The Firebombing of Maui – Part 1 … and so the suspect information continues … a News with Views opinion letter by Cherie Zawslowsky (add to your “mix”)!

5.The Firebombing of Maui: Part 1

Commentary by By Cherie Zaslawsky

The recent conflagration in Maui’s Lahaina Town shocked the nation. Some have called it an act of war—if so, one might argue that it has a predecessor.

Although the Allies in World War II clearly needed to stop Hitler and to aid Russia in its advance on Germany from the east, many have questioned whether the firebombing of Dresden, the “Florence on the Elbe,” was justified. It was certainly horrific. Historian Donald Miller paints a vivid picture of the cataclysmic scene:

“People’s shoes melted into the hot asphalt of the streets, and the fire moved so swiftly that many were reduced to atoms before they had time to remove their shoes. The fire melted iron and steel, turned stone into powder, and caused trees to explode from the heat of their own resin.”

History may not exactly repeat, but it often rhymes. The above description sounds eerily similar to the effects of the inferno in Lahaina. Of course, Dresden was a major European cultural center in the midst of a world war, while Lahaina is a small town in Hawaii, so there the comparison ends.

And, in the case of Dresden, the apocalyptic ruination of that beautiful city resulted from incessant Allied bombing including incendiaries that created a firestorm, killing tens of thousands of civilians and leaving only charred remains of the exquisite architecture that had graced the city.

Whereas in Lahaina, there were no visible bombs, no readily discernible enemy, and for the most part, not even any rubble. Only ash.

A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Defense said that the agency will investigate the disappearance of an F-35 stealth fighter jet in South Carolina, which prompted lengthy search for the aircraft before its debris was located on Monday night.

When asked by an MSNBC anchor on Tuesday about how the plane disappeared, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby responded: “That will be something that they will investigate.”

“Believe me, after every aviation mishap, the Pentagon does what the Pentagon does, they will investigate it to try to get the answers on what happened,” he added, saying the “Defense Department [will] be transparent” after the probe is completed. “And they’ll … look at their own search and recovery efforts of the aircraft itself to see whether that was conducted in all the appropriate ways. They’ll investigate this.”

UK faces worst inflation among developed countries

Britain will face one of the highest inflation rates of any major developed economy this year, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) revealed on Tuesday.

UK inflation, which only recently fell to single digits for the first time since last summer, will average 7.2% this year, the Paris-based organization said in its latest Economic Outlook report.

The rate of price growth in the UK was the fastest among the Group of Seven (G7) major industrialized nations and the third fastest across the Group of Twenty (G20). Economists attributed this to fuel price fluctuations.

The OECD downgraded the UK’s growth forecast for 2024 from 1% to only 0.8%, pointing to the “significant risks” the country is facing.

The UK Parliament Undermined The Privacy, Security, And Freedom Of All Internet Users

The U.K. Parliament has passed the Online Safety Bill (OSB), which says it will make the U.K. “the safest place” in the world to be online. In reality, the OSB will lead to a much more censored, locked-down internet for British users. The bill could empower the government to undermine not just the privacy and security of U.K. residents, but internet users worldwide.

Real BRICS Threat + The Worst Macros I’ve Ever Seen

Commentary by By Matthew Piepenburg

Left or right, the dumb out of DC just keeps getting dumber.

Between rising rates (nod to Powell), which make capex investing untenable for US oil producers, and a Weekend at Bernie’s White House, which has spent years effectively legislating US oil into oblivion, US energy supply is falling, and we all know that weakening supply leads to higher prices—and inflation.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, whom that same White House called a “pariah state,” has not been warming to Biden’s awkward fist-pumps and increased production pleas, but rather joining other OPEC leaders in cutting, rather than expanding, oil production.

Gee, what a geopolitical shocker…

Net result, both national and global oil inventories are falling, and falling hard.

Florida girl burned by McDonald’s fast food awarded $800,000 by jury

Second-degree burns caused by McDonald’s fast food lead a jury to award $800,000 in damages to a 4-year-old girl after her mother drove away from a drive-thru in South Florida.

The Chicken McNugget that injured the child’s thigh was 200 degrees in temperature, according to media reports.

“This was a very, very hot Chicken McNugget,” said Bob Jarvis, Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law professor. “The temperatures that these fast foods register always amazes me, and I wonder whether the food must be that hot. Maybe it does.”

Olive Oil at Risk Due to Extreme Weather, Prices Surge over 100 Percent

Olive oil is the latest commodity to see huge price hikes as it faces extreme weather during its production.

The average price in August was 130% higher compared to the year before. Global prices for olive oil were at $8,900 per ton in September driven by extremely dry weather in the Mediterranean, according to a report by the United States Department of Agriculture.

IRS Overhauls Audit Practice After Reports of ‘Racial Disparities’ in Tax Audits

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is set on promoting “fairness and accuracy” and has taken steps to reduce audit rate disparities after reports emerged that the federal agency inadvertently audits black taxpayers at significantly higher rates than non-black Americans.

IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel said in a Sept. 18 letter (pdf) to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) that the agency has implemented various changes aimed at reducing racial disparities while simultaneously focusing more on wealthy tax evaders and “bad actors” who “contribute significantly to the tax gap.”

The agency received $80 billion in funding last year as part of the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

And the expansion of Satanic ritualistic behavior continues …

Elon Musk’s Neuralink approved to recruit humans for brain-implant trial

Elon Musk’s brain-implant startup, Neuralink, said it has received approval from an independent review board to begin recruiting patients for its first human trial. The company is seeking people with paralysis to test its experimental device in a six-year study.

Neuralink is one of several companies developing a brain-computer interface (BCI) that can collect and analyze brain signals. But its billionaire executive’s bombastic promotion of the company, including promises to develop an all-encompassing brain computer to help humans keep up with artificial intelligence, has attracted skepticism and raised ethical concerns among neuroscientists and other experts.

Last year, the Food and Drug Administration denied the company’s request to fast-track human trials, but in May approved Neuralink for an investigational device exemption (IDE) that allows a device to be used for clinical studies. The agency has not disclosed how its initial concerns were resolved.

A Nation of Snitches: DHS Is Grooming Americans to Report on Each Other

Commentary by John Whitehead – Are you among the 41% of Americans who regularly attend church or some other religious service?

Do you believe the economy is about to collapse and the government will soon declare martial law?

Do you display an unusual number of political and/or ideological bumper stickers on your car?

Are you among the 44% of Americans who live in a household with a gun? If so, are you concerned that the government may be plotting to confiscate your firearms?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you may be an anti-government extremist (a.k.a. domestic terrorist) in the eyes of the government and flagged for heightened surveillance and preemptive intervention.

Let that sink in a moment.

If you believe in and exercise your rights under the Constitution (namely, your right to speak freely, worship freely, associate with like-minded individuals who share your political views, criticize the government, own a weapon, demand a warrant before being questioned or searched, or any other activity viewed as potentially anti-government, racist, bigoted, anarchic or sovereign), you have just been promoted to the top of the government’s terrorism watch list.

In the event of a barricaded hostage situation … turn your WiFi off?!?!?!

Your WiFi Can See You

When police suspected Danny Kyllo, an Oregon man, of growing cannabis in his home they drove to his house with a thermal imaging device to scan it. They found hot pockets in the house, which were used to obtain a search warrant and subsequently bust Kyllo.

Fortunately, a 5-4 Supreme Court decision ruled the scan an unlawful search under the Fourth Amendment, requiring a warrant the police did not obtain. Score one for privacy, but the government is about to have a far more controversial and dangerous tool at its disposal to monitor what’s going on inside your home.

Unlike a thermal imager, this device is already in your home – and you put it there.

How It Works

WiFi is electromagnetic waves in the 2.4 and 5 GHz ranges. It’s the same thing as the light you see, only it can penetrate walls due to its much longer wavelength. Just like light (and echolocation) these waves also reflect off various surfaces and, when reconstructed properly, can be used to create an image.

Development of this technology goes back at least as far as July 2005, where researchers claimed at an IEEE Symposium that they had created an ultra-wideband high-resolution short pulse imaging radar system operating around 10 GHz. The applications for which were explicitly for military and police use, providing them with “enhanced situation awareness.”

A few years later, in 2008, researchers at UC Santa Barbara created an initial approach for imaging with WiFi that they presented at IEEE ACC 2009. A year later they demonstrated the feasibility of this approach.

Leftist Colombian President Predicts Billions of Climate Migrants in Unhinged U.N. Address

Colombian far-left President Gustavo Petro used his time at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday to proclaim that the “times of extinction” have begun and predict that billions of migrants will soon join a climate “exodus.”

In addition to the ominous doomsday scenario he narrated, Petro dismissed the world’s focus on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, asking, “What’s the difference between Ukraine and Palestine?” Petro also once again made calls to “reform” world finance, push towards “decarbonized capitalism,” and decriminalize drugs.

Is There Propane in Your Nonstick Avocado Oil Spray?

Most cooking sprays contain an egregious list of ingredients, including dimethyl silicone, an anti-foaming agent that’s also added to paint, textiles and cosmetics

Propellants, including nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, n-butane, isobutane and propane, are also added so the oil will spray out of the can

Additives aside, cooking sprays are made from vegetable and seed oils, such as corn oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil and canola oil

Seed oils are among the most common sources of linoleic acid in the U.S. diet, excessive levels of which may contribute to cardiovascular disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s and other chronic diseases

Ditch your toxic cooking sprays in favor of healthier choices; for cooking, excellent substitutions include butter, tallow, ghee and organic coconut oil

Stop spending money on those store-bought cooking oil sprays with questionable ingredients and only a fraction of the oil. This homemade substitute for cooking spray is easy to make, can be made with healthy oils, and is the perfect non-stick cooking spray for all your baking or cooking needs.

Fruits Are Now So Sweet That Zoos Had to Stop Feeding Them to Animals

An old article but important to show other dangers of GMO food you may not have heard of

Zookeepers in Australia are beginning to wean some animals off fruits because they’re now too sweet for the animals’ good.

“The issue is the cultivated fruits have been genetically modified to be much higher in sugar content than their natural, ancestral fruits,” said Michael Lynch, the Melbourne Zoo’s head veterinarian, in the Sydney Morning Herald.

What Lynch is referring to is the genetic engineering farmers have been able to use with today’s technology to speed up the breeding process of crops, typically making them more resistant to viruses and pests. These processes have given way to making fruits much different than how they normally were grown, including growing watermelon with a much deeper red inside, reducing the size of the large, hard seeds that were once inside bananas, ridding eggplant of the spines they once had, and making peaches 64 times larger than they once were and 27 percent juicer, according to Business Insider.

The sugar has caused red pandas and other primates, who have developed a liking to these modified, sugary fruits compared to the natural versions, to gain weight and even show signs of tooth decay.

This may seem counterintuitive to most.

For humans, having a regular intake of fruit has been associated with a lowered risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, obesity and a range of cancers, including breast, lung and oral, according to an evidence review by the Australian government.

Viral RNA Can Persist for 2 Years After COVID-19: Preprint Study

A new study may explain why some people who get COVID-19 never return to normal and instead experience new medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, clotting dysfunction, activation of latent viruses, diabetes mellitus, or what’s known as “long COVID” after SARS-CoV-2 infection.

In a recent preprint study published on medRxiv, researchers conducted the first positron emission tomography (PET) imaging study of T cell activation in individuals who previously recovered from COVID-19 and found that SARS-CoV-2 infection may result in persistent T cell activation in a variety of body tissues for years following initial symptoms.

Even in clinically mild cases of COVID-19, this phenomenon could explain the systemic changes observed in the immune system and in those with long COVID symptoms.
