cost of public safety in the communities they swear an oath to protect.”

In his resignation letter, Mr. Gonzalez criticized “MAGA-aligned political radicals” working to oust him—an apparent harbinger of his Senate run.

JFK Assassination Witness Breaks 60-Year Silence, Refutes Key Claim

A witness to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy spoke out for the first time in 60 years and refuted a key claim regarding the 1963 incident and a “magic bullet.”

Paul Landis, an 88-year-old former Secret Service agent, was just a few feet away from when President Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas. At the time, he was assigned to protect Jackie Kennedy, the former first lady.

Mr. Landis, in a recent interview with the New York Times, cast doubt on the government-backed Warren Commission’s finding that a “magic bullet” struck and exited the president before it struck then-Texas Gov. John Connally Jr., a theory that has been the subject of criticism for decades and has helped fuel a range alternative theories about the former president’s assassination. Officially, the U.S. government and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has maintained that a lone gunman—Lee Harvey Oswald—was the sole perpetrator.

‘We Will Not Comply’: Gun Owners Publicly Defy New Mexico Governor’s Firearms Ban

Gun owners and activists held a protest over New Mexico’s temporary ban on carrying firearms in public in the state capital and surrounding county, insisting that they won’t comply with the order.

To defy the governor’s ban on open and concealed carry of firearms, the gun owners, “many visibly armed,” held a rally in Old Town, Albuquerque, on Sept. 10, video journalist Ford Fischer shared on X, formerly Twitter.

One speaker insisted that the order “will not stand, we will not comply,” which was met with loud applause from the crowd.

Great day for a home invasion, eh?  This is going to become more commonplace.

NM Sheriff: Gov. Grisham’s Concealed Carry Ban Is ‘Unconstitutional,’ Will Not Be Enforced

Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen clarified Monday that he will not enforce New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s (D) “unconstitutional” ban on concealed carry.

The Associated Press (AP) quoted Allen saying, “It’s unconstitutional, so there’s no way we can enforce that order.”

He went on to express his opinion that the order “does nothing to curb gun violence.”

Breitbart Business Digest: Bidenomics Summer Ends with Americans More Pessimistic About Their Finances

The Bidenomics Summer Gambit Goes Bust

If Joe Biden was hoping this would be a hot Bidenomics summer, he has got to be feeling pretty disappointed right now.

The best way to think about the Bidenomics push from the White House is as a bet on a strengthening economy and cooling inflation. In some ways, this was an outlandish gambit because the odds were always against what Wall Street has been calling “immaculate disinflation.“ The most likely outcomes were that inflation would remain persistently high or the economy would significantly slow down.

US takes on Google: What to know about biggest antitrust trial in decades

Google has grabbed a 90 percent market share in search in the US in recent years.

The United States Department of Justice and a coalition of state attorneys general will start a blockbuster antitrust trial in Washington, DC, alleging that Alphabet’s Google unlawfully abused its dominance in the search engine market to maintain monopoly power.

What is the trial about?

The Justice Department and 52 attorneys general representing US states or territories say Google unfairly forged its domination of online search by paying billions of dollars to Apple and other business partners to ensure its search engine would be the default on most phones and browsers.

The government’s lawsuit, filed in 2020 in federal court, alleges these deals were intended by Google to be “exclusionary”, denying rivals access to search queries and clicks, and allowing Google to entrench its market dominance.

Google has grabbed a 90 percent market share in search in the US in recent years, according to government estimates.

The government said the browser agreements – steering billions of web queries to Google every day – have resulted in less choice for consumers and less innovation.

What is Google saying in its defence?

Google maintains it did not violate antitrust law. It said in a January court filing that its browser agreements were “legitimate competition” and not “illicit exclusion”.

The agreements did not prevent rivals from developing their own search engines or stop companies such as Apple and Mozilla from promoting them, Google argues.

Rather, the makers of phones and web browsers set Google search as their default because they wanted to deliver the “highest quality” experience for their customers, Google claimed in its January filing.

Google also claims mobile users can switch easily if they want to use another search engine.

“People don’t use Google because they have to – they use it because they want to,” said Kent Walker, Google president of global affairs, in a blog post.

What happens if Google loses?

The US and state allies are not seeking a monetary penalty, but rather an injunction barring Google from continuing the alleged anticompetitive practices.

Such an order could have significant business implications for Google. For example, the government said in its lawsuit that the court could break up the company as a fix.

More broadly, the Justice Department may argue that it wants to stop Google from leveraging its alleged search monopoly to make exclusive deals in newly emerging markets, including artificial intelligence.

The trial at the US District Court for the District of Columbia is expected to last about 10 weeks. The judge would not be expected to rule until sometime in 2024.

Bot Vs. Human: ChatGPT Developer OpenAI Confirms AI Detectors Don’t Work

OpenAI, the developers of the massively popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, has officially acknowledged that AI writing detectors are not as reliable as once thought, casting doubt on the efficacy of automated tools in distinguishing between human and machine-generated content.

Ars Technica reports that in a recent FAQ section accompanying a promotional blog post for educators, OpenAI admits what many in the tech industry have suspected: AI writing detectors are not not very good. “While some (including OpenAI) have released tools that purport to detect AI-generated content, none of these have proven to reliably distinguish between AI-generated and human-generated content,” the company stated.

Scientists Re-Engineer The Brain To Alter Human Addiction

Ohio State University professor Krystof Bankiewicz never imagined that he’d find himself working with alcoholic monkeys. Yet, through his research into Parkinson’s disease, he began to realise that – thanks to these monkeys – he might have a unique window into the brain pathways of addiction and ways of reshaping them for the better.

“I strongly believe that we have to view all brain disorders, such as addictions, through the lens of different wiring,” he says. “The brain is incredible at organising connections, but certain individuals are more predisposed to being wired in certain ways.”

Both Parkinson’s and addictions are intrinsically linked to a substance called dopamine, often known as the pleasure chemical. Activities such as sex, drinking, taking illicit drugs, winning £10 on a slot machine or watching pornography all flood the brain with surges of dopamine, creating a desire to repeat the experience.

Some people are particularly susceptible to swiftly becoming dependent on these dopamine surges, which can subsequently develop into an addiction. When these behaviours turn into chronic habits, the brain starts to produce less and less dopamine each time, which is why addicts often explain that their drinking or drug use does not actually provide them with any pleasure.

IN-DEPTH: Parents Should Not Post Children’s Photos Online, Warn Safety Experts

With children spending an increasing amount of time on the internet and many uploading photos to their social media accounts, sexual predators continue to steal these images to produce child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Further compounding the proliferation of CSAM is the easy access to artificial intelligence (AI), and law enforcement agencies and child protective organizations are seeing a dramatic rise in AI-generated CSAM.

Yaron Litwin is a digital safety expert and chief marketing officer at Netspark, the company behind a program called CaseScan that identifies AI-generated CSAM online, aiding law enforcement agencies in their investigations.

A firsthand perspective on the recent LinkedIn account takeover campaign

Not long ago I wrote about a recent campaign to hold LinkedIn users’ accounts to ransom. Shortly after I published the article, a co-worker, Pearce, reached out to me told me he’d been a target of the campaign.

His story begins with an SMS text from LinkedIn telling him to reset his password. He found this confusing: It arrived in the middle of the night, and he hadn’t asked for a password reset. Since he doesn’t use the LinkedIn app on his mobile he checked his account on his laptop first thing in the morning. The current sessions (Profile Picture > Settings > Sign in & security > Where you’re signed in) showed an unknown IP address in Texas logged into his account.

Frustration #1: The promised “Sign out of all these sessions” option was nowhere to be found. He double checked in a browser session on Windows and in the app on Android. It’s wasn’t there.

Pearce then found out that there was at least one person in his Connections that he did not invite or accept an invitation from. This person also hailed from Texas.

X wants your biometric data

Users of X (formerly Twitter) paying for a checkmark under what used to be called Twitter Blue (now X Premium) have some biometric related decisions to make. The BBC reports that Elon Musk, having dismantled the old checkmark system to replace it with the all new Premium, is (re)introducing identity verification.

The old verification system typically verified users by requesting a copy of government issued ID like a passport scan. This system is now returning, but with some additional features along for the ride.

People signed up to the subscription service can now choose to provide an image and photo ID for verification. In relation to the updated privacy policy, X had this to say to the BBC:

X will give the option to provide their government ID, combined with a selfie, to add a verification layer.

“Biometric data may be extracted from both the government ID and the selfie image for matching purposes. This will additionally help us tie, for those that choose, an account to a real person by processing their government-issued ID. This will also help X fight impersonation attempts and make the platform more secure.

That’s not all. Users may be able to submit additional information like employment and education history. The policy continues:

We may collect and use your personal information (such as your employment history, educational history, employment preferences, skills and abilities, job search activity and engagement, and so on) to recommend potential jobs for you, to share with potential employers when you apply for a job, to enable employers to find potential candidates, and to show you more relevant advertising.

EV Road Trip Fiasco: Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm’s Search for Chargers Gets the Cops Called on Her

U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm embarked on a four-day road trip in an electric vehicle this summer and faced a few issues, including trouble locating chargers, long downtimes as batteries slowly refilled, and even having the police called on her.

Granholm drove from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Memphis, Tennessee, in an attempt to draw attention to the billions of dollars the White House is pouring into green energy and clean cars, according to a report by NPR.

Heat pumps twice as efficient as fossil fuel systems in cold weather, study finds

Heat pumps are more than twice as efficient as fossil fuel heating systems in cold temperatures, research shows.

Even at temperatures approaching -30C, heat pumps outperform oil and gas heating systems, according to the research from Oxford University and the Regulatory Assistance Project thinktank.

Heat pump uptake is rising in many countries as fossil fuel energy prices have soared following the invasion of Ukraine and as governments seek to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

World Bank spent billions of dollars backing fossil fuels in 2022, study finds

The World Bank poured billions of dollars into fossil fuels around the world last year despite repeated promises to refocus on shifting to a low-carbon economy, research has suggested.

The money went through a special form of funding known as trade finance, which is used to facilitate global transactions.

Urgewald, a campaign group that tracks global fossil fuel finance, found that the World Bank supplied about $3.7bn (£2.95bn) in trade finance in 2022 that was likely to have ended up funding oil and gas developments.

Heike Mainhardt, the author of the research, called for reform of the World Bank and its private finance arm, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), to make such transactions more transparent and to exclude funding for fossil fuels from its lending. “They can’t say that they are aligned with the Paris agreement, because there isn’t enough transparency to be able to tell,” she said.

Cleaning The Garden In Autumn – Getting Your Garden Ready For Winter

As the cool weather sets in and the plants in our gardens fade, it’s time to think about preparing the garden for winter. Fall garden clean up is essential to the long-term health of your garden. Keep reading to learn more about preparing a vegetable garden for winter.

Planting a Fall Vegetable Garden

We love fall gardening! The heat is waning but the soil is still warm. There are just three steps to consider in planting a fall garden: when to plant, what to plant, and where to plant. Let’s get started!

Why Plant a Fall Garden

Fall gardening is much less stressful for many crops—as well as shrubs, trees, and perennials. There are less weeds, less pests, and it’s often rainier so less need to water as often.

  • In temperate parts of the country (USDA zones 4 to 8), planting can even continue into November and December, especially crops like spinach, Swiss chard, broccoli, and kale!
  • In colder climates, some of these same vegetables are frost-tolerant. Many crops taste better after a frost or two.

As soon as your spring and summer crops stop producing, pull them and make room for all those delicious fall crops! There are just three steps to consider.

HEALTH

What Happens When You Take Fish Oil for 90 Days

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that your body cannot produce on its own, making it necessary to obtain them from external sources, such as fish and fish oil supplements. These two components – fish oil and omega-3s – work synergistically to promote optimal health.

Without further delay, let’s look at the benefits of taking fish oil, starting with:

Anti-Inflammatory Powers of Fish Oil

One of the most well-known and researched benefits of fish oil is its anti-inflammatory properties. Chronic inflammation has been linked to a range of health issues, including heart disease, arthritis, and even certain types of cancer. The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), play a crucial role in reducing inflammation throughout the body.

Support Heart Health

The EPA and DHA fatty acids in fish oil contribute to reducing inflammation in the arteries, which is a key factor in developing heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, consuming 1 gram of omega-3s per day can significantly reduce cardiovascular diseases by approximately 10%.

Balancing Cholesterol and Triglyceride Levels

Cholesterol management is vital for maintaining a healthy heart, and fish oil supplements can contribute to achieving this goal.

Brain and Mental Health

Did you know that your brain is made up of nearly 60% fat, and much of this fat is omega-3 fatty acids? Both EPA and DHA fatty acids in omega-3 are important, but DHA may be more important when it comes to brain health. That’s because DHA is the predominant fatty acid in the brain and eye tissue, where it is several hundred times more abundant than EPA.

Reducing Symptoms of Neurodevelopment Disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders encompass a range of conditions characterized by atypical development of the brain and nervous system. Examples include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and dyslexia.

Now, let’s explore the other diverse ways fish oil can positively impact our well-being.

Diverse Health Benefits

  1. Joint Health: Fish oil’s anti-inflammatory properties have shown promising results in reducing joint pain and stiffness associated with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. By mitigating inflammation, and providing lubrication and nourishment to the joints, fish oil can contribute to improved joint mobility and overall comfort for those with joint-related issues.
  2. Skin Health: Omega-3 fatty acids help maintain healthy skin by supporting its natural barrier function. Fish oil supplements are known to alleviate skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema or atopic dermatitis, reducing redness, itching, and scaling associated with these conditions. They may also contribute to skin hydration, promoting a youthful appearance.
  3. Eye Health: While evidence regarding fish oil’s effect on preventing eye diseases is still emerging, studies suggest that consuming omega-3s may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and dry eyes. Including fish oil supplements in your diet may be beneficial for maintaining good eye health.
  4. Pregnancy Support: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential during pregnancy for fetal brain development. Supplementing with fish oil during pregnancy has been linked to improved infant visual development, reduced risk of allergies, and protective effects against preterm birth complications.
  5. Liver Function: Fish oil supplementation may aid in improving liver function and reducing fat accumulation in individuals dealing with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The anti-inflammatory properties of omega-3s contribute to better liver health.

Moderna, Immatics Collaborate on Cancer Vaccines

Vaccine maker Moderna said on Monday it had struck a deal with Immatics for developing cancer vaccines and therapies and would pay the drug developer $120 million in cash and additional milestone payments.

Moderna said the companies intend to combine Immatics’ T-cell redirecting cancer therapies with its mRNA technology.

Immatics will also receive research funding and is eligible to receive development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments that could exceed $1.7 billion, Moderna said.

Mosquitos Carrying Rare Virus Found in US

You’ve probably heard of West Nile virus, but mosquitoes spread various other illnesses, too, including the little-known Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV), which is garnering attention across the United States.

For example, health officials in Connecticut have so far identified mosquitoes carrying JCV in 12 towns across the state. Although no confirmed human cases of the disease have occurred there this year, scientists are watching it carefully, as it’s affecting more people around the United States.

“In the last six years, we have seen an increase in the number of reported disease cases,” said Stacey Martin, an epidemiologist with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, “this could be due to better awareness of the disease and more testing.”

In rare cases, JCV can cause severe disease, including infection of the brain (encephalitis) or the membranes around the brain and spinal cord (meningitis), Martin warned.

However, “we are learning that most people who are exposed to JCV do not develop symptoms. We also know that many people with mild symptoms, such as fever, fatigue and headache, may not seek medical care,” she added.

CDC to Determine Who Should Get the New COVID Shots

A U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advisory panel is due on Tuesday to recommend whether the updated COVID-19 shots formulated by vaccine manufacturers should be given broadly or just to specific populations at higher risk during this fall’s vaccination campaign.

The updated shots are part of a push by public health officials to align the next COVID vaccines more closely with the actual circulating variant of the virus, similar to the way annual flu shots

Fauci Makes New Prediction on COVID Mask Mandates
Former White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci said Sunday that it’s likely that no federal mandates will be implemented for masks, but he suggested that recommendations may be given.

“I can see that if we get a significant uptick in cases that you may see the recommendation that masks be used under certain circumstances and indoor crowded settings, but I don’t see there’d be certainly not federal mandates,” he told ABC News on Sunday morning, adding he would be “extremely surprised.”

“There may be local organizations that may require masks, but I think what we’re gonna see mostly are, if the cases go up that there might be recommendations, not mandates. There’s a big difference there,” Dr. Fauci continued.

Americans Divided as Mask Mandates Make a Comeback Amid COVID-19 Surge

Several schools and private companies have reinstated mask mandates as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to increase across the country, causing divisions in communities over how to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

COVID-19 hospitalizations have increased by nearly 16 percent over the past week alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

In Alabama, Kinterbish Junior High School issued a mask mandate in late August for students, staff, and visitors due to COVID-19 and just this week, Rosemary Hills Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, issued a mask mandate for 10 days, after three people at the school tested positive for the virus.

Ryan Walters, the school district’s superintendent, said this is a move to indoctrinate children with harmful Marxist ideology and a way to pit children against their parents.

EXCLUSIVE: Private Catholic School Quietly Introduces Social Justice Course, ‘Disguised as Religion Class,’ Required for Graduation

A private Catholic school in Maryland has quietly introduced a social justice course for seniors that’s required for graduation. One mother calls it social justice indoctrination “disguised as a religion class.” The curriculum is vague; much is kept secret.

She also provided documents to support her claim that the new class is little more than critical race theory (CRT), with no academic benefit.

81,000 Illegal Immigrants Will Soon Be Eligible Under Minnesota’s ‘Driver’s License for All’ Program

Minnesota will begin granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants next month, with the state ensuring that applicant information won’t be revealed to immigration authorities.

“The Driver’s License for All (DL4All) law will allow Minnesotans to begin the process of getting a standard Class D instruction permit or driver’s license or a standard identification card. The law eliminates the need to show proof of legal presence in the United States,” according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) website. The DL4All program will be available starting on Oct. 1.

About 81,000 undocumented immigrants in the state are estimated to be eligible for driver’s licenses under the program.

Death by a Thousand Cuts: The Many Ways Our Rights Have Been Usurped Since 9/11

Those who gave us the Constitution and the Bill of Rights believed that the government exists at the behest of its citizens. It is there to protect, defend and even enhance our freedoms, not violate them.

Unfortunately, although the Bill of Rights was adopted as a means of protecting the people against government tyranny, in America today, the government does whatever it wants, freedom be damned.

In the 22 years since the USA Patriot Act—a massive 342-page wish list of expanded powers for the FBI and CIA—was rammed through Congress in the wake of the so-called 9/11 terror attacks, it has snowballed into the eradication of every vital safeguard against government overreach, corruption and abuse.

The Patriot Act drove a stake through the heart of the Bill of Rights, violating at least six of the ten original amendments—the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Amendments—and possibly the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments, as well.

The Patriot Act also redefined terrorism so broadly that many non-terrorist political activities such as protest marches, demonstrations and civil disobedience are now considered potential terrorist acts, thereby rendering anyone desiring to engage in protected First Amendment expressive activities as suspects of the surveillance state.
