US Navy Shoots Down 3 Missiles From Yemen Potentially Headed ‘Toward Israel’

The United States shot down three cruise missiles over the Red Sea which may have been targeting Israel. Several drone attacks also targeted U.S. forces.

Drones attack a US military base in southern Syria and there are minor injuries, US officials say

A military base in southern Syria where U.S. troops have maintained a presence to train forces as part of a broad campaign against the Islamic State group was attacked by drones on Thursday, two U.S. officials told The Associated Press.

Chaos in Berlin: 65 Police Officers Injured as Pro-Palestine Activists Riot, Set Fires During Banned Protest

Chaos erupted in Berlin, leaving dozens of police officers injured, as pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets of the German capital in defiance of the local ban on such demonstrations over concerns of antisemitism.

On Wednesday evening, protests were held throughout Germany following the explosion at a hospital in Gaza, which international media initially blamed on Israel without evidence. In the Berlin borough of Neukölln, hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists gathered despite the city’s ban on anti-Israel protests. The demonstration devolved into violence and rioting, with local police reporting that the demonstrators attacked officers with stones, bottles, and makeshift pyrotechnic missiles.

China expanding nuclear arsenal much faster than predicted, US report says

A Pentagon report on China’s military power says Beijing is exceeding previous projections of how quickly it is building up its nuclear weapons arsenal and is “almost certainly” learning lessons from Russia’s war in Ukraine about what a conflict over Taiwan might look like.

So much for the hospital being destroyed … look at the parking lot!

Al-Ahli Arab hospital: piecing together what happened as Israel insists militant rocket to blame

The tragedy at al-Ahli Arab hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip provoked bitter recriminations that reverberated across the Middle East and beyond.

Palestinian officials blamed an Israeli airstrike for the explosion that Gaza’s health ministry said on Wednesday had killed 471 Palestinians and wounded 314 others.

Israel has said the blast was caused by a failed rocket launch by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group, which has denied blame.

Forensic reviewing of open source videos and news broadcasts have given a clearer picture of what happened on Tuesday night.

They show the impact on the hospital occurring at 6.59pm local time, with a massive orange plume visible in the dark horizon, engulfing the building.

Russia says obtained papers confirming US moving ‘illegal’ bioresearch labs to Africa

Russia says it has obtained papers that confirm the United States is moving its “illegal” bioresearch laboratories to Africa.

In February 2022, the Russian Defense Ministry discovered the existence of 30 Pentagon-funded biological research laboratories in Ukraine. Back then, Russia said the laboratories were only a small part of a global network of over 300 similar facilities.

The Defense Ministry, on Monday, citing documents that had been obtained from the Pentagon, said the US is transferring dual-purpose biological research activities to the Black continent.

US State Department Sends Out ‘Worldwide Caution’ Alert to Americans

The U.S. State Department on Thursday issued a worldwide alert to Americans overseas due to the potential for terrorist attacks, coming in the midst of heightened tensions in the Middle East due to the Israel–Hamas conflict.

“Due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution,” the alert said.

It then advised U.S. citizens to remain alert in locations frequented by tourists, enroll in the agency’s travel program, and follow the agency on social media to receive alerts and updates. Other details were not provided.

‘Breaking Biden’ Author: Five Takeaways from Joe’s Duplicitous Oval Office Address About Ukraine

Joe Biden gave a rare Oval Office address Thursday night that began with a clear condemnation of Hamas terror, but quickly shifted focus to cynical politicking and narrative setting, even while Americans are still being held hostage.

Biden Misses His Cue, Talks More About Palestinians Than Americans or Israelis, Fights With Teleprompter

As my colleague Bob Hoge reported, Joe Biden’s speech on Israel and Ukraine on Thursday night was a complete mess. He was requesting aid for Israel, Ukraine, and the Palestinians in Gaza.

He started not being aware that the was live on the air, so there was this awkward pause.

But that’s typical Joe; he always seems to have some difficulty.

Sidney Powell Pleads Guilty in Trump Georgia Election Case

Sidney Powell accepted a plea bargain in Fulton County on the morning of Oct. 19, pleading guilty to six misdemeanors related to election interference in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

The deal didn’t require her to plead guilty to the racketeering charge on which she and 18 codefendants, including former President Donald Trump, were indicted on Aug. 14.

She was slated to go to trial in a matter of days, on Oct. 23, after demanding a speedy trial that severed her case from all codefendants except attorney Kenneth Chesebro, who also demanded a speedy trial.

Trump Scores Win in Lawsuit Over Promotion of Marketing Business

A federal judge refused on Tuesday to certify the ongoing lawsuit alleging President Donald Trump defrauded individuals in his promotion of a multi-level marketing venture as a class action.

Filed in 2018, the complaint focused on ACN, which sold telecommunications products, and two other companies. The plaintiffs are represented by Roberta Kaplan, the same attorney who represented E. Jean Carroll in her successful sexual battery and defamation suit against Mr. Trump.

U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Schofield ruled that putative class members lacked certain common elements in bringing the case. “Here there is no common evidence showing that putative class members decided to enroll because of Trump’s alleged misstatements,” Judge Schofield wrote for her order in the Southern District of New York.

Deal for McHenry to Act as Interim Speaker Collapses – Update

The effort backed by Representative Jim Jordan to empower Patrick McHenry as interim speaker collapsed on Thursday after it became obvious that there wouldn’t be enough support from House Republicans.

Had the deal gone through, McHenry would have been empowered until January. It would have allowed legislative business to move forward.

However, after a lengthy closed-door meeting with GOP members on Thursday, Jordan said that empowering McHenry was not a viable option. He said it was a way “to lower the temperature and get back to work,” but “we decided that wasn’t where we’re gonna go.”

Newsom’s Senate Appointee Laphonza Butler Will Not Seek A Full Term In 2024

Democratic Sen. Laphonza Butler of California will not seek election to a full Senate term in 2024, according to a statement she issued on Twitter, now known as X.

Butler was appointed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California on Oct. 1 to fill the vacancy created by the death of longtime Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, whose term would have expired in 2024. Butler’s decision to not seek election to a full term as an incumbent precludes her appointment from affecting polling among candidates currently in the race, which include Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff of California’s 30th District, Katie Porter of the 47th District and Barbara Lee of the 12th District, respectively.

Billionaire Democrat Changes Mind About Trump

Venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya says ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ blocks people from seeing that many of Trump’s policies were solid.

Former President Donald Trump’s peace-nurturing policies look “pretty incredible” in the wake of violence erupting in the Middle East, a billionaire Democrat says.

During last week’s episode of the All-In Podcast, prominent venture capital investor Chamath Palihapitiya, who previously called the former Republican president “an idiot,” says it is time to re-evaluate President Trump’s accomplishments.

Commenting just days after Hamas, an Iran-backed terrorist group, invaded Israel and raped, killed, and kidnapped innocent civilians, Mr. Palihapitiya lauded the Trump Administration for its foreign-policy gains.

US Appeals Court Tosses Kari Lake’s Electronic Voting Machine Lawsuit

A federal appeals court has dismissed a lawsuit brought by former Republican candidates Kari Lake and Mark Finchem, who claimed that the use of “inherently unreliable” electronic tabulation machines in the Arizona’s 2022 midterm elections was a violation of their constitutional rights to vote.

In their lawsuit, originally filed last April in a U.S. District Court in Pheonix, the two candidates asked the court to keep the state from using the machines, which they allege “has created unjustified new risks of hacking, election tampering, and electronic voting fraud.”

“The vote tallies reported by electronic voting machines cannot, without objective evaluation, be trusted to accurately show which candidates actually received the most votes,” they argued in the complaint, adding that every vote should instead be counted by hand.

1,000 Days Without a Trial: Jan. 6 Prisoner Shares His Story of ‘Endurance, Perseverance, and Hope’

On Oct. 12, Jake Lang passed a milestone: 1,000 days in jail without a trial. To mark the anniversary, he wanted to share with the American people “the horrific conditions of confinement,” which he says he and many of his fellow Jan. 6 prisoners have had to endure.

“During this time, I’ve done 20 months of solitary confinement,” Mr. Lang told The Epoch Times. “For 15 months of that, I wasn’t allowed to have a haircut or a shave.”

This was intentional, he said, to make Jan. 6 prisoners look like “homeless vagrants” or “deranged terrorists” during video court appearances.

Jan. 6 prisoners are frequently denied family visitation, Mr. Lang said. They spend months with no sunlight. Lights in their cells remain on at night, depriving them of sleep.

His account aligns with first-hand reports from other Jan. 6 prisoners, detailed in a Congressional report in 2021.

FCC Democrats begin process to restore Obama-era net neutrality rules

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted 3-2 along party lines to begin a process to reinstate Obama-era net neutrality laws.

In reestablishing the rules, the FCC would have more ability to regulate the internet by preventing broadband providers from engaging in harmful practices to consumers, such as blocking, throttling and paid prioritization.

HEALTH

Likely the Filthiest Food on Earth, yet Seen as Wholesome

Of all the foods you eat, this one is most likely to land you in bed (or the hospital) with food poisoning – tainted by Campylobacter, Salmonella and E. coli.

According to preliminary data from the CDC, there were 25,606 food-borne infections, 5,893 hospitalizations and 120 deaths from food poisoning in 2018. In 2017, there were 24,484 infections, 5,677 hospitalization and 122 deaths.

Poultry is a major source of Campylobacter, which has been the most commonly identified infection since 2013. It causes diarrhea and 18% of those affected require hospitalization. Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare but possible outcome of Campylobacter infection.

A 2011 study conducted by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) found 48% of the 120 chicken products tested were contaminated with E. coli, commonly found in feces. The following year, repeat testing revealed the exact same result: 48% of chicken products again tested positive.

PCRM filed a petition for rulemaking with the USDA in 2013, asking the agency to regulate fecal contamination as an adulterant. PCRM has now filed a lawsuit against USDA over the agency’s failure to respond.

Studies using DNA matching have shown a majority of urinary tract infections are the result of exposure to contaminated chicken, not sexual contact with an infected person or transfer of your own E. coli from your anus to your urethra.

Important Changes Coming to Medicare in 2024: What You Need to Know

Big changes are coming to Medicare in 2024. From tax hikes for high earners to expanded telehealth services, America’s seniors should prepare for shifts in health care coverage and costs.

The changes are “good news” for all beneficiaries regarding affordability and coverage, Pavani Rangachari, a professor of health care administration and public health and the director of the Master of Healthcare Administration program at the University of New Haven in Connecticut, told The Epoch Times.

With premiums projected to remain stable even as new payment models aim to improve care quality, next year will test how well sweeping health care reforms serve the needs of an aging population.

New Medicare Tax Hike Targets Top Earners

One of the most significant changes is the implementation of the Medicare tax increase. This tax hike applies only to individuals making over $400,000 per year. Lower earners will not see a change.

Government Undermines Health Care Quality, While Choice Promotes It

With Health Care Quality Week upon us, a few reminders are in order. First, the U.S. health sector improves health care quality around the world. Even so, government intervention reduces quality here at home. And making quality health care universal requires reforms that let individuals make their own health decisions.

The U.S. health sector leads all other nations in medical innovation. Those quality improvements make health care more universal around the world—even in countries that supposedly already had universal health care.

Consider sofosbuvir (brand name: Sovaldi), an “almost universal cure of chronic hepatitis C” with cure rates of 84–96 percent. One study found sofosbuvir reduces all‐cause mortality among hepatitis C patients by a whopping 50 percent.

1,000 Percent Spike in Congenital Syphilis in This State: New Data

The United States is seeing an alarming upward trend in babies born with congenital syphilis, with cases in one state seeing as high as a 1,000 percent spike.

A recent report published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) looked at discharge data from Mississippi hospitals between 2016 and 2022 and found congenital syphilis (CS) had increased tenfold. The total number of infants diagnosed with the disease, passed down from pregnant mothers to their babies, during the seven-year time frame amounted to 367 infants.

Newborns with congenital syphilis were more likely to be born prematurely at less than 37 weeks and from mothers who used illicit drugs. They also had lower birth weights of around 3 pounds compared to babies without CS. The days the infants spent in the hospital were significantly longer, and the cost of their treatment was over four times as much.

‘Devil’ comet 3 times bigger than Mount Everest explodes, now heading toward Earth

he iceball cometh.

As if things didn’t seem apocalyptic enough already, scientists reported that a “horned” comet three times bigger than Mount Everest exploded and is hurtling toward Earth.

The blast originated on Oct. 5 from 12P/Pons-Brooks a cryovolcanic — or cold volcano — comet that measures a colossal 18.6 miles in diameter, or the size of a small city, Live Science reported.

For reference, Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, is 29,029 feet high — or about 5.5 miles.

This marked the second time this interstellar ice cube erupted in the last four months, with the last celestial event occurring in July, the Science Times reported.

Intranasal Genetic Injections Are Here: Oh No

More “great” news, folks A team from Yale University has come up with an intranasal mRNA “vaccine” that delivers mRNA straight to your lungs. It has allegedly worked for mice, “opening the door for human testing in the near future.”

Per a study published in August 2023, the researchers have demonstrated that “mRNA delivery can be accomplished by encapsulating mRNAs of interest within optimized poly(amine-co-ester) polyplexes.

Polyplex-delivered mRNAs were efficiently translated into protein in the lungs of mice with limited evidence of toxicity. This platform was successfully applied as an intranasal SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, eliciting robust immune responses that conferred protection against subsequent viral challenge …”

An inhalable genetic nanoparticle “vaccine” that can be potentially administered by air? No one would ever even think of administering anything like this covertly, right? Oh no. Oh, no, no, no.

The truth about pregnant women getting the jab is finally sinking in …

CDC and Doctors Say Fewer Pregnant Women Getting Vaccines

Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as some doctors, say that fewer pregnant women are getting influenza and other vaccines this year.

A recent CDC report found that among 2,000 women who were pregnant during last year’s cold and influenza season, as the survey was carried out in March and April, about a quarter of them were “very hesitant” about getting a flu vaccine. A year before that, some 17.2 percent were very hesitant to receive the shot.

The CDC study also found that 47.2 percent of expectant mothers received influenza vaccines last year, which is down from 57.5 percent who got them during the 2019-2020 season—before the COVID-19 pandemic and mass vaccination campaigns.

US army charges Travis King with desertion for fleeing to North Korea

The US army has charged Pte Travis King with crimes ranging from desertion for running into North Korea in July to assault against fellow soldiers and solicitation of child abuse images.

The army’s case against King, set out in documents seen by Reuters, includes eight distinct charges under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, setting up a substantial legal battle for the 23-year-old soldier after his release from North Korean custody in September.

The army did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In a statement provided by a family spokesperson, King’s mother, Claudine Gates, expressed her unconditional love and asked that her son “be afforded the presumption of innocence”

Family Sells UK House for $489,000 and Buys French Hamlet: ‘Winning the Lottery Without Realizing It’

A family who realized they were living in a rat race sold their three-bedroom semi-detached house for 400,000 pounds (approx. $488,400)—and bought an entire French village.

Liz and David Murphy purchased the historic rural hamlet of Lac De Maison, in Poitou-Charentes, southwest France, in January 2021.

“We were both working nine-to-five jobs in England with busy lives, and the kids were in after-school clubs, and it was like we were on an endless treadmill,” Ms. Murphy, 45, said. “It wasn’t until Covid came, and we were on this furlough, and we realized we were in a rat race, and life was passing us by.”

As they thought further about it, they realized they hadn’t spent much time with their kids and thus wanted to do something to change their lifestyle.

Being stuck at home during the Covid lockdowns, they knew it was time to transform their lives.

“Some people decided to buy a dog during Covid, but we decided to move to a different country,” Mr. Murphy, a trained hypnotherapist, said. “We kind of made the decision to move in August 2020, and we came over in the Covid break in travel.”

Having fallen in love with France during past holidays, they decided they wanted to move there.

“Wanting to learn a language, the food, and the weather—we never considered anywhere else,” Mr. Murphy said.

Texas city settles lawsuit over police response to Trump supporters surrounding Biden bus in 2020

A Texas city on Wednesday agreed to a $175,000 settlement with passengers on one of President Joe Biden’s campaign buses in 2020, including Democrat Wendy Davis, who accused police of ignoring their calls for help after a caravan of Donald Trump supporters surrounded them on a highway.

The episode took place days before the November election as the bus approached Austin. Video that circulated widely on social media at the time showed trucks with large Trump flags driving close to the bus, which had campaign surrogates and staffers on board but not the candidates.

A lawsuit filed by Davis, a former state senator who ran for Texas governor in 2014, and the other passengers accused San Marcos police of ignoring “acts of violent political intimidation” and abdicating their responsibility by not sending an escort despite multiple 911 calls made from the bus. Under the settlement, the City of San Marcos also agreed to give officers additional training that includes principles of giving “individuals a voice” and being neutral in decision-making.
