A New York judge is trying to take out the entire New York Trump business empire …

  1. Appeals court will not delay Donald Trump civil fraud trial

A New York appeals court on Thursday refused to delay Donald Trump’s scheduled Oct. 2 civil fraud trial, after the former U.S. president accused the trial judge of wrongly refusing to throw out most of the case.

In a brief order, a five-judge panel of the Appellate Division, a mid-level appeals court in Manhattan, denied Trump’s motion to postpone the trial.

It also lifted a Sept. 14 order by Justice David Friedman to put the trial on hold while it considered Trump’s motion. Friedman was part of Thursday’s panel.

Just 9.3 million viewers tuned in for the debate across Fox News, Fox Business, and Univision, marking a 26 percent decline in viewers from last month’s debate.

Chinese Hackers Stole 60,000 Emails From State Department Officials

The hackers focused on Indo-Pacific diplomatic efforts as Secretary of State Antony Blinken was readying his high-profile trip to China.

A total of 60,000 emails from the U.S. State Department got into Chinese hackers’ hands during a cyber campaign focused on Microsoft that was uncovered in July, according to Senate staff briefed on the matter on Sept. 27.

These emails belong to 10 State Department accounts, a staffer for Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) told The Epoch Times. The hackers had their focus on Indo-Pacific diplomatic efforts—nine of the victims work on East Asia and Pacific affairs, the other on affairs in Europe.

The hackers also accessed officials’ travel itineraries and captured a list of every State Department email address. Kelly Fletcher, the State Department’s chief information officer, told briefing attendees that fewer than 10 Social Security numbers were also in hackers’ reach.

Speaking to autoworkers at Drake Enterprises in Clinton Township, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit, President Trump referred to his rivals as “the job candidates,” saying that they were only running as an audition for a cabinet position with him.

President Trump delivered the speech, coming amid a strike by the United Automobile Workers (UAW) union, in lieu of attending the second Republican presidential debate, attended by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Vice President Mike Pence, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, and Sen. Gold Bars Sold Out in ‘a Few Hours,’ Says Costco

Online inventory of gold bars is being snapped up by customers rapidly, said Costco on Tuesday.

How Your Kidneys Influence Blood Pressure

Nearly 46% of American adults suffer from high blood pressure affected by your circulating blood volume and blood vessel constriction, both of which are regulated by your kidneys

Research data demonstrates high levels of uric acid, cleared through your kidneys, may increase your risk of gout and kidney stones, and raise your blood pressure

Vitamin D helps protect against early kidney disease and therefore helps prevent high blood pressure commonly associated with kidney disease

Getting an accurate blood pressure measurement is critical to making decisions about treatment; you may be able to control your blood pressure by getting exercise, staying hydrated and restricting protein.

PRODUCTS TO TRY:

This Under Consumed Nutrient Helps Fight Gum Inflammation, New Study Shows

At some point we’ve likely all been scolded by a dentist to cool it on the sugar intake (candy, soda, fruit juices, etc.). Because too much sugar equals cavities, right? Yep. So what you eat clearly plays a role in oral health. As it turns out, eating more fiber may protect your gums.

A new systematic review and meta-analysis published in the journal Nutrients was one of the first to take a comprehensive look at all the studies to date in humans on fiber intake and periodontal disease1 (aka gum disease).

4 simple hacks to help you meet your healthy eating goals

When it comes to choosing what to eat, we live in a uniquely challenging era. Never before have humans known more about nutrition and how to eat for optimal health, and yet we’ve never been more surrounded by distractions and temptations that derail us from making healthy choices.

Some people might be able to decide “I’m going to eat healthier!” and do so without any problem, but those folks are unicorns. Most of us know what we should do, but need a little help making it happen—like some simple hacks, tips and tricks for avoiding pitfalls on the road to healthier eating.

While recognizing that what works for one person may not work for another, here are some helpful habits and approaches that might help you move closer to your healthy eating goals.

Goal: Snack on less junk food

Tip: Focus your willpower on the grocery store, not your home

Willpower is a limited commodity for most of us, and it is no match for a bag of potato chips sitting on top of the fridge. It’s just a fact. Channeling your willpower at the grocery store can save you from having to fight that battle at home. If you don’t bring chips into your house in the first place, you’ll find it a lot easier to reach for something healthier.

The key to successful shopping trips is to always go to the store with a specific list and a full stomach—you’ll feel much less tempted to buy the junky snack foods if you’re already satiated.

Goal: Eat less sugar

Tip: Instead of “deprive,” think “delay” or “decrease and delight”

Sugar is a tricky one. Some people find it easier to cut out added sugars altogether, but that can create an all-or-nothing mindset that all too often results in “all.” Eating more whole foods and less processed foods can help us cut out a lot of ancillary sugar, but we still live in a world with birthday cakes and dessert courses.

One approach to dessert temptation is to delay instead of deprive. Tell yourself you can have any sweet you want…tomorrow. This mental trick flips the “I’ll just indulge today and start eating healthier tomorrow” idea on its head. It’s a lot easier to resist something you know you can have tomorrow than to say no to something you think you’ll never get to have again.

Goal: Eat healthier meals

Tip: Focus on fresh foods and plan meals ahead of time

Meal planning is easier than ever before. The internet is filled with countless tools—everything from recipes to shopping lists to meal planning apps—and it’s as awesome as it is overwhelming.

Planning ahead takes the guesswork and decision fatigue out of cooking, preventing the inevitable “Let’s just order a pizza.” You can have a repeating 3-week or 4-week menu of your favorite meals so you never have to think about what you’re going to eat, or you can meal plan once a week to try new recipes and keep things fresh.

Goal: Eat more organic/humanely raised food

Tip: Utilize the “dirty dozen” and “clean 15” lists to prioritize

Many people choose organic because they want to avoid pesticides and other potentially harmful chemicals. Organic food is also better for the planet, and according to the Mayo Clinic, studies have shown that organic produce is higher in certain nutrients.

Most people don’t buy everything organic, but there are some foods that should take priority over others. Each year, researchers from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) analyze thousands of samples of dozens of fruits and vegetables. From this data, they create a list of the “Dirty Dozen” and “Clean 15” fruits and vegetables, indicating what produce has the most and least pesticide residue. These lists give people a good place to start focusing their transition to more organic foods.

Cleaning Products – Not clean for our health

Our lungs are subject to many toxins and chemicals as part of our daily living, but especially when we go into cleaning mode. We scrub and wipe and spray those products on surfaces over and over, more and more, until the job is done. Squeaky clean takes work, but in the process of this labor, our lungs are breathing in those items we are using to achieve the gloss and glow of cleanliness. It is no secret that cleaners can be harmful and irritating to our skin, but what we don’t see is what they are doing to our lungs. Asthma might flare up or respiratory issues might be warning signs (such as coughing), but we should also be weary of the long-term side effects.

This is especially true for people who continuously use these cleaners for their occupational needs or as part of their household routine. In fact, studies have shown using bleach just one time per week had a 32% higher risk of developing COPD. Another study found that women who work in the cleaning industry have a significantly higher decline in lung health versus those who do not work in the cleaning profession. The decline in lung function was comparable to smoking one pack of cigarettes every day.

It’s the fumes from the products that cause concern for our bodies. Almost instantly when the fumes reach the lungs, they can cause inflammation, shortness of breath, coughing, and/or sneezing. Excessive fumes can cause nausea, dizziness, and irritation to the eyes, nose, and/or throat.

There are particular products to be cautious about when using and to avoid using repetitively over time. Reading labels to find out what products contain is the key. Ammonia and bleach are the leaders in harmfulness. Products that contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are known to cause headaches and respiratory issues. Products that contain fragrance can also be harmful. “Fragrance” is an umbrella term and can contain many chemicals not listed including phthalates. These chemicals have been linked to liver and breast cancers, reproductive problems, hormonal complications.

Any of these chemicals can be found in a number of items. Be mindful of what air fresheners, aerosol sprays, oven cleaners, floor polishes, chlorine beach, laundry detergent, upholstery cleaners, and dishwashing detergents, have in them. In any case, there are protective measures you can take. Always clean in well ventilated areas, use water protective gloves, breathing masks, skip scented products, and wear eye protection. There are a multitude of products that can be used naturally.

Natural, effective cleaning agents include baking soda, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, salt, and lemon.

Look Up! The Last Supermoon of 2023 Will Rise Tonight – A Full Harvest Moon – ScienceAlert

It’s been a special few weeks for sky-watchers, with a rare double supermoon and a spectacular Perseid meteor shower visible last month.

Tonight the trend continues, with the final supermoon of 2023 visible on Thursday 28 September and Friday 29 September.

There have been four supermoons in a row in 2023, with one falling in July, two in August, and now this final one in September.

Supermoons are full moons that occur when the moon is at or near perigee, the point when the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit. At total perigee the Moon is 225,804 miles (363,396 km) from Earth.

A super full moon is like a typical full moon, only it’s a third brighter and looks up to 14 percent bigger.

This means that the Moon appears more radiant in the night sky, especially for seasoned observers.

In this instance, the Moon also rises earlier than it typically does so there’s less of a gap between the Sun going down and the moon going up.

This week’s final supermoon is called the ‘Harvest Moon’ in the northern hemisphere because it occurs close to the September equinox.

Back when people were harvesting by hand, this bright supermoon helped light up the evening after the Sun went down, which gave some much-needed extra time to get the harvest in before winter.

New York Bans Facial Recognition Technology in Schools

Yesterday, New York State Education Department Commissioner Betty A. Rosa issued an order prohibiting schools in the state from purchasing or utilizing facial recognition technology. The order will not only help protect the privacy of students and school staff in New York, but it will also hinder one aspect of the federal surveillance state.

In 2020, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill placing a temporary moratorium on facial recognition technology in the state’s schools through July 2022. The law also established a commission to study whether biometric technology is appropriate for use in New York schools, and if so, what kind of restrictions should be placed on their use.

The Tenth Amendment Center is part of a coalition of more than 40 organizations that pushed for the passage of this bill. That coalition put significant pressure on Cuomo to enact the legislation.

Food Delivery Robots Are Feeding Camera Footage to the LAPD, Internal Emails Show

A food delivery robot company that delivers for Uber Eats in Los Angeles provided video filmed by one of its robots to the Los Angeles Police Department as part of a criminal investigation, 404 Media has learned. The incident highlights the fact that delivery robots that are being deployed to sidewalks all around the country are essentially always filming, and that their footage can and has been used as evidence in criminal trials. Emails obtained by 404 Media also show that the robot food delivery company wanted to work more closely with the LAPD, which jumped at the opportunity.

The specific incident in question was a grand larceny case where two men tried (and failed) to steal a robot owned and operated by Serve Robotics, which ultimately wants to deploy “up to 2,000 robots” to deliver food for UberEats in Los Angeles. The suspects were arrested and convicted.

Here’s the Climate Dissent You’re Not Hearing About Because It’s Muffled by Society’s Top Institutions

News Analysis – As the Biden administration and governments worldwide make massive commitments to rapidly decarbonize the global economy, the persistent effort to silence climate change skeptics is intensifying—and the critics keep pushing back.

This summer the International Monetary Fund summarily canceled a presentation by John Clauser, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist who publicly disavows the existence of a climate “crisis.” The head of the nonprofit with which Clauser is affiliated, the CO2 Coalition, has said he and other members have been delisted from LinkedIn for their dissident views.

New York City’s Hotspots Sinking Faster Than Others, Reveals New NASA Report

New York City is collapsing beneath the weight of its own city and among the first areas to be affected by such a tragedy are LaGuardia Airport, Arthur Ashe Stadium and Coney Island, according to a recent NASA report. The five boroughs of New York City are sinking more quickly than the city as a whole, which is sinking at a rate of 1.6 millimetres annually, according to research conducted by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Rutgers University.

According to research published in Science Advances, from 2016 to 2023, the US Open Venue- Arthur Ashe Stadium and runways at LaGuardia airport saw the most sinking, lowering at rates of 3.7 and 4.6 millimetres per year, respectively. These two locations may have sunk the fastest since they were both constructed over previous landfills.

Further, the threat presented by the city’s sinking is being worsened by increasing sea levels. Hurricanes and extratropical storms have caused coastal flooding in the city, among other problems. One of the examples is Superstorm Sandy of 2012 which devastated the city.

Choose the right type for your particular well. Both systems require different installation methods as well, as does replacing an existing unit with another model. This guide will help you learn how to install a well pump or replace an existing one on your property.

Podcast: Gardening With Kids: Getting Them Started

Mother Nature has many wonderful things to teach children, but how can we help invite kids to explore gardens and plants? In this episode, we chat with author, gardener, and broadcaster Matt Biggs about how we can share the beauty and the lessons of nature in the garden with the children in our lives.

6 Ways Gardening Is the Ultimate Mind–Body Workout

The health benefits of gardening go beyond reaping a harvest of vegetables and fruits. Pulling weeds, raking, reaching for various plants and tools, and twisting and bending as you plant all work the muscles in your body and build strength, stamina, and flexibility. Gardening can also help you grow in these ways.

  1. Increase exposure to Vitamin D. Outdoor activities like gardening are great ways to catch some rays while pursuing a hobby.
  2. Reduce dementia risk. One study tracking 2,805 seniors age 60 and up concluded that physical activity, including gardening, could lower the risk of dementia later in life.
  3. Boost mood. A raft of research shows that exposure to gardens and other natural areas is associated with less depression, anxiety, and stress.
  4. Improve self-esteem. In one study, community gardeners in London reported feelings of higher self-esteem than a nongardener control group. Nurturing and harvesting plants is a great way to accomplish tasks and achieve successes that can build resilience outside the garden.
  5. Build community. Gardens — especially community gardens — strengthen neighborhoods by increasing social connection, reciprocity, trust, and civic engagement.
  6. Connect with nature. Nurturing plants offers a unique way to create a special bond with the environment that can make you feel part of something bigger than yourself.

CDC Data Show COVID Hospitalizations on the Decline

After multiple weeks of increasing COVID-19 hospital admissions, federal data show that the figure is now falling.

In the week ending Sept. 16, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data show hospitalizations are down 4.3 percent. The number had been increasing since July, although the CDC’s historical trends shows that hospitalization numbers were relatively low compared with previous increases in the virus—notably compared with a prior “surge” that occurred in the summer of 2022.

Meanwhile, the latest figures show that emergency department visits are down 19.3 percent and test positivity is down 1.6 percent. Deaths are up by about 12.5 percent, the data show, but that figure is also relatively low when compared with previous years.

18 Republicans Help Democrats Kill Amendment Defunding Pentagon-Sponsored Pride Month Celebrations

Eighteen House Republicans joined Democrats on Wednesday in killing an amendment to the 2024 Department of Defense Appropriations Act that would have barred taxpayer dollars from funding Pentagon-sponsored “Pride Month” celebrations.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced the measure, which would have prohibited appropriated funds from going toward “the observance of Pride Month authorized by the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness for the Cultural Observance and Awareness Events List.” Even though Republicans hold the majority in the House of Representatives, the amendment failed 231-202, with 18 Republicans siding with Democrats and four declining to vote.

West Point goes full woke, pushes ‘Diversity & Inclusion Studies’

Academy ‘churning out young Marxists with contempt for very nation they’re preparing to defend’

The United States Military Academy at West Point is offering a “Diversity and Inclusion Studies Minor” as part of its escalating DEI agenda championing “critical race theory” and transsexuality, among other leftist ideologies.

Though the academy cloaks its DEI, or “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion,” mission in idealistic, cultural-left rhetoric, a review of its sustaining documents reveals signs of the same “woke” mindset that has divided the nation by mainstreaming sex-and-gender radicalism as well as a  racialist obsession deemed by many conservatives and moderates to be anti-white racism.

Even Better Than Hamburger and Rice for Loose Stools

Dr. Karen Becker – Should you offer your dog food during bouts of diarrhea, and if so, which ones are best? Many veterinarians prescribe bland foods like beef and rice, but I recommend two other foods that do a better job of soothing irritated bowels and delaying gastric emptying to help stop loose stools.

Unlike most veterinarians, for pets with diarrhea who need a bland diet for a few days, I recommend 100% pumpkin and ground turkey vs. the usual rice and hamburger diet.

Canned 100% pumpkin provides much more soluble fiber than rice; soluble fiber soothes irritated bowels and delays gastric emptying, which slows down GI transit times and alleviates diarrhea

Diarrhea causes the loss of important electrolytes, including potassium, and pumpkin is an excellent source of potassium

I recommend ground turkey instead of ground beef for bland diets because beef is higher in fat, which can aggravate existing GI problems and pancreatitis.

An arrest on gun possession charges in Queens, New York, in November 2021 has led the Federal Bureau of Investigation to a pedophilic, Satanist extortion cult that has victimized dozens if not hundreds of minors, according to law enforcement documents, court records and sources with knowledge of the investigation.

Law enforcement discovered the organization, known as 764 and a range of aliases, while investigating alarming social media posts made by Angel Almeida, a 23-year-old resident of Astoria, Queens.

On 12 September 2023, the FBI issued a public warning about 764, noting the group is “deliberately targeting minor victims on publicly available messaging platforms to extort them into recording or livestreaming acts of self-harm and producing child sexual abuse material”. The advisory is the first formal mention of 764 by any American law enforcement agency.

Police, Good Samaritans Team Up to Lift Two-Ton Car Off Crushed Teen Driver and Save His Life

Last week in Georgia, people power made a life-saving rescue possible after a driver was trapped under a 3,600-pound car.

A collision launched the 19-year-old motorist through the sunroof as the car flipped over on its head, pinning him underneath without space to expand his chest.

Moments before, Georgia police sergeant Michael Peterson switched on the lights and sirens after seeing a car pass by at high speeds, but after catching up he found it had overturned with three young men clambering out of the passenger doors.

With every moment counting, police body-cam footage captures Peterson speaking with the trapped driver, confirming his life was in the balance, and ordering the teens, some motorists, and other officers who stopped to help to hoist up the nearly 2-ton vehicle while another pulled the victim free.

“C’mon ya’ll, we got this,” Sgt. Peterson can be heard saying.

The Lawrenceville Police Department confirmed that the teen driver had suffered several injuries, but he was recovering in a medical facility. It was the Department’s opinion that without the rapid action of Peterson and the Good Samaritans, he would not have made it.
